This is a hard review because the things that were good were deserving of five stars. The host was very attentive, accommodating, and friendly. She took extra effort to make sure breakfast was according to our liking and asked about food allergies and such. She made every effort to provide the most delicious breakfasts. The tap water is fresh from an underground well/aquifer(?), which was crisp and refreshing. The bed was comfortable. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. In spite of a few spiders and such - which could be expected in a wooded area such as this - everything was very clean. I believe the room we were in was called "Rosa." The bathroom/kitchen area is all in the same open space. I couldn't quite figure if having a toilet so close to the refrigerator was weird or super convenient, but we went with it. The lighting is dark, and there's no magnifying mirror so bring your own lighted mag mirror. I understand you can request brighter bulbs, but it wasn't that big of a deal for us. Wifi wasn't that great from inside the room, but was fine in the courtyard. Be aware that if you take a romantic bath, there is a door nearby that leads to a dining area through which sound easily travels. (just sayin'). I heard there were trails but we never quite found them...it felt like we were tresspassing on someone else's property. The B&B could benefit from some signage indicating where the trails are. The shower is extremely slippery and could also benefit from a little warning sign or some anti-slip feature. There is a dog that roams the property. We are dog lovers, but having a dog poop in your vicinity while you're trying to eat breakfast is a little off-putting. Also...don't feed the dog! You will be scolded if you do. (again...signage). And now to my biggest complaint...As you're walking up the flagstone steps and around to the entrance, you must watch your steps. If you are watching your steps, as you should be, you will miss the very low transom at the entrance, as my husband did and walked right into the bar at full speed. From the looks of it he wasn't the first person to hit his head on the transom. When I mentioned it I was told, "He should have looked where he was going." and "There is a sign there." Okay first of all, before you come to that spot you are actually walking down steps so how can you look up and down at the same time? Also, the sign is placed ABOVE the transom. Chances are if you don't see the bar, you won't see the sign. I am a fall prevention specialist, and this coupled with the slippery shower floor were unacceptable hazards. This facility would benefit from a few tastefully placed signs at eye level or lower. There was just one other hazard that can be mitigated...the entrance/exit is on a fairly busy highway. Just as we were exiting, a large-ish truck was turning in off the highway. If we hadn't been going slowly and carefully, he would have hit us head on just before we exited. I think a large circular mirror judiciously placed so in-turning traffic can see who's coming out, and exiting cars can see what's coming down the highway would be smart. In summary, like I said, the things that were good were very good. But the hazards should be mitigated.

Property's Favorite Review
I just spent a week at Adobe and Pines Inn, along with my artist's group, and it was a terrific experience. The attractive photos on their website are merely a hint of the onsite pleasures. The location has many meandering paths, secluded places to sit and contemplate, stone walls, fascinating outdoor sculptures, labyrinth, etc. We especially liked the dining room with a blazing Franklin stove, rustic chairs, and a view of the outdoors. Rooms are cozy, quiet, and have interesting décor -- outdoor/shared spaces are welcoming. Treat yourself.

Our casita was perfect and the grounds were peaceful and well manicured. The breakfasts were unique each day and tasty. The host was very attentive to our dietary preferences and to the details during our stay. We travel frequently and it was one of our best stays ever. We would highly recommend it for visits to the Taos area.

This was our second visit to this charming property. Both times we brought our daughter, who slept well on the hide-a-bed in the Puerta Roja room. It's really more like a small casita, with well-stocked kitchenette and large luxury bath. The property is absolutely enchanting with huge trees and paths with planter beds, all of which attract a great diversity of birds. The substantial and delicious breakfasts were served at our garden patio dining set which was almost always in the shade. Breakfasts both days included a carafe of fresh OJ, a delicious omelette or fritatta, a cup of fresh fruit with mint, and a fresh-baked breakfast bread -- one morning cinnamon rolls, the next morning homemade plum bread. The innkeeper gave us a french press so we could make the organic coffee provided in the room just the way we like it. We also ate our takeout dinners at our table. The location is super convenient, located on the main road into town. The downside to this is a bit of traffic noise in the outdoor spaces, but we did not notice it in our room, and at night with the windows open over the bed we slept great. We never needed the cooler, though the highs were in the 90s because it cooled off so nicely in the evenings and the room stayed cool. The wifi was weak in the room, but worked just fine outside.
