Overlooking paddy fields and farm houses, Drubchhu is developed on the ruins of an old granary which was built by Zhabdung Jigme Choegyal more than a hundred years ago. We have a big room under the Drubchhu cafe. It has nice view over the valley and padi field. However, the heater is small and not sufficient for such a big room. The hotel staff got us an additional small mobile heater but it brings not much help. Again, we are freezing in the winter.

The drive from Thimpu after breakfast to Punakha was through the hills and we reached Drubchhu Resort just around noon. As we alighted from the car the idyllic setting of the resorts envelopes you. 98 The resort is amidst paddy fields with hills all around. The rooms are in blocks at different levels with many having a view of paddy fields. The room we stayed was large in size with a king size bed. It had a coffee table with chairs, television and a large bathroom with running hot water. The resort is owned and run by two sisters and almost 85% staff are ladies who are always smiling and hospitable. The resort has a restaurant which serves buffet breakfast and dinners. The food is a mix of Continental - Indian and Chinese. The food was good and they seem to have a good Chef to manage the kitchen. They also have a very nice bar managed by a efficient lady who has learnt to mix cocktails through online videos. The stay was extremely comfortable and the service at the resort was like a cherry on the cake. If you are planning a holiday to Bhutan keep stay at Drubchhu Resort as a part of your itinerary.

We stayed 3 nights here on a holiday. The place is a little outside Punakha on a slope. Since it is out in the open, the view is breathtaking. They have rooms at different levels. Rooms are very spacious and well provided. Breakfast and dinner was included in our package. They have a regular menu and a special menu to cater to individual taste. They made good Indian food for us, over and above the regular fare, all of which were very tasty. Staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. They grow their own vegetables and fruits to a large extent, so food is as fresh as you can get. Very nice experience. Strongly recommended.
