I came to visit my boyfriend and family for a week in Albuquerque, and my boyfriend surprised me with a one night date in Madrid. We usually visit this town during the holidays, but we have never spent the night before. The Mineshaft is always a stop for us, and this time we discovered that they have lodging! There were three rooms just beyond the patio of the tavern. The night we were there, we saw some social distanced live music, and ate the best green chile burger. We stayed at the bar almost til closing, and walked to our comfy accommodations. Our room had everything we needed, a king bed, fridge, coffee maker, ac, etc. I’m hoping to visit again soon, and check into one of the other rooms next time.

We stayed in the large unit 3 for 4 nights. It was beautiful and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. Enjoyed morning coffee looking at the mountain view on the little outdoor deck. We could walk anywhere in Madrid easily.

When we first arrived - and had to be shown the way to our suite from the Mine Shaft Tavern - I had my doubts...but once we were ushered into the room we were WOWED !! The owner, Lori Lindsey, had booked us into the unit with the wood-burning fireplace, which was wonderful for a 5-night stay in December, and her sister Lynn was in charge of showing us how to work the big-screen TV and the heating system. Keurig coffee-maker, small fridge, table and chairs for eating in, a VERY comfy king size bed plus a couch for enjoying the fire ! Bottled water was furnished for drinking and coffee-making, since the water supply in this former mining town DOES have that sulfer/rotten egg smell. Parking reserved just for us (as this small town does NOT have much public parking). We really enjoyed this room - and the location of Madrid along the Turquoise Trail offers easy access to Santa Fe, Taos, and Los Alamos. We loved it !! Only downside was we could not get cell service in the room - and it was spotty in town.

My brother and I wanted to visit Santa Fe, but did not want to pay Santa Fe prices. I found the Inn at Mine Shaft Tavern online and booked the room with two beds. It was a great stay! I was a bit worried about the noise staying behind a bar, but it shuts down at 7, and it is extremely peaceful and quiet here at night, and the room is very comfortable, even the twin bed. The residents are all very friendly and the staff at the Mine Shaft are very accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

My wife, 12 year-old son and I recently spent the night here after detouring here during a quick trip through Albuquerque. I've been stopping in at the Tavern for year's now and realized my son had never been to Madrid so we thought we'd check for room availability and since one was available we detoured to Madrid for dinner and an overnight. We stayed in the the "Green Room", room #1 and it was clean, comfortable and stocked with coffee, bottled water, a strong internet signal and satellite/cable tv.

The location is perfect especially if you've had a beer or two and it's no longer wise to drive and it's located directly behind the Mineshaft Tavern where we had dined. The night we were staying there was live entertainment at the Tavern which we considered a bonus. Don't worry about noise because we didn't have any. The building is far enough away from the Tavern that there was no noise at all, just the calm, dark, quiet of the country night with stars visible right to the edge of the horizon. Peaceful surroundings indeed...

In the interest of full disclosure, the night we were there experienced temperatures into the mid-twenties and the room heater was barely adequate for the room but I discussed this afterwards with the owner who was very understanding, apologetic, and promised to remedy the situation. Because of the lateness of the hour when we discovered this, it wasn't possible to address the situation at the time without taking a chance of awakening the wrong people in order to address the situation. Besides, it wasn't anything a hot shower upon awakening in the morning didn't fix, no harm done !

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and the fact that it's located right behind the Mine Shaft Tavern with it's historic bar and great food is a bonus !

At first glance, this cleverly camouflaged structure appears to be just another outbuilding within the confines of the historical Mineshaft Tavern. Its corrugated metal coating belies the well appointed spacious room which awaits within. Everything one needs is thoughtfully provided by Lori Lindsey and her staff. There is even a fireplace which would be lovely on a cold winter evening. From the small balcony just outside the room, one can relax while looking down upon the Mineshaft itself.

The bed is comfy. The furnishings, the artwork all contribute to the ambiance. Bottled water is provided for drinking since Madrid's water can smell of sulphur at times. But that is part of the Madrid Experience!

Perhaps the best feature of all is that your bed and bath are just a few uphill steps from the lively bar with its delicious food, its talented local musicians, and the opportunity to dance the night away.

My two teenage granddaughters and I stayed at the Inn in July for five nights. We stayed in room #4, on the end, with parking next to our deck, which made loading and unloading convenient. Our room had a very comfortable king and twin bed with top of the line linens. We had a medium size refrigerator/freezer, a full size Keurig coffee maker, a large flat screen television, and free WiFi in our room. We enjoyed our short walk to dinner every evening at the famous Mine Shaft Tavern. We traveled to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos easily from this location. Most important to me was feeling safe and being able to really relax when we were there. I have to add, that I especially enjoyed a glass of wine on the covered deck in the evening while the girls were getting ready for bed. I will be back!!!

My friend and I stayed here on a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This was easily one of my favorite parts of the vaccation! Everyone in Madrid is extremely welcoming and will go the extra mile to make sure you feel well taken care of! The staff at the Inn made sure we felt more like family than guests!

The room was huge, with a king-size bed, bathtub, seating area, and a table with a microwave and refrigerator. it was great being in the middle of town, close to everything. I loved sitting out on the deck in the evenings and listening to the music. There is always music and it is so good.

This hotel is a great place to stay when in Madrid. Trust, honesty, caring, fun, cleanliness just to name a few. Special mention to Lynne. What a great host. This reasonably priced hotel is the place to see and be seen. There are surprises at every turn. Can’t wait to get back for another stay.
