Small cabins that feel like cabins. Very cozy. Great value. Off the beaten path just enough to not hear the highway but close enough to walk to restaurants and a grocery store. They provide almost every amenity including outdoor grills. Great experience!!

We just spent four nights in one of the cabins over Christmas. I made the reservation in October and hadn't spoken to Dorothy (one of the owners) since that time due to my heavy workload. All of our arrangements were just as she said they would be upon arrival! Cabin was cozy, close to downtown, but still tucked into the... More

For the first time in our families lives, we decided to go make memories for Christmas instead of gifts under a tree. My boys are now teenagers and I just struggle with Christmas due to so much commercialized nonsense. I found the Idle Cabins online and read wonderful reviews. I called and spoke to Dorothy's husband who was so friendly... More

My friends and I signed into the Idle Hour Lodge for a third trip in a row to the Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally September 18th. As always the place was well kept up, clean and very relaxing. The owners, also as usual, greeted us like old friends and made us feel very welcome. I totally recommend you stay at the... More

From the moment our family of four arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by the Idle Hour Lodge's owners, who were sitting out on their own deck, right across the way from our family's cabin. When we decided to grill out one night, Dorothy (one of the owners) ran into her house to make sure we had all the condiments we... More

Delightful, idyllic getaway for our family; from the genuine warmth and hospitality of the innkeepers to the peaceful, relaxing setting, we look forward to weekend overnights at Idle Hour; we enjoy grilling our food at the lodge's grills, sitting on our front or back deck watching deer or the beautiful night sky, and walking by the nearby river; beds are... We loved this place! The cabins are charmingly vintage, with all the modern conveniences we wanted. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were very comfortable, and we had tons of hot water. The cabins have individual decks that everyone seemed to use and enjoy. We really liked the quiet and peacefullness, even though they were full for two of... More

Stayed here over New Years for 3 nights, ever since calling to ask about reservations I felt so welcomed by the owners, they we're so helpful when I asked about information about where to go and what to do, as soon as we got there we were greeted by Dorothy (one of the owners), we had homemade cookies waiting for... Dorothy and Michael Schlitt are wonderful hosts, make you feel like you're coming for a family reunion. The cabins are fully equipped and have the nicest beds to sleep on. Our cabin slept six, a king, a double and one sleeper sofa. There was a fireplace, but we chose not to use it. Deer graze between the cabins. There is... More

Dorothy and Mike did it again! Banana bread on arrival. Get outta here......These are the best rustic cabins and friendliest owners you will ever meet. Attended the Golden Aspen Motorcycle rally again this year and have our reservations already for next year. Watched a Mule Deer Buck 20 feet from our back deck with the rippling stream soothing the setting.... More
