The entrance to this massive facility has gates with security guards.  The main lobby is huge and cavernous.  The grounds contain several buildings offering hundreds of rooms for accommodation, meeting rooms, restaurants, beauty spa and some very "dodgy" shops.  There are steep hills and large distances between most rooms and the pools.  Some guests were transported around by golf buggies....

I stayed here for two nights on the way to Borneo. Brunei is very interesting and quiet in comparison to most Asian cities. There isnt alot to do here though, I would stay 2/3 nights maximum. The Hotel was amazing! Very grand, lots of gold, spacious, clean and modern. The room was very big, comfy bed, large balcony with sea...

This was our second stay at the Empire Hotel. We had a two bedroom villa which included complimentary breakfast, high tea and mocktails in the club room. The villa was spacious but tired, with very uncomfortable furniture in the living room and extremely hard beds. The a la carte breakfast on the club floor was good although the menu has...

Dear AzlinH, Thank you for your comment and glad you love our room. The Cineplex you had mentioned is the Jerudong Amphitheatre hall which is about 5 minutes drive away from the hotel and yes it still exists and occasionally used for big entertainment events. Thank you for coming back to stay with us and hope to see you again!...

We stayed at the Empire with our two daughters, aged 7 & 9. Pros *Friendly staff *Larger rooms - we had a twin room, which was more than big enough. *Well maintained by Bruneian standards (Having lived in Brunei for a year, I know that maintenance of buildings is not a common practice). *Great having the movie theatre, bowling alley,...

There is no question that this hotel is over-the-top grand - with three story pillars and a lot of gilt. It's almost a charicature. What's surprising is that the service doesn't quite keep up. I had to call multiple times for room service and four separate times to book a simple tour. There were no serious problems, but no one...
