Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while we explored Bhutan for 2 weeks. We felt so welcomed and comfortable. The owner/hosts did more than we could have asked to help us feel at ease. Our room was attractive and comfortable and the food was the best we have had in Bhutan. The location was ideal for accessing the Dzong Festival which we explored 3 of our days. We are sad to leave but hope others can enjoy it as much as we did.

This is a 3 star lodge but the owners go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. Room is cold you've to switch on heater in the bathroom before taking a shower. Room is clean, hot water flask even have bathrobe that's really appreciated after a long trek as most of our clothes are dirty.
Food is excellent, you just need to tell owner what you need and like and they'll try their best. I would like to suggest the bathroom shower hot water jet to be a lot stronger.
Wifi is available though not fast in the room.
Otherwise a lovely stopover after a long trek in the mountains.

On the whole this was an amazing experience. This lodge does make you feel at home with lots of kind attentions from the family that runs it. Nice cozy rooms heated before my arrival and perfectly clean. During my stay I also got to know the kitchen, they serve the best local food I had in Bhutan.
My stay was part of a trip in Bhutan that was organized by Gasey (the owner) and his grandson Nima. During the trip Gasey also introduced me to visit local celebrations, and often took me unexpectedly 'behind the scenes' on several occasions.

We immensely enjoyed our stay at Jakar Village Lodge! We felt like we were being welcomed into a family home. Lucky was a wonderful hostess and cook. She served our meals with grace. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Lucky and all generations of her family. She accommodated my wheat sensitivity by providing local buckwheat noodles and pancakes! The proximity of JVL to the Dzong was perfect as we were attending the Jakar festival. Our room was lovely and painted in the local Bhutanese style. The folding of the towels to look like a black necked crane was a special added touch. We highly recommend JVL!

While exploring the wonders of the Bumthang Valley in central Bhutan, we based at Jakar Village Lodge. This delightful and traditional lodge was a pleasure to come home to - large and pleasant rooms, great food and 5-star hospitality from the family who runs it. Nestled beneath an ancient Dzong and surrounded by inspiring and beautiful country and vistas, it was a pleasure to converse with the inter-generational owners and their lovely daughter, about the history and relevance of the district. A great experience.

My son and I had a three days stay at the lodge. The family of the family-owned hotel has dedicated itself to make the guests happy and offer the best service possible. Our every wish was read from our lips. Food was delicious. If I may make a wish, I would like to have the dining room be warmer, because it is a nice room with a beautiful view. Thank you to all staff and family. We had a lovely time!

Our stay here coincided with the Jambay Lhakang festival. The hotel is very convenient for this.
From the minute we arrived up to the time we left, the lovely husband and wife couple Sonam and Lucky who manage and own the hotel looked after our every need. They both work incredibly hard, being available at breakfast, serving tea and biscuits in the lounge (always offered, never requested) when returning in the afternoon and supervising the buffet dinner that varies every night. Their attention to detail is second to none, probably the most hands-on personal service we have experienced at any hotel anywhere in the world.
The food has been excellent made with high quality ingredients. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped which made for a perfect stay.

Bumthang is beautiful.. we visited the many amazing temples, went to Tang valley, did a picnic, etc. Coming back to Jakar Village Lodge after long days of travel was like coming back home, that is the level of comfort and familiarity we felt here in the short stay of two nights. Sonam and Nima are amazing hosts and their two children are adorable! They took special care to make food that we would like and packed us an elaborate, yummy affair for our picnic. The two evenings were spent in the dining area, chatting and sharing stories and laughs with the hosts.. loved the experience!
