Luckily we only booked this hotel for one night in March 2019 during our trip of the Garden Route. The place is totally over rated and far from 'holistic" as can be read on the website. I will not repeat the reviews written by fellow travellers who have had the same bad experience except to say that yes the place is understaffed and simply not the type of property one would expect when visiting the website. The spa is a joke - a room in the back garden more like a shed barely 10 square metres in area with two beds for massage. The oil used for massage badly stained the shirts we were wearing and in spite of specialist cleaning back home unfortunately must be thrown away. The therapists double up as kitchen and restaurant staff so as you can imagine they are more of a "Jack of all trade, master of none'. In all fairness the hotel wasn't ready to take guests as decking was being installed in the outdoor area however they were very ready to take our money even though in the end we negotiated a minimal discount to our room rate with the manager for the sake of principle and of making a point that we were very unhappy. What was meant to be a great end to our holiday proved to be very disappointing. This not to mention that the our room was not 100% clean and that one of the bath towels was visibly soiled! We are not planning another trip to South Africa again in the future because sadly the beautiful country is taking a steady hill downhill however the management of this property is a prime example of the state of the country! very sad but very true!

We stayed here having been booked in by ‘Trailfinders’ on our route from west to east. All of the hotels we stayed at were of a very high quality with one in particular being outstanding. This, however was an appalling place. However, I must qualify that by saying that all the staff were friendly & courteous and that none of this review can be blamed on them. The place is under-staffed and they are trying in what seems to be very difficult circumstances. Our room did not justify the price tag. The bed is ok but at the rear of it is an ‘open’ shower on one side and a toilet on the opposite side. This had ‘cowboy saloon’ type swing doors which were made out of melamine boards, the type of thing you would buy from a DIY store to make cheap shelves. They didn’t fit together either. Add to this the highly confusing Alexa electronic system installed, used to open blinds, switch on lights, turn TV on etc. There is not one manual switch you can use to turn things off/on conventionally and the whole thing is so frustrating. Most of the time it doesn’t understand your command as it only responds to EXACT phrases - can’t differentiate between accents or dialects. We tried to alter the air conditioning at 1 in the morning - the lights came on and the roller blinds opened. Useless & hopeless system, as is b’fast drinks machine. Money should have been invested in the building itself - a very expensive place but feel of a back-packer lodge. Awful, avoid. Much better nearby alternatives.

Idyllic surroundings really well furnished rooms and communal areas. Alexa installed for the techy minded (great fun) but can manually operate all room functions if not. If we return to this area will definitely book again 2 terrific nights thank you

We travel to SA every year at this time. We have had wonderful accommodation til now. We booked 2 nights here. When we arrived in the late afternoon the hospitality tray had not been prepared, tea bags missing. The glass at the washbasin was missing. There was no bin in the bedroom. The floor had not been vacuumed. There was only one loo roll. Surely the room should have been checked by themanager. Is this not the manager’s duty.? Not to mention no tissues . There was no toiletries either such as cotton wool buds or cotton wool pads to remove makeup. The room was stark. No long mirror. The bath is behind the bed as are the washbasins a low wall behind the bed to separate the bathroom area. The loo at least had a narrow door for some privacy. This place was renovated 4 months ago by new management and it seems no one really cares. We went out early the following day returning at 4 pm. Our room had not been serviced. We were hot tired wanting to change and swim. I had to go through to management to request our room be serviced. The reply was that guests don’t like staff in their rooms. This is the first place we’ve ever stayed in when touring South African that we’ve had such a lame excuse. It seems they can’t get the staff more like it. A member of staff who is clearly not the cleaner offer to come and service the room as the cleaner had gone home. This poor young lady had been tirelessly dealing with problem after problem since we arrived. As for the hi tech running the electrical side in the bedroom called Alexa. Enough has been said by other trip advisor reviewers on this place. All we can say is “same here”. Lights weren’t working properly, Alexa kept making us cups of coffee instead. The patient young lady corrected it all while we were out. The furniture has all been sanded to bare wood making the room look hard and minimalist. Even the dining room. There is no character or charm to the place which is in such a pretty setting. The roof on the whole building is covered in solar panels. Eco friendly by ghastly to look at. The breakfast was almost do it all yourself apart from the cooked breakfast which was nicely prepared. But We won’t be back.

Set in a beautiful location! Picturesque and peaceful. Super friendly staff. Lovely modern, clean and newly refurbished room, all with luxurious white linen and towels. Thoroughly enjoyed telling 'Alexa' to close the blinds, switch off the lights and play easy listening music. Breakfast was scrumptious! Enjoyed making use of the pool and jacuzzi and having easy access to country walks. Great value for money as offers much more than other guest houses do.
