We met Tomor in the streets of Mangalem, where he saw us with our big backpacks, gave us a big smile and asked us if we were interested in staying at his guesthouse. This warm and funny man made an impression on us so we gladly accepted his offer! He speaks English enough to communicate the most important things, the guesthouse is cosy and clean with comfy beds. Breakfast was traditional Albanian and his wife cooks everything. As Tomor explained "No fabrique! Everything my wife in kitchen." ❤️ We were very happy with our stay ❤️

We stayed here for one night in August 2017 - two couples in two double bedrooms with a shared bathroom, spotless clean and comfortable, in the middle of the lovely Mengalem quarter just in front of the Bachelor's Mosque - really good value for money. Best to book in advance by telephoning ahead. The real highlight are the hosts - Tomor and his wife - the kindest and most helpful people we met in our stay in Albania. Tomor speaks very good Italian and English gave us lots of good info on the city and arranged a taxi for us for early the following day. The breakfast is also a real treat: fresh home-cooked pastries, homemade jam, fruit, herbal tea... Lovely and highly recommended. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Berat!

I stayed two nights. Spotless. Nice cool room. The star attraction is the owner who was very attentive and seemed a genuinely lovely person. I had trouble finding the place initially - it is DIRECTLY behind the batchelors mosque. Berat has lovely ottoman architecture and is a very busy place with bars and restaurants. The castle and museum is a must and cross the bridge to eat....

Tomor and his wife are lovely people who made us feel so welcome. It was a little hard to find but that is because it is in the UNESCO listed part of town just behind the bachelors mosque. It is basic but all you need and a good price. Added to our enjoyment of Berat.
