Very disappointing, The venue is magnificent but the cottages just do not deliver for the price you have to pay. The cottages are dirty and badly in need of maintenance, we had leaking taps, leaking tap handles, it rained and the roof leaked. When you let the water out of the kitchen sink all that greasy water comes up the outlet in the shower. The hot water to the shower does not work, and there is no cold water in the kitchen sink. The was a cockroach frozen into one of the ice cubes in the freezer. And the worst thing of all was that we woke up after the first night covered in bites, my wife who is a doctor recognized them as bed bugs, and if you strip the bed you can see evidence of them. It is such a pity as the place has such potential but we definitely won't return despite the amazing location…
Location is so secluded and breathtaking! Definitely a great place to relax. Overall a pleasant weekend! Mosquitoes was quite annoying, but now I know for next time... will recommend to others and gladly return!
Stayed in Witkruis cottage, sufficient amenities and you are completely on your own, away from everything, with a great view right in front of you every day. Even when it was very hot in Robertson, we always had cool wind from the south coming in during the day, and some cloudiness gathering against the Langeberg to the north, so very mild although it was in December.
The two of us had a great stay here. Within cycling distance of a good brewery and wineries. The views were stunning. We couldn't find any of the recommended hikes and never came into contact with the owners to ask them, but managed to find enough other things to do in the area, that it wasn't a problem. The cottage was very cute and rustic and came with a complimentary gas heater which saved us on a winter weekend away.
What a lovely break away in the mountain. Old world charm set amongst picturesque mountains. I would however suggest that they offer more battery/rechargeable lamps as the power goes out at 20:00 leaving the house in darkness.
