We went up in August to escape the Texas heat. We rented a cabin, since we had a little dog. We were told the unit had A/C (wrong) so we were ill prepared without a doggie gate for the front door. The owner had one we could borrow and that was awesome. Note to self: Always travel with a doggie door!

The cabins were located withing walking distance of everything we wanted to do. There was a room fan to help circulate the air if it got a bit warm. We were fine, but like the rooms chilly at night. If we had wanted, we could have cooked in (pots, pans, toaster, etc.) but we were so close to restaurants, we just walked over. Dog friendly town meant we could eat out lots of places at lunch.

I forgot to mention the hummingbirds. OMG! They were fun to watch. 4 feeders, and each one had many birds feeding. It was great to just sit and listen to the birds. Everyone was friendly. I really liked the Red River vibe.

Check in/out was a breeze and the room rates were great. I would stay there again!

We enjoyed our early October 2021 stay at Riverside Lodge. We had a two-bedroom condo complete with full kitchen and wood stove with wood that was already split and ready to burn. The unit was clean and very comfortable. We would stay here again.

The only downside was that when we checked in we were told that it was a 1 and 1/2 bath unit. It does have a full bath: tub/shower, sink, toilet that is well lit and spacious. The "1/2 bath" isn't a bath . . . it's a sink in one of the bedrooms: no toilet.

Also, there were lots of rules to follow upon checkout, like taking out the trash, bundling towels in a mesh bag. We would definitely stay here again.

The lodge was very cute and we liked having a kitchen and two bedrooms. Unfortunately it was a little run down and the bedside lamps were broken and without light bulbs in one room. The conditioner provided in the shower smelled foul like it had gone bad or something. The couch and chairs in the living room were extremely uncomfortable to sit in. I’m not sure we’d stay here again.

Did not get what we paid for and very disappointed! We intentionally booked early and selected the room we water. We were an hour away when we receive a phone call tell us we were being moved to a different room. The room we were out in was not even close to the room we selected and paid for. We were out in a room on the back side of the office, we could hear their TV and conversations in what I assume is their living area. There was a door that connected to another area that I believe was their office. Definitely did not feel like there was very much privacy. We were told the people they originally had in this room didn’t want to be in here, well i can understand why. The bed spread was dirty, we took it off and used our own blankets. Plugged my dryer in and popped a breaker. Just not what we wanted and felt like we paid for. I guess it doesn’t pay to book in advance and pick your cabin because you just get moved for someone else’s convenience.

Disappointed! We got LICE from this lodge. We went to visit for three nights. We never have had lice ever. We did not go anywhere else or stay the night at any other places. Came home Sunday and Monday my daughter complained of her head being itchy but just thought it was from a sunburn. I did not check her hair at that time. Come Thursday she comes to me and says that her head is really itchy and she found a bug in her hair. We looked her head over and she had lice. I called Riverside today and told them I wanted a refund for $100.00 from having to buy all the products for the seven of us. They stated that we didn’t get it there. They would not refund me the money. I told them that they should throughly clean 26c. They currently have guest staying in 26c. They told me that the guests aren’t having any issues. You will not notice right away that you have lice. It takes a couple of days before you realize that you have it.
A good company would refund the $ and take responsibility.

We had two rooms, one was a two bedroom and the other a single room. The rooms were very outdated but mostly clean. We did have food left in our fridge from previous tenants. The toilet was not connected to the floor, toaster was scary old, and furniture was more like outdoor furniture. The wood stove was nice and wood was provided. Parking lot was not kept clear of ice nor were walkways. There was clutter piled up everywhere from what appeared to be a remodel in the making. We have above tenants who had a full out party above us, Screaming and stomping and fighting outside until 3am. The next day we asked management to speak to them as it kept up the entire family and our family in the unit across the property could also hear them. The next day it happened again, my husband asked the party to move and they did move to a different unit. The third day it started again, called management and he said he never asked them to quiet down as he said he would day 1. We texted the number to get more towels and never received any. Our door wouldn't lock. Wouldn't stay here again.

This was a great location, very centralized, and easily accessible. It is a little outdated (typical of most cabins in New Mexico) but they are in the process of remodeling. Our cabin had new tiles in the bathroom and a new toilet with a bidet. It also looked like they would be adding air conditioners soon as we saw boxes of them in storage. We enjoyed the horseshoes and being able to walk anywhere we wanted in the city.

We picked Riverside Lodge & Cabins because it is across the street from the Red River Community House, where we attended a dancing event. Many of our friends also stayed here. Overall, we were very pleased. The cost was reasonable. The desk attendants and staff were friendly, helpful, and responsive to our needs. Parking was no problem. The hotel is in the center of town, so it was easy to walk to restaurants and shops. We will probably stay here again since this is an annual event.

Had a great weekend staying at the Riverside Lodge in Red River, NM. Cabin was nice, clean, and cozy when we arrived. The location in town is excellent to get around town and to the ski slopes. Pricing was very reasonable for a roomy cabin with full kitchen.

This is our go to when staying here in Red River. They have BBQ grills, hot tub, shuffle board, horseshoes and swing set and other things for kids. Staff is very pleasant and sociable. Cabins have all the basic amenities of home including ROKU with all streaming services. The old lady was happy with that, God forbid she miss an episode of Murder She Wrote. Lol. Everything is within walking distance since it is situated in the middle of town. Great restaurant Olde Tymers across the street for breakfast. Texas Reds and Sundance are 2 blocks away. Great food. Der Markt 2 blocks in the other direction if you want to buy and grill your own food. Cabins are reasonably priced compared to Best Western and others. We like it here end of story.

No. I don't think so.

Austin, Texas
I have a Question- If a family were to check in late at night, and the lady at the desk were to ask if the family wants the room for a second night, and Dad says "we're not sure yet- we'll let you know in the morning", and to that, Front desk lady says Sure, just let us know. Then what if the family pays and gets the room keys, and say they were going to bed and they decide Yes, they will call the lady at the front desk in the morning to let her know that they would like to stay a second night. Then, after a short nights sleep, Dad awakens and says to himself, "Hey Self, you need to call Front desk lady" so he does that. Then, if Front desk lady says "Great! Glad to hear that the family will be staying a second night! Just come on by later and pay! And Dad proudly says OK I will do that, and the call ends. Dad tells Mom "Hey we are all set for tonight- it's taken care of." Mom and Dad are smiling at each other as the children are all sleeping with little smiles on their faces. Birds are chirping outside the window, as Dad's phone rings- Uh-Oh, it's Front Desk Lady- wonder what she forgot. What if Front Desk Lady said "I'm sorry but we sold your room to someone else, just before you called." Would Dad be wrong to be irritated and question Front desk Lady about their policy regarding selling a room out from under a guest and family? Would Dad be wrong in asking her why she needed the family to get out in 40 minutes- if this was at 9:20 AM. Would Dad be wrong for asking the obvious- Why in the world would you kick out the Family, Rather than simply call the person who just a few minutes ago called to reserve a room? Tell THEM that someone screwed up! Dad thinks to himself wouldn't that be easier than uprooting the happy family who had already been there for a night? Front Desk woman wouldn't budge - "There's nothing we can do" Will it be likely that Dad and his family will ever stay in this place again? Or will he and Mom give Riverside a not so great review?

Hi. My name is Becky Allen. I own and manage the Riverside Lodge and Cabins. I was in the office on the morning in question and was actually the person who rented the room to a family who came to the office at 8:30 a.m. asking to stay another night. I am sorry you were disappointed with the way we take first come first serve customers. I just had no idea you wanted to stay two nights. I sincerely apologize.
