My wife and I have spent a week in Red River every summer for the last 27 years. We have stayed at many of places in Red River, and I can honestly say that the room at Wild Bill's was simply the cleanest, most comfortable room ever. The bed is first rate, without question an expensive mattress. The decor is beyond anything you will find in any other room in Red River. We have already placed our reservation for the same time next year, in the same room. We look forward to returning again and again. Thank you Lyn for the amazing work you have accomplished in the design and decor of the rooms.

Thank you for such a lovely review. We truly value our customers and their opinion. Our goal was to make the rooms as comfortable and homey as we possibly could. That included a bed that felt like a cloud! Several of our rooms have organic cotton sheets (very very soft) and lovely towels that are fluffy and big! Down comforters and very good pillows add to the feeling of home. We are so grateful that you found us and we look forward to many years of return visits!

Lyn and all the staff are AMAZING at Wild Bill's. My husband and I stayed in one of the rooms in January, the decor was beautiful and comfy and we had an beautiful view of the mountain with only a 5 minute walk to the lifts. The guys in the shop were so helpful and gave great advice. We are longtime skiers but first time snowboarders.

We are taking the kids this year and we all have countdown clocks going til our arrival. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Red River!

There is nothing more exciting than to know we have met or exceeded our guest's expectations. Wild Bill's Lodging is small, we currently have three units. Being small gives us the opportunity to provide personal attention and treat everyone like family. Our goal is for every guest to feel like they are warmly welcomed, and enjoy their living space so much, they want to return again and again! Our rooms have comfortable beds and pillows with cozy and warm linens; and we provide big fluffy towels! Each guest is treated to complimentary New Mexico Pinon Coffee in their room for the first morning of their stay. And if you are here in winter, don't forget your ski rentals...our guest receive 20% off their rental equipment when they lodge with us! Being a half block to the new Platinum Lift doesn't hurt either!

After reading all the wonderful reviews, we were let down when we checked in to the "Zia" room. It was a little dirty, and the trash hadn't been taken out from the previous guests. It smelled really bad, and there were no extra trash bags. We were told their normal cleaning lady had an emergency, and I guess good help is hard to find - especially in the off season which is when we visited. Staff was quick to respond and apologize for this and said this was not normal for them. They gave us a free coffee cup and offered to give us a free room if we come back. Also, there are a couple of maintenance items that need attention. The main item is the missing window screen over the kitchen sink. We like to open the windows to let fresh air in, but there were a lot of flies, so we couldn't. It is in a good location for skiing and walking around town.

We really wanted to like this place but there are too many drawbacks. Perhaps in the winter it would be more enjoyable. The staff is part of Wild Bill's Ski Shop, the lower floor of the building. If you need anything after 6 pm when the shop closes, or before it opens, you are out of luck. We did not realize that one of the only two lamps in the room had a burnt-out bulb until it was too late (apparently the cleaning staff does not check for dead lightbulbs and the like). Reading under a ceiling light meant sitting on the bed and squinting. The next day it took several tries to get a new bulb. There is a nice kitchenette in the room, but essentially nowhere to eat anything that you might cook - one tiny table, which also holds a stereo, and has one chair - the other chair is kept in the closet as there is no room for it to stay next to the door. The room that our traveling companion had did not have a table at all, just a kind of log bench in front of the armchair.

In our room there was one armchair and footstool and that was it for two people. There is no balcony or other way to sit outside, as the walkway in front of the entrance is very narrow and people in the other rooms are frequently going back and forth. There are blinds but no curtains; lights strung along the walkway stayed on all night. At 5 am the cooks in the BBQ place next door started to talk loudly in the back and awakened us - as there is no air-conditioning, you will have to keep your windows open to get any fresh cool air , which means that you will hear all the noisy outdoor activity. (Winter travelers at least can avoid this problem.) Next door to the rooms is a Go-Kart track, which ran almost continuously, and noisily, from morning until 9:30 or so at night. The bathroom was among the smallest we've used - something like a large telephone booth.

On the plus side the location is good for those who want to use the ski lift/zip lines or walk along the river.

If you like go carts running from morning until 9:00 PM right outside your window, then you will love this place. It was noisy, cramped, hot (no air conditioner) and no screens on the windows, so the flies and mosquitoes came in. We were supposed to stay three nights and left after two. Unfortunately, there was no vacancy anywhere in Red River or we would have moved. We are NM natives and looked forward to relaxing. Had to leave the windows open and the noise wouldn't even allow a nap. We were promised a refund for the last night because we left early, but it never happened. My home is more of a vacation than being there. We were in the room that we couldn't both walk around the bed at the same time as it was too narrow.

Wild Bills was one of the first places I called when looking for a place to stay at Red River. I talked with Lynn and absolutely adored her. It was a little more than what we wanted to spend but I couldn't get away from how wonderful she was to work with. The next day I called to book the trip and talked with Terri who again was equally delightful! Their customer service over the phone was awesome and when we got there we were greeted with the same warm welcome. Our room faced the mountain and was within walking distance from the Platinum chair. I am not sure if there is a better location for skiers in Red River. Wild Bills is also a ski shop, all you have to do is go right downstairs to get your equipment and off you go! It is conveniently located and walking distance to everything in town. We didn't use our vehicles one time. Lynn gave us tips one where to eat and things to enjoy. We will definitely stay here on our next trip!

We were recent guests at Wild Bill's Lodging, spending two nights in the Durango room, which was attractive, spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room to spread out, lots of shelf space, as well as convenient hooks by the door for our keys (very handy!). Our hosts were extremely friendly, helpful, and especially accommodating when we needed extra assistance (due to an unexpected situation). Overall, the room was a comfy home-base as we enjoyed the Red River area, and our hosts were great!

We stayed at Wild Bill's last week and had the best time. Lynn was SO helpful in telling us where to find activities and making sure that we were comfortable in our room. The room was fully stocked so we could cook in if we wanted. The location is fantastic bc you are right in the middle of Main Street and have easy access to everything. Beautiful view of the mountain!

Staying in the Adobe room now. Great cozy accommodations. Very nice linens, fully equipped kitchen and plenty warm...it was -3 this morning.

Great view of the “face” and very centrally located. I always rent skis from Wild Bills (for 20+ years)...never disappointed. If you are skiing it’s hard to beat the location. Very friendly and accommodating folks.

If you are coming to Red River, give this place a try. Here’s a pic of the “face”...very short walk to the platinum lift.
