We enjoyed a lovely re-visit to Along The River RV park out side Ruidoso NM. On our previous visit, we stayed in one of the 2 cabins they have. This trip, we brought our newly acquired RV, knowing Along the River was perfect for camping. The owners work diligently to keep the campsites user friendly and clean. The also bring firewood and burn buckets if you so desire. This is a great place and we will visit again.
Love this campground! The hosts were very polite, inviting, and treated us like family. They asked us if we would like an upgrade to full hook up site. They helped us move and set up. The facilities and ground are very clean and wad just an overall relaxing weekend.
We were delighted to find "Along the River," which it is!! Our unusually long spot was in a very old apple orchard, and backed up to the pleasant sound of the river. The staff was friendly and helpful.
This policy is off the website for the RV park: Pets are allowed in RV's but must be kept on a leash, picked up after, and attended to at all times. Zero tolerance for aggressive or noisy dogs. Dog owners are liable for their dog's actions while staying at the campground. Limit 1 with no extra cost. More than 1 are $3 each per day. Pets are not allowed in pop-ups, hybrids, tents or cabins. We checked in on Friday and checked out Sunday. The park is a nice park. We saw people all day Saturday with their dogs on leashes and no issues. Come Sunday morning we are out sitting drinking coffee, a grey pit bull that we had seen the day before on a leash came up the little hill toward our site barking and growling, my husband scare it off. Just a minute or so later around the other side of us came the same pit bull along with the other grey pit bull came toward us again barking and growling. With no cell service my husband was able to get in vehicle to go to office. Office does not open till 11, he used the phone provided on the porch to call and only got a recording. He then proceeded to knock on front and back door with no answer. He then started honking car horn to get their attention. Once the owner came out my husband told him of the situation. He came around to our site looking for dogs, my husband still upset about the dogs said lazy *** dog owners, well the RV park owner thought he said lazy *** RV owner and threatened to call the sheriff if we did not leave. I then came out and asked him what was he going to do about the dogs and he said " what can i do about it. FOLLOW YOUR OWN RULES. Dogs not on leashes, tent sites with dogs allowed. I do not have a problem with dogs, I have a problem with RV owner and dog owners not taking responsibility.…
Along the River is a beautiful RV park with large lots for RV parking. It the perfect spot for a quick trip to Enchanted Vines winery. The RV spots are clean, their are also cabins that are available for rent.
A shout out to the friendly staff (Melissa and Matt)! The campgrounds (note less then 10 spots) exceeded our expectations! Restrooms and showers were incredibly clean at various times of the day and we had no wait using these facilities on the weekend before Labor Day weekend, as reported in other reviews. We'll definitely head back!
Very beautiful scenery for us to enjoy. We were in space 34 and we loved that space and the location to the water. Beautiful flowers and butterflies near the water. Our daughter saw dear within 100 feet of our site. It was a very nice place to stay and friendly staff. We will be back. We loved everything about this place. Perfect spot for our 30 ft Motorhome and plenty of space for our tow dolly and vehicle. It was full for the weekend we were there but was still very quiet. August 2019. Thank you for our wonderful time there. Ferguson family.
Pluses first- We tented in the space next to the river. It was cool, shady, peaceful and roomy. Bathrooms a 3-minute walk away, individual bathrooms with sink, toilet and shower. There were water pumps to refill our water jugs (1 right next to the bathrooms). Each site has a table and benches and a fire pit. The owner Matt was very helpful, available, gave good directions and was a nice guy. Only a 15-minute drive into Ruidoso (Albertsons and shopping). Butterfly heaven!! Quiet time from 10 pm-7 am. Ice and firewood for sale at the office. Chair swings around the grounds. Negatives- very few! I could never get the WiFi to work on my phone. (I called home when we went into town.) No plugs at tent sites. A barking dog. Loud music across the river (but turned off at 10). Highway noise noticeable (but there are RV and tent sites away from that). Never had an accurate weather forecast- it rained off and on when it wasn’t forecast. The whole campground was very nice- I will stay there again!! It was completely full the weekend we were there! Get reservations early. It would be a great place for a family event or reunion.…
We've probably stayed at close to 100 campgrounds over the years, and this was the very first that wanted to charge me extra to use the restrooms. I always thought that was part of the services received for paying for a site? And, I can understand charging for a shower, but to use the restroom? At any rate, when we got here, I asked again, and was told that they wouldn't charge us after all. I'm not sure I would have taken a shower in there anyway because it didn't look too great, but we actually did use the bathroom a couple of times. Otherwise, campground was pretty nice, with a little stream running through the edge of it. But, don't expect to get to park next to the stream if you're using PA discount - even though there were empty sites there, we weren't allowed to use one of those. Last, use your GPS to get there because the sign on the highway is not real visible.…
The only reason I gave a two is the campsite. The campsite was very nice and we definitely had the best site. Let me try and explain why I gave the rating of two. The Owner was very rude and I warn you if you have a dog do not go to this rv camp ground. There is only two restrooms and showers, and depending on where you are they are along way. There is no laundry and the closest is approximately 20 miles. They lied to my friend about a site not being available. One of my friends had to come back to the campsite from town, approximately 21 miles because they were moving a trailer in nest to them and their little dog was barking at the gentlemen that was helping the driver. Of course when they got there the little dog was a sleep. Oh, did I mention the person on the phone was very rude and threatening. Very far from town Not cheap, not breaks for Srs., Military, good Sam, Zero. Well I guess that about sums it up, but even with all the bad, We would have had a great time if we constantly did not have to worry about our dogs barking and trust me I am taling about little dogs that behave very well. i…
