Loved our cabin at the idle hour lodge. Very rustic but has everything you would need for a getaway. We stayed in cabin 11 which was very clean and cozy. Fully stocked kitchen with dishes, pots, and pans enabled us to grill dinner one night and make breakfast. The owner Dorothy was extremely nice and even sent me information on... More

We once again stayed at Dorothy and Mike's wonderful rustic cabins. As usual the cabin was very clean and beds had 'Flannel' sheets on them. The mountain ambiance is great and the owners once again made us feel just like family. It wasn't just us but, I noticed they treated and visited with everyone around us to make them comfortable.... We stayed at the Idle Hour one night on our way to Cloudcroft. It was our first time in Ruidoso and it was delightful! The cabins are aged but very quaint and comfortable. Their were five in our group and one of us had to sleep on sofa bed we padded it up with blankets and pillows but it was... More

Excellent service, I send several places e-mails asking for information and the persons from Idle Hour Lodge were the only that called me. At the same, they were very kind when we arrived and do the check in, the cabins are cute and very clean. I will book again with Idle Hour in our next trip to Ruidoso...

Just finished a three night stay at the Idle Hour Lodge and was very pleased with the comfort and peaceful atmosphere. Check-in was fast and courteous. Cabin was small two bedroom but very clean and comfortable. The exterior of the cabin did not reflect the detail to comfort of the interior. They are upgrading the cabins exteriors. Our cabin came... We highly recommend these cabins. We celebrated Christmas and New Years here with family and friends. The cabins are clean, comfortable and like home. Our cabins were beautifully decorated for the Holidays. We were there for 10 days, we experienced a white Christmas and New Years...Awesome and so Beautiful! It was so cold outside and the cabins stay nice and warm.... More

We stayed there after the Christmas holiday. The owners are very nice and accommodating. They left their slow cooker in the cabin for us to use. We needed a baking sheet and was able to get one from the front office. The cabins were rustic and clean. It is nice and quiet where the cabins are, perfect location. Our cabin... More

Hi LB:) First of all, Thank you so much for staying at Idle Hour Lodge. Also, thanks for your prompt review. Your compliments are very much appreciated. Our sincerest apologies for the sofa sleeper mattress:( Honestly, I have not slept on that one, but, I have yet to find a sleeper sofa that actually could be called "comfortable". If you... More

This is our second trip to these rustic, quiet cabins. The location is secluded, but close to town, an ideal place for a romantic getaway. Dorothy and Mike place delicious, fresh-baked cookies in each cabin before guests arrive, which adds to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The military discounts and pet-friendliness make it an ideal vacation spot for the whole family.

Big party going on a few blocks away when took our dog out at 3:45 am. Inside the cabin couldn't hear a thing! Friendly proprietors. Very cosy - tall people beware. Just enough room to wiggle around outsides of beds. Nice decks.
