Large, clean modern room, good linens, comfortable bed. Large public room for continental breakfast. Definitely felt more contemporary than the usual roadside hotel. Biggest disappointment is the stairs on the second floor which mean guests can't use a luggage cart to get to ANY room. I had quite a bit of luggage which I did not want to leave in my car overnight, and having to carry everything from the elevator all the way to my room at the end of the hall took multiple trips both arriving and departing and was ridiculous. Why isn't there at least a ramp? Other disappointment was not being able to take an actual bath. The LED lights are too cold and bright - making the room feel like a hospital room. Lack of art on the walls makes it feel a little bar as well, but that is very low priority.…
We spent the night here last Wednesday. I was impressed as to how clean it was. The lobby even had a nice smell. Check-in was easy. Breakfast was plentiful. Nice comfortable bed and very clean. I would definitely stay here again.
The inside of the hotel is lovely and modern. Check-in quick and easy. Bed comfortable. Climate control excellent. Very clean. I have to mention the staff. Very friendly and competent, especially Alexa. She is a gem. Outside of hotel could use some remodeling, but that doesn't matter to me. Area is very safe. My favorite place to stay in Ruidoso.
This stay was our third or fourth stay at this property. From the first stay until now, the property and staff have gone downhill. When we checked in, we were told the pool was open. This was great news to us as my husband struggles with back pain and was looking forward to using the hot tub. So we went into town to purchase swimsuits only to return and find out it was the pool only. Granted, the front desk clerk did say pool, but did not clarify that the hot tub was closed. This was a huge disappointment to us. Then to top off our stay, my husband went down in the morning to grab some coffee as the front desk staff said coffee was 24/7. At about 5:45 a.m. he noticed the breakfast staff putting out the breakfast foods. And also he noticed she was not wearing a mask, which is required in the state of New Mexico, so she got a little upset as she had to go put it on because she was caught. As we were on a tight schedule that morning to return to our home base, we decided to go down and grab a plastic container of cereal only. We in fact had our own milk already in the refrigerator. When we got there at about 6:10 a.m., the breakfast lady went ballistic on us saying we could not have anything as breakfast did not start till 6:30 a.m. and she would get in trouble if we took anything. All we wanted was to grab a cereal and take it back to our room and that's the response that we got. She in fact called the manager about us and thankfully the manager said to let them have it. By then, I wanted nothing. We were so disappointed with the service we received, that we canceled a future stay at the choice hotel brands and booked at a different chain. As a gold member I would like to stay with choice, but with the service and attitude we have received lately at various properties we may be looking for another brand.…
Checked in with front desk clerk Max. Never have we experienced such an arrogant, incompetent front desk employee. He was rude, and CLEARLY should never be allowed to have contact with guests! Immediately after we checked in, another guest was checking in and he treated her the very same way. I let the GM, D, know of our check in experience. He apologized greatly and said he would re-train his clerk. He also offered us an additional 1,000 Choice Rewards points for our poor experience. Guess what? Those points were never added to our account. After this second staff issue I'd have to surmise that the problem at this hotel truly starts at the top...
