We transferred to River Lodge after spending 3 nights at LS Tinga Lodge. River Lodge looked and felt very different to the majority of lodges we’ve stayed at throughout Africa! It almost feels that it doesn’t belong in the bush, it’s so modern looking and majestic!! The welcome was as professional and personal as one can expect from such a wonderful looking lodge. Our room was a Superior Room with a perfect view of the Sabie River! The Superior Room is one long room with a small wooden deck overlooking the Sabie River, through sliding doors. Our Guide was Lee and our tracker was Surprise. They were very knowledgeable and made each game drive memorable!! We did manage to see the Big 5 on our 6 game drives, along with the usual plains animals. I had Steadfast ( suggested by Ciara who managed our entire trip for us including our flights. I would recommend to anyone looking for a group to book your holiday or special occasion, to use Steadfast ) book the Kingston Treehouse for our last night. What an incredible experience and something everyone staying at River Lodge should include during their respective stays! All the staff were very friendly and professional!! The food was 1st class and always plenty of it. On our last night my wife and I discussed our stay at the two lodges. And while we loved everything about River Lodge and our special night in the Kingston Treehouse. We agreed that Tinga Lodge just pipped River Lodge at the post. We both felt that Tinga was a more personal experience, with all the staff making it more personal. We did agree that this is because River Lodge is a bigger lodge with more guests!! We would definitely recommend River Lodge to any SA guests or any international visitors! Congrats to Ty and your entire team for making our stay a memorable stay. God Bless and Best Wishes, Alan & Cecilé.

Just after the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted, we booked a long weekend Bush experience (or Safari) for my Hubby's birthday. Lion Sands River Lodge was really great. Beautifully appointed rooms, architecture of the buildings spectacular with scrumptious food, friendly and helpful staff. Then the Game drives - the BEST game viewing vehicle ever with a maximum of 6 people per vehicle. So comfortable and we saw so much game. The Big 5 and plenty other game, birds, beautiful trees and sunsets! Our Guide, IP and Tracker, Norman were so friendly and good at spotting game and make it an amazing experience.

Top notch lodge: beautiful architecture, stunning location, spacious and comfortable rooms, tasty food, excellent guides and trackers, great spa, very attentive staff. We arrived at the river lodge straight from J‘burg /our international flight into SA. Within minutes of arrival at the lodge and first game drive we found ourselves decompressing from everyday and corporate stress. Game drives take place for 3 hours twice a day (5.30am and 4.30pm). The safari vehicles are the most comfortable we have ever experienced and with max. 6 people on each vehicle. Cruising through the beautiful landscape open air so comfortably is already a mediative and highly enjoyable experience, the incredible animal sightings (which in our case happened every day during the 4 days we stayed there) is a plus. Our guide Gus and tracker Tony were simply fantastic. Experts in their field leading to sightings of Big 6 + more and incredibly friendly too. It was a pleasure spending our time in the company of such impressive people. During morning drives there is a coffee & snack stop and in the afternoon there are sundowners with snacks. Gus and Tony always took us to incredibly scenic locations to enjoy these treats. We cannot stop rewatching the videos we made and hopefully experience this live again soon. The lodge itself is very stylish and in a stunning location next to Sabie river. Just lounging by the beautiful pool in between game drives is bliss with antilopes grazing nearby and making the whole experience serene beyond words. There is a little gym, a creative gallery and a boutique on-site. The food is mostly very good. Very good snacks are available prior to each game drive in the lounge, breakfast is delicious, for lunch & dinner there are 3 options to choose from followed by a sweet dessert or fruit. The wine and bubbly in the all-inclusive package was ok, but I think there would be better options in the same price class in a country like South Africa. The spa therapists were great. We went for a deep tissue massage, which was heavenly. Also the great Africology products are available in rooms and are sold in the spa. Finally, our butler Elliott was beyond attentive. Once he knew our preferences, he would pro-actively spoil us for example by already heading our way with our favorite drinks for lunch and dinner. Also once he saw how I prepare my morning muesli (with all bran and almond milk) he went on to prepare it for me exactly as I like it. I never felt so breakfast pampered before! A clear COVID protocol was in place incl. daily measures of temperatures, wearing mask in public areas, mini breakfast buffet brought to each table etc.

We have had Lion Sands on our bucket list for quite some time. When we finally got around to going - we were not disappointed! Every little touchpoint was well thought out and the experience was phenomenal. From our river suite to the game drives, we thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of it and will definitely return for a longer stay!

Spent the night star gazing the African skies....the treehouse luxury setup offers both comfort and the location is isolated in the bush to offer ultimate camping experience. The flexibility of the Safari offered us an opportunity to see the big 5 up close. The lodge provided gourmet meals, bush breakfasts, boma dinners and packed picnic basket for treehouse dinners and breakfast. Slept peacefully under the mosquito nets!!
