Situated behind the historical Huguenot Monument and Museum, and within 5 minute walking distance from the town center. Laying beneath the impressive Middagkrans Mountains, and a short drive up the Franschhoek pass to one of the most surreal views of the town and valley, is La Providence Farm/Guesthouse! Set amongst a picturesque garden of roses and other indigenous plant, a hectare of vineyards and a Cypress avenue, as you enter the farm. The farm consists of 7 guestrooms, with a very modern and sophisticated interior. The old farm house buildings gives you a sense of time gone by. Each room has its own Nescafe coffee machine, a mini fridge where one can sit on your terrace and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon as the sunsets!! There is an entertainment area for our guests, a short walk from the rooms where one can enjoy a swim in our 12m pool, or laze about on a sunbed and admire the view of the mountains or vineyard. There is a bar with a wooden deck leading out to the pool, or in the evening sit in boma around a fire and enjoy the Milk way with a glass of 'Lewenslust' our local house wine.

What a fantastic place and I can say that without hesitation. Location is beautiful set with the mountains as the backdrop and nestled in lovely landscaped gardens and small vineyard. Location 10-min walk to the centre of Franschhoek. The rooms (we stayed in one of the new villas) are well presented, very nicely decorated and a really good size with a nice private patio seating area. Bathrooms are spacious with an outdoor shower for those that want it. Breakfast is amazing considering they don't have that many guests, all very fresh, plenty to choose and hot food cooked to order. All served by the pool. The pool is smallish, but they all are but fine for a dip or a few lengths, but plenty of sun loungers and the view of the mountains is to die for. In the afternoon they have homemade cakes and you can help yourself to coffee and water. They also have an honesty bar for those sundowners. They truly provide an excellent service and a lovely place to stay. Will return...loved it!

We stayed here for four nights earlier this month and didn’t want to leave.

We stayed in the executive room and loved it. It was large, airy and spacious. There is a small fridge for drinks, a large balcony and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Water pressure in the shower was good.

The grounds are stunning, beautiful vines, plants, flowers along with a cute lake and fountain complete with ducks. The pool is beautiful, sun loungers comfy and plenty of umbrellas and shade.

There is a bar with an honesty system where you can help yourself to a variety of drinks (no charge) as long as you Mark this down. They also had nibbles eg crisps, baked goods, fresh fruit each afternoon.

Breakfast was a delight - a real mix of pastries, fruit, cold meats etc, coffees made to order, eggs and bacon etc made to order and many ingredients straight out the garden. Ellen made sure my gluten and lactose free diet was catered for buying me special yoghurt and bread which was really kind.

It was Valentine’s Day and my husbands birthday during our stay and both days they prepared special treats to help us celebrate.

The location was really convenient - it’s a five minute drive (if that) into Franschhoek or a 15 minute walk. They also provide a local taxi details.

Ellen, Gary and the team work really hard to make sure people have a great stay and this is welcomed.

For all you get this guest house is an absolute bargain. We loved every minute would highly recommend and hope to be back in the future.

I had such high hopes for La Providence after finding it online - and am pleased to report it really didn't disappoint! The backdrop is just INSANE and we were there over a beautiful summer weekend, with all the flowers in bloom. The quality just shines through in everything they do, from the rooms and furnishings, to breakfast and little touches. The vibe is very unpretentious - relaxed and welcoming. We stayed in the top room type (was Vineyard View, now Mountain View I think) which was well worth it for the outside space. Loved the outdoor shower and the bed was so comfy. Breakfast was excellent but my favourite part was just chilling by the pool with that mountain view - it has to be one of the best in Franschhoek! We'll be back!

We spent two nights at La Providence, but wished it could have been many more. Ellen and Gary were wonderful, genial hosts, and clearly take great pride in the quality of stay their guests have. The room (Executive 5) was large and modern, with a range of stylish additions. There was a good sized terraced also.

The estate overall though was the breathtaking part. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with a dizzying array of flowers, plants, herbs and vegetables. The large pond and fountain, complete with ducks, sit beneath the vast mountain range.

The pool area is fantastic, again set perfectly to take in the wonderful backdrop.

Breakfast also is a real highlight, and definitely ranks among the best I've had. Each morning you'll find a host of homemade delicacies, from South African specialities to tartiflette and homemade cakes and bread. Additionally there are various 'to order' options as you would expect to find, sat alongside a wide variety of of fruits, cheeses and vegetables.

We would return in a heartbeat.

I am reluctant to write this review as I want to keep this place a secret! It was 5 star through and through. My husband and I had the most amazing stay at La Providence - EVERYTHING was perfect (other than the rainy weather!) Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly, welcoming staff. Our room was furnished with quality furnishes and beautiful fresh flowers which made a lovely touch. Our room overlooked a small pond with water feature and cute ducks - so romantic! There was also the most amazing entertainment area overlooking the pool that we could relax with a glass of wine in the evenings. I have to say one of the biggest highlights was the BEST breakfast (yes you heard right) the best breakfast I have ever had in all my travels! Ellen’s olive tapenade gets a special mention! I cannot praise this place enough thank you Ellen and your amazing team for an absolutely magicical stay we VOW to come back to swim in that gorgeous pool!!

La Providence Farm is an absolutely stunning boutique lodge that is further complimented by its amazing Staff. We two nights here around a wine tram expedition and had the best time. The manager Ellen went the extra mile to make sure we had every thing we needed and upgraded our room to one with a private pool, which was a real treat although not entirely needed because the common pool area is out of this world with probably the best views in Franshhoek. The attention to detail is everywhere so you will always have everything you need. Also, the breakfasts are truly next level: think Charcuterie on steroids finished with the most amazing eggs and your choice of sides.

The location is also key because you are within waking distance to town and the restaurants. The reason this is important is because Uber begins to shut down around 6 pm when all the drivers return to cape town so it can be a challenge to get around later in the evening. We walked to the hotel both nights at around 9pm and it took less than 10 mins and felt safe the whole way.

10/10 Would highly recommend.

Everything about our two night stay at La Providence Farm was wonderful and we had a very memorable time.

We arrived just after lunch and our room was already available to check into. The rooms are fantastic, very spacious with a luxurious decor and some lovely touches. Breakfast is delicious with plenty of options and attentive service.

The property is very quiet and relaxing with beautiful gardens and scenic views. We loved lounging by the pool with the surrounding hills in sight. During the day it's a safe and comfortable 10 minute walk to the main street of restaurants and shops. We used Uber later in the evening or to go to some of the other vineyards and never had to wait longer than 5-10 mins for a car.

We wish we could have stayed longer and would certainly recommend this to anyone visiting beautiful Franschhoek.

Stayed here for three nights, the attention to detail, quality of the fixtures & fittings, stunning natural beauty, excellent breakfast made it one of the best stays we have had anywhere in the world, could not recommend highly enough. 15 minute walk to a lovely town with numerous excellent restaurants. UBER works really well as well.

This was our second stay at La Providence and we were not disappointed. Our hosts Ellen & Gary are totally committed to ensuring that you have a very special stay and are friendly and engaging. The rooms and pool area are spotlessly clean and spacious allowing you to totally relax. Breakfasts are amazing and served at the pool area. Nothing is too much trouble ( I was offered spinach, and saw Ellen freshly pick it from their adjacent veggie patch). Cannot get any fresher than that. The grounds and setting are both very peaceful, being located a short walk from the village. We walked to the village and back every day. Also a thank you to Melvin who was also very engaging. So another fantastic experience which we will repeat. Thank you again and see you soon.
