My husband and I have just enjoyed a four night stay at "The Hideaway" - our hosts Stephen and Jackie couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Stephens enthusiasm - albeit a tad OTT at times - is second to none. He went out of his way to ensure we knew the best routes to take and...

We are currently staying at The Hideaway and are having the time of our lives. We have stayed in some 5 star hotels all over the world but NEVER have we been looked after as well! Stephen is a character and quite the `mother hen` in ensuring that everything is right,ok looking at some reviews some have found this annoying...

Stayed one night en route to Port Elizabeth. We were greeted enthusiastically by Stephen and shown our room which was beautifully furnished with all our needs catered for including a free mini bar and a decanter of Port. Stephen was a mine of information on the surrounding area and things to do and places to eat and nothing was too...

My wife and I spent 2 nights at The Hideaway in March. We stayed in 2 different rooms as we stayed for a night either side of a couple of days in Knysna. I can honestly say that this is easily one of the best B&Bs I've ever stayed at. The hosts (Stephen and Jackie) went out of their way...

This was our first trip to S. Africa so we relied heavily on Trip Advisor recommendations for restuarants and accomodations. The Hideaway lives up to its excellent reviews. Jackie and Stephen thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. They plotted out the subsequent days of driving to different areas of S. Africa with the most scenic routes to take,...

The cleanliness and food can't be faulted. However the owners are intrusive, presumptuous, and arrogant, and will ram the questionnaire down your throat as you leave/try to eat breakfast, and stand over you as you fill it in, which perhaps explains the high rating. The rooms are dated but do contain what you would expect. All look out onto a...

We have been deeply shocked by this review but, whatever else the reviewers may think about us, we are not so conceited to believe that we can never get things wrong. We would, therefore, like to apologise for anything that these guests experienced at The Hideaway that did not contribute to their enjoyment of their stay with us and offer...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Hideaway in March. We had stayed in Swellendam on two previous occasions and never quite found the perfect place to stay. Now we have! We were warmly welcomed by Stephen and Jackie who were charming and most helpful during our stay. Our room was large and comfortable with lovely views of...

The Hideaway is a delightful guest house which is also a national monument and one of the oldest houses in Swellendam. It is situated in a quiet road and we had no qualms about parking on the street. Jackie and Stephen are so attentive to detail from their locally sourced breakfast (but not the Kellogg’s type stuff!) to the equipping...

We visited the Hideaway in February for a two night stay, which was one night too many. What we thought was going to be a relaxing base for exploring the area turned into a military, precise agenda where we were given little opportunity to make our own decisions regarding eating out and planned trips. Jackie is charming and I would...

Thank you for your review of The Hideaway. We are upset that you did not completely enjoy your stay. You and your partner booked directly with us and would have seen the rooms on our website where there is a 360 degree tour and photographs of each one, but we are sorry if it was not what you were expecting....

In January we returned to the Hideaway. We had visited for 2 nights last year and wanted very much to come back. Stephen and Jackie gave us a great welcome and we immediately felt at home again. We stayed 4 nights this time and visited different places which we had not had time to see last year. As usual Stephen...
