We spent the night at St. James Hotel while in the area for other business. We had the Mary Lambert Room with in-room bath and toilet. This is a 1870's vintage hotel and it shows, but that's what makes it neat. Very uneven foundation with lots of creaks in the floor. We had a great meal in the restaurant with... More

I am a old west history fanatic. I love western cowboy art work. This place has both!!! It was like Heaven on earth for me. This was place my husband became an art lover. It honestly like stepping back in time. When I looked out windows I expected to see horses and buggies. It is marvelous. Such a beautiful beautiful... More

This hotel is an historic old-west hotel filled with western memorabilia. There are ghosts there, but with all the creaky floors you'd never hear them. They keep one room padlocked due to an uneasy spirit. We had a very good dinner there too.

We stayed in the historical part of the hotel and enjoyed the ambiance. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was friendly. The restaurant also had a great breakfast and was reasonably priced. I would love to stay there again.

Millions must have been spent in the restoration of the St. James Hotel by the owner of the famous UU Bar Ranches; this is a "museum" quality restoration of a famous and historical western hotel, eating house and bar. Outlaws, senators, artists, ranch hands and ranch owners have all stayed here. The lobby and bar are like stepping back to time... More

The St. James Hotel for a lunch. Four of us ate here around 2:00. Place was not crowded. Service was ok. The waiter was good but it took quite a while to get the meals. We did not order anything extravagant, not sure what the holdup was and there was no explanation for the delay. Food overall was good. I... More

We visited this historic hotel/restaurant, after our 12 day mountain hike at Philmont. The hotel, restaurant, and bar are decorated with incredible western paintings, sculptures, and cowboy artifacts. The service was great, no complaints, and the food was delicious. I recommend the buffalo burger, as it may have been the best burger I've tasted.

Stayed in the annex (new) portion of the hotel with my wife after a Philmont trek. The decor in the room was a little dated, but it was okay. We had 2 queen beds, ours had a definite low spot in the middle. Overall though, the atmosphere of the hotel was outstanding, the staff was super friendly and we really... More

Had to stay in Cimarron to drop my son off at Philmont Scout Ranch. One of the most interesting places I have ever been. The history of the place is amazing and it feels like you are stepping back in time. The rooms are restored to their original splendor. The ghost stories make it even more interesting. Even if you... Great historical place to visit. The atmosphere is amazing. Highly recommend the stay. Very clean, staff friendly. The food is fantastic! Not much to see in Cimarron, but this place is worth going there to see and experience. No pool or hot tub if that's important to you.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Get into the "spirit" of the Old West at the Express St. James Hotel. Relax in a room where frontier legends stayed but beware, some of our "guests" have never checked out. For those seeking less excitement stay in the modern annex side. Guests can choose from a variety of entrees in the restaurant complimented by a drink in the Bar. ... more   less
