What a great place to dine and relax! The food is amazing, and priced very well. There is something for everyone on the menu for the whole family! They also serve wine and beer. You can relax in the patio and enjoy local entertainment. I love this place!
Almost every hotel in Las Cruces is on a major interstate highway and a chain. If you want authentic New Mexican character, stay in Mesilla at Josefinas Old Gate. It’s located in an old adobe building, steps from the Mesilla plaza. The walls are 3 feet thick, the ceilings are original vigas. There are only two suites and breakfast at Josefinas restaurant is included. The suite is clean, well furnished, large and quiet. There are two semi private patio/gardens outside your door.
We got up early and went to Josefina's Old Gate for breakfast. We have been for lunch in years gone by, but never breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with green chile and cheese, my husband had Bowl of Pappas. As in the past, the food was delicious, served hot and quickly. I've never had a bad meal at Josefinas, nor have I heard anyone say they were disappointed. On this morning we sat on the patio. Visiting Josefina's is like going on a long needed vacation. Sitting just off the "Old" Mesilla Plaza, it is an easy short walk. Coming through the gate you enter a very peaceful and beautiful world. The patio is lovely and inviting. The inside is also lovely, but on a cool summer morning we wanted to enjoy the outdoors. There is plenty of cover for later in the day, the tables, plants, trees, and build-in patio covers are very inviting and put you in good spirits. The entire restaurant is clean. The staff is friendly and professional. Josefina's Old Gate is a MUST if you are in Mesilla or Las Cruces.…
I have eaten there many times as a resident of Mesilla. A friendly and lovely interior combined with the simple and elegant menu creates a wonderful place for dining. I have mostly eaten weekend lunches there. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great setting, quiet and relaxing. I sat outside to enjoy my lunch. The Red Chile Pork was fantastic, the rice and bean sides were perfect. It was nice to simply sit outside and enjoy. Service was prompt. I thoroughly enjoy southern NM and this place epitomizes the dining and hospitality of the area. I will return next time I am in the area.
