We stayed at the Casitas as part of a large group for a birthday party. We had a great time- the casitas were well stocked with everything we needed. The casitas were clean and comfortable. My only suggestion is to bring water shoes for the lake as it can be very rocky. After we left we realized my daughter left some of her jewelry in the bedroom. We called the dam site and the manager was able to locate the jewelry and even shipped them to us at no charge. That is outstanding customer service!

I stayed at cabin seven for two nights this visit. I brought my girlfriend and paid for a slip in the marina so I could leave my boat in the water. This time the cabin had a convection cooker next to the microwave. Pots pans dishes cups utensils I like the cabins, the view from the front porch. This visit the shower did not work properly. I told the office after my first night but nothing was done. The water would get scalding hot and then icy cold, then the water pressure dwindled to nothing. Very frustrating trying to get a hot shower on a cold day. My girlfriend was not happy about the hard bed but I was fine. I really like the place and will go back as I have stayed in the cabins twice before. I think I was not moved to another cabin because of COVID restrictions. I was able to stream on the WiFi, cell service is poor to None. Great view, quiet and mellow place. Cabins are simple with no tv so bring a book or some cards or stream on your laptop or iPad. The nearest store is about a fifteen minute drive so bring what you need. Still not a bad drive to town. I do like this place

We loved the place. While we only secured an RV spot, the landscape and scenery were gorgeous. Fishing was a few steps away, plus there are trails to take in the natural beauty. The staff was also extremely helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

We "stumbled" upon this lodge. It was a fantastic place and we will definitely be returning. The lodge check in center employee Karen was wonderful. She was so incredibly nice and helpful. Her knowledge of the history of the area was so interesting and she was very willing to share with us. She provided excellent customer service and is truly an asset to the lodge owners. Thank you Karen!

We stopped in the Visitor Center and were welcomed immediately by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff member named Will. Will is a great wealth of knowledge supported by great personal enthusiasm for the place. It is very interesting to see what the CCC and WPA did for our country back then, and how we have, unfortunately, allowed much of their work to deteriorate due to insufficient upkeep.

We are full-timers in a travel trailer and last February we boondocked off the shore of Elephant Butte Reservoir at the Dam Site Historic District's campground. It was an incredible find at $10/night outside the EB State Park campground. Drinking water and a sewage dump was a couple hundred yards up the dirt road adjacent to the resort's casitas. This year we decided to spend the winter at the Dam Site after falling in love with the local hot springs and eateries. We found a site away from the main campground to get privacy and paid $300/month + electricity ($60-$100) and water and sewer hookups. The campground is a lot like the town of TorC itself - scruffy and easy to overlook - but if you look closer, you'll notice there's a lot of detailed history in the resort's aged but beautiful rock work that make up the multi-tiered hills surrounding the resort itself. You don't have to listen too hard to notice the quiet and solitude as you gaze out at Elephant Butte sitting in the middle of the reservoir. The resort and campground is quiet and slow enough right now to appreciate the dedication of the local staff (Karen and Will in the resort office) who are part of owner Neal Brown's dream and mission to restore the historic resort to its former glory. Personally, we prefer the rough edges and quiet as it is right now but the potential is there for so much more. It's a great place for a weekend or a longer stay for those that prefer the slower lane - it's worth it.

Moving from California to T or C, I needed a place to stay that would be furnished and not mind that I was short term. Given that I knew nothing about the area or the lake or dam, it was fortuitous to find these cabins. I stayed for over a month, actually about a month and a half before I found something in town closer to the hot springs and everything else. The beds are hard, there is little to sporadic internet service, but the view is to die for and the people who work out there on the renovations are exceptionally friendly, and kind. I would recommend it to anyone who wants privacy and a fantastic view.

Thank You for your kind reviews. We strive to provide a safe clean space in our beautiful surroundings. We are working to upgrade our internet service but being in such a rural area our options are limited. We hope the view makes up for that.

We stayed in the newly renovated Lodge. Great views, exceptional hospitality, and clean rooms. If you’re looking for a true New Mexico experience- look no further. This place is rich with history and nostalgia. This was our view from our front door. We loved it and can’t wait to go back.

Wow! We were greeted by the hostess with the mostess! Karen is an extremely thoughtful and gracious host. She made my wife's day! We stayed in a 1940's era Civilian Conservation Corps casita. They are under new ownership and are being remodeled. They have perfect patios for lounging and enjoying the views - but bring your own lawn chairs. Keep in mind there is a narrow road between you and the hillside down to the lake. Fantastic sunset and sunrise views! The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans but the bed is a little hard and the furniture a little worn. Still it was a clean place at a great price with character and ambiance. We had a great weekend and we will return!
