We had a fantastic time, the staff was courteous and friendly. Always looking to make our stay memorable. Absolutely fantastic views and the amenities are top notch. We will definately be coming back.
Val d’Or Estate is in a stunning setting surrounded by the peaceful nature in Franschhoek with absolutely everything you need from the most friendly and thoughtful staff to tasteful decor, which is incredibly comfortable! With a very tasty breakfast. The stay was most enjoyable! Thank you!
we were in Franschhoek for a family 50th and Val 'd Or was a convenient location close by all the activities. there was a beautiful pool on the premises as well, but we didn't have time to use it, nor was the weather good enough
My family and I (x2 children, x2 adults) stayed at the Val d'Or Estate (family room) end of March 2022 originally intended on spending x3 nights. Good points: 1) fantastic service by the staff - warm, friendly and welcoming 2) great breakfast - accommodating for children, wide selection of food available, warm and friendly team. Negative points: 1) Our rooms had been fumigated very heavily with insect spray [DEET] (to avoid mosquitos). These fumes were overpowering and were impregnated in all areas/surfaces/linen/cupboards and caused us to wake up with headaches in the morning after spending the night. 2) Our rooms weren't entirely clean - marks on carpet and spider webs in bathroom to name a few 3) no curtain/shutters in main en-suite bathroom meant we had to shower in full view of the main hotel 4) shower flooded after 20-30 seconds of shower - drain needs cleaning 5) public pool was not clear and looked like it hadn't been cleaned - we did swim in this pool and no-one was sick however would not recommend this. In the end, because of the overpowering smell of DEET (insect repellent) we left after x1 night having originally intended to spend x3 nights. We informed the staff about these problems on leaving. …
Everything was neat clean neat and perfect. A perfect quiet tranquil setting with views of the majestic mountains. The room was spacious and well presented. The breakfast was all in order. Would definitely stay their again
off the road big areal, nice swimming pool, friendly staff. Beautiful views in all directions When we were there only a few guests were there, it was a pity, as this is a nice place worth being used .
Such a lovely quaint hotel - staff couldn’t have been more helpful Pool was lovely rooms were lovely but a bit dated Buffet breakfast - fresh omelet was the best I’ve had We needed a late checkout and the staff helped us move to a different room
Had a wonderful stay here with perfect location to visit Francschoek , surrounded by mountains. Rooms were spacious and clean and pool was fantastic. Johnny was a brilliant host made us feel very welcome always smiling and was knowledgeable and a funny man!
I travel widely in South Africa and have always been v happy with levels of service. For the first time in 5 years, I arrived at queen manor to find booked room given to someone else and was offered inferior option for same price. Minimal apologies, half an hour of discussions with various managers, derisory compensation offered then a voucher promised which never materialized. Given the wide range of alternatives, i would definitely avoid in future.
We stayed in the " Owner Cottage" with our family of 5 in three rooms . Very large accommodation, perfectly decorated and equipped. Beds are great but for our tall Dutch boys a little bit short. Breakfast is great and being served. The only negative point are the number of beds at the pool. Only 4, which is not sufficient for our 3 rooms . Completely not sufficient when the guests of the neighbouring 2 apartments are also trying to use the 4 beds at the small private pool.
