We stayed in the annex. The hotel is old but very well-cared for. The history and ghost stories are fun, the patio is very nice, and our room was well-maintained and updated. The restaurant was really slow, food was average, & the lady who seated us snatched a menu out of our 14 yr old son's hand and told him... More

Spent one night in the Waite Phillips suite at the historic St. James Hotel in Cimarron, New Mexico built in 1872. No air conditioning in the main hotel, but lots of history in the building, with its own ghosts, and an antique bar and tin ceiling full of 14 bullet holes deposited by famous Old West outlaws and lawmen.

After traveling back and forth to Philmont Scout Ranch many times my husband and sons finally spent the night at the famous St. James since they had mom along with them this time. What a cool experience to stay in a place with so much history. The St. James is completely different from any place we've stayed before. The Waite... More

We have been here before and were excited to be eating here again. Unfortunately they did not have the breakfast bar we had before. The food was wonderful that we ordered. We were not disappointed. We hope to be back in the future. After your meal take a walk down to the old mill - very interesting!

I stayed in the annex this time, but I have stayed in the historic section several times as well. The room was functional and very clean. This was no phone in the room, but I did not need it anyway. The staff was very helpful at checkin and checkout. The onsite restaurant was nice also. The food was good, but... More

Stayed in the newly-renovated Wyatt Earp room for one night on our way through New Mexico - Cimarron is a short detour off I25. The room was just fantastic, the bed was soooo comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate! Staff was very friendly and the restaurant food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent. For fun we left our phone recorder on... More

I stayed in the "new side," the room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the heating system was a noisy popping baseboard heater. The room was very average compared t other historic hotels such as the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas NM. The Bar and restaurant look and feel awesome! The restaurant food is really good and the staff... What says Mother',s Day better than spending it at a haunted hotel? My daughter and I stayed in The Annie Oakley Suite. She was in the sitting room when I decided to go to bed. I had just climbed into bed when something started caressing my hair. I turned over and the experience continued. I yelled for my daughter. By... More

My prospecting partner and I stayed in the main hotel ( room 11)- 2 bedrooms. Before going to bed I knocked on the padlocked never rented room 18 (supposebly haunted) across from our room and jokingly said "Hey wake up in there". In the middle of the night I felt something pulling down my covers. I opened my eyes and... More

Get into the "spirit" of the Old West at the Express St. James Hotel. Relax in a room where frontier legends stayed but beware, some of our "guests" have never checked out. For those seeking less excitement stay in the modern annex side. Guests can choose from a variety of entrees in the restaurant complimented by a drink in the Bar. ... more   less
