Big, modern, anonymous international hotel which could be anywhere in the world. I hade a huge room with complimentary tea/coffee, toiletries but no face/hand towels, no hair dryer and hot water only till 9 pm. Breakfast implied long waiting and at the end it was an overcooked and cold poached egg with an improbable sausage and some pieces of fruit,... More

Simple room with 2 queen-sized beds and a balcony. Clean and comfortable. There is no air-con but the weather at Berastagi is so cooling (around 20 degree Celsius), so it's ok. Great views of the beautiful landscaped gardens from the room balcony. The lower part of the door to the balcony is louvred, allowing cool air into the room, even... More

High end lobby hides low end rooms. Staff unwelcoming, angry towards guests questions. No elevator of air conditioning. Travelers to Indonesia gives this hotel a miss. The country has plenty of great hotels.

Spacious clean rooms with a fine dining room/bar and a huge lobby. The pool is set in landscaping with flowers and bushes in the surrounding area. I went there with a tour group but paid extra for a room with a pool view which I recommend to do the same. Considering the hotel is older, some might complain for the... More

We booked 4 rooms as a group visiting the Lake Toba area. Lake Toba was beautiful and was a fantastic experience. Unfortunately Grand Mutiara Brastagi was very disappointing. When we arrived there was a very loud karaoke party in the courtyard. The noise could be heard even in the hallway of the hotel as we approached our 4 rooms. All... More

The hotel looks 5 star from the outside, the lobby is 4 star , the rooms are 2 star and the service is less than 2 star. The hotel has neither air conditioning nor fan. There is no elevator either. Rooms are old and not well kept . Some carpeted rooms actually stink. Hot water supply is limited to certain... More

We stayed in this hotel for one night on the way from Lake Toba to Medan. It has its pros and cons. Let's start with some positive elements : It is quite a sizeable resort with huge green area in the back side. The staff is helpful. Rooms are big and clean. The downside is that hot water is limited... More

We stayed here over night on our way back to Medan from Lake Toba. Grand Mutiara is oldish and used. The room was surprisingly spacious with balcony and beautiful view of the mountains and garden also large bathroom with shower and bath tube. The unpleasant surprise was limitation of hot water! We could take our hot shower only few hours... More

Kudos to very friendly hotel staff. They are polite and assisted us in every possible way. Buffet breakfast was sent to our table and its variety was large, from bread to noodles to congee to fried chicken... wow!!! The dinner there is also excellent.... again, a table full of dishes till the 6 of us could not finish. Rooms were... More
