After several owners, the property was purchased by the current owners. In 2008 they tore down the old motel and had a new one built. It is now a 20 room motel with 14 rooms having 2 queen beds, 6 rooms having 1 king bed and 1 room is designated as a handicapped accessible unit. They decorated the new property with furnishings from the Marriott Corporation, added a dining room to the cafe, and established a trailer court behind the motel for both long and short-term rentals.

Our family spent 5 days at the Largo Motel and ate alot of our meals at the Cafe. The motel is a no frills room but it was clean and the bed was comfy and the water in the shower stayed HOT for 5 showers every night!! The food was great too, we ate almost everything on the menu.

We needed a night's pitstop on the road between Roswell and Monument Valley, and Quemado was pretty much the only conveniently-located town with somewhere to stay! We were really lucky that the Largo had a room available at short notice. We booked over the phone a couple of nights beforehand, and the owner kindly warned us to look out for elk if arriving at dusk because it was hunting season. She was right - we saw a massive one grazing by the side of the road as we were coming in, at dusk... We arrived well into the evening, and received a warm welcome from the owner and her sweet cat. Our room was spacious, warm and clean, but as we pulled back the covers on the bed, a spider with a red spot on its back ran out and we failed to catch it before it hid away again. Being clueless Londoners out of our natural habitat, we had no idea if it was dangerous and couldn't find a match for it on Google images (such townies), so we asked the owner if she knew what it might be and if we should be concerned! Not only did she just put us in a new room without question, the next morning we found that she'd comped our breakfast in the adjacent restaurant. We were both really taken aback by these gestures, as we hadn't complained or moaned at all - she just did it for us. A lesson in warm hospitality to take back to London...…

We decided to stay here when we realized we would be getting to our planned destination too late. The price was a little high, but the room was very nice. Recently remodeled, everything was new and immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large. The shower was a little small, but the towels were awesome. The woman in the office was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful meal at the cafe that night as well as breakfast the next morning. Super friendly and great food. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

We spent one night here last week - the rooms were very nice - clean and had everything you need. I was pleasantly surprised. Phyllis, the resident manager, is lovely and her wonderful cat Largo Annie a trip - make sure you ask to meet her. We also ate at the Largo Cafe and it too was good - especially breakfast. If you are traveling in this area, stop and spend the night.

In the middle of nowhere, so it was great to find a clean hotel with a friendly reception. We only stayed one night and it was comfortable. Lots of towels. A bit expensive considering, but aside from 1 B&B, there's no where else to stay. Be sure to ask for ice before reception closes for the night as there is no ice machine WiFi is slow

Quemado is a family home for the elders and we returned for a burial. The only motel available is the Largo, there is another restaurant which we didn’t try. It is under new ownership and management for the motel and there were some admin quirks but posed no problems. The rooms were clean, new mattresses and towels. WiFi access in the motel was poor but not unexpected. The price was fair. The manager was attentive, friendly and new-just arrived 3 days prior. I think once she gets it transitioned to her style, it will be well run. It needs some tech upgrade for check-in. The Largo Cafe is under the same new ownership and is under more major reconstruction than the motel. There was no sidewalk and the entrance was difficult for mom using a walker. There was no printed menu and a very basic menu was presented verbally. The owner of the cafe was also the waitress, there was a new cook for one meal. Breakfast had the usual offerings for NM: Breakfast burrito, eggs, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, gravy, sausage and bacon. The breakfast burrito with green chile was bland, the potatoes were hashed instead of diced, the chile had no heat or taste. A bit of an embarrassment to NM. The biscuits and gravy were inedible. The gravy was so thin that it just soaked the biscuit and it arrived completely soggy. One family member had not received her biscuits after 30 minutes. For each meal the owner was our wait staff, and we didn’t get a lot of follow up, actually nearly none except a couple of coffee refills. Lunch was basic sandwiches BLT, club, grilled cheese, hamburger. The sandwiches were good enough. Same wait staff. No salad bar or salads available for lunch or dinner. The prices was reasonable. In order for us to get the ticket, one of us had to go the register, which needs some serious tech. upgrade. The restaurant as well as the rest of the town closed at 5. I cannot recommend the cafe because of the service, the poor food preparation/taste and the unsafe entrance. It might have been better for them to close during remodel. The two star is the for the cafe, I would give the motel a 4. Pie Town is a few miles up the road is known for their food but doesn’t have a motel.…

This restaurant and café is somewhere to stay far away from if you are a person of color. The kitchen is not cleaned properly, you can tell it's dirty from the waiting area, when I visit there raw meat is always out in the kitchen even when the air conditioning isn't working in the entire building. They never have everything on the menu, when we've visited there we're constantly having to ask what is and is not available. The excuse is always that the managers and owners haven't purchased enough food to last a week until the next delivery. As a family of color and with dreadlocks we're constantly getting dirty looks from the owners of the Largo Café and Motel, we've tried to have conversations with them and they look at us like we're dirty and ignore us. There are no people of color that work at this location and the last time we visited one of the white employees told us that the owners of the Motel and Café told the Motel Manager "We will not rent rooms to people with dreadlocks or people of color again." After this the manager no longer works there, all the employees of color are no longer working there and the location is now only open from 6am - 5pm with a VERY limited menu. Please disregard all the comments saying that this place is a "gem" and "one of a kind" because it is no longer. When it was managed by Kathy and Carl it was much better, however, a majority of this town is racist toward black and brown people and the experience has caused me and my family to cease supporting The Large Café and Motel. Additionally, during hunting season the number of racist people in the town doubles as a majority of the people who stay at the Largo Hotel have the same belief system as the owners of the Largo Café. The managers that just quit the Largo have made racist comments toward me and my husband, our guests, friends and family members we have encouraged to go to the Largo. DO NOT STOP HERE! The hotel rooms are even worse. Every room we've ever rented there has dead insects underneath the bed, in the corners, webs in the bathroom doorways and the minute we leave rumors always start that we've smoked marijuana in the room, simply because we have dreadlocks. Some of the cleaning people who have keys to the rooms have gone into the rooms at night using their keys after hours and they do not have respect for customer privacy as they enter the rooms when people are out of their rooms.…

I just don't understand the negative reviews. I loved this motel. The parking is NOT bad. You park right in front of your room, which I love. My bed was NOT bad, it was cozy. The lady cleaning the kitchen after closing opened the door for me and checked me in. The room rate was more than reasonable. The restaurant is good too. It's been a year since I was there and getting ready to go back. I don't know if the rates have changed or not. Perhaps whoever said the rooms were 250.00 a night was there in elk season, I don't know, but I only paid 65.00. It was clean, comfortable, beds were nice, and the room had all the appliances you need...I stand by my review.

The village of Quemado is remote. The only option is the Largo and they price themselves with that in mind. I'm honest and critical of motels, so much so that I often sleep in the back of my SUV rather than fork out money for a simple overnite stay at budget level motel. Anyway, I stopped at the Largo Motel for a night. The good: clean room with decent food available next door at the Largo Cafe. The bad: problem hooking into the Wifi. I use an I-Pad so its simple to connect to available networks but I wasn't able to tap into the Largo's system. And the bathroom faucet water output was very weak due to a clogged faucet aerator so I had to do a little on the spot maintenance. I wasn't able to judge the noise level since the place was pretty much empty. Would I stay there again? Not sure, would depend on the situation.…
