Exeter no longer squeezes three passengers to a row on its game drive vehicles, to everybody's relief. We were met at the local airstrip by Craig in a brand new vehicle, complete with little luxuries like polar fleece rugs and ponchos for the cold mornings, and a set of binoculars, hand sanitiser and tissues in each console in the middle... The associates that work there are excellent and have a great feel for the animals. Lodge was sold during our stay. The common areas were first class. Our room had its own pool, not heated, out door shower, excellent, but rooms were a little shabby and worn for the prices they charge. Animal viewing excellent. We saw recent lion kills... More

Everything was superb. And apparently they are upgrading soon! Personal pool on deck, large rooms and a living area in our room. We enjoyed the meals, but would have liked the option of group dining. Several on our drive would have enjoyed dining together too, on occasion, but it was never set up that way. Craig is the best guide.... More

They came from nowhere and came to drink.... It was an amazing experience. Every day, your have some impalas, waterbucks, nyala coming along your... More

Large, luxurious villas with private pools and views. the staff and guides are very competent and friendly. We saw the Big 5 multiple times during morning and evening game drives. Meals were prepared well and they were gracious about accommodating dietary preferences. While they provide lap robes and hot water bottles for morning drives in winter., having a knit cap... More

The reception was welcoming and friendly. We were there when it was very dry, so not much happened at the river. Guides and personnel very helpful. Chalet spacious and luxurious. The food was exotic, but tasteless and could be so much better. We saw buffalo, elephants and leopards, but I kept on feeling that these were almost canned with bait... More

This will be lengthy but this lodge and its people deserve the time. We chose River Lodge because we were traveling during dry season and well, its on a river which we thought would gather animals. We couldn't have been more correct. Upon arrival we were told we had to be escorted as a leopard had made a kill last... More

I cannot say enough about our experience at the Exeter River Lodge. Everything about our stay was superb! The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to make your stay as top notch as possible. The location is absolutely fantastic and to be able to sit in a plunge pool and watch elephants playing in the river in... More

Wow. This safari camp was perfect, and went above and beyond anything that was expected. The villa that I was in was extremely large, and had a private plunge pool for each villa. These villas had heat, air conditioning, heated running water, a bath tub, and indoor shower and an outdoor shower. This camp was also very secure, every window... More
