I can't say enough how my boyfriend and I are in love with this place. We stayed for two nights and had and Increadible time. It was our second visit, so the staff met us with even bigger smiles and welcomes than the previous time. There is literally nothing I could find to complain. The villa (Gallery) is private, beautifully...

We had the pleasure of spending our last two nights in South Africa at this amazing place, situated in the middle of wine country. Our host, Peggy, and our butlers for our stay, Frank and John, met us upon arrival, then brought us to our private luxury villa. An exquisite 3 bedroom 3 private bath villa, with seating areas, dining...

Exceptional service, beautiful interiors in the most outstanding setting. La Cle is a special place where guests are welcomed and made to feel truly at home in their own private villa. A private Butler and Housekeeper are available 24/7 to cater to every and any request guests might have. We highly recommend La Cle Des Montagne.

Having been fortunate to stay in some of the very best hotels worldwide, I have experienced some beautiful decor and incredible service. La Cle Des Montagnes has taken this to another level. I was told that each of the villas were different in design. The one that we stayed in had the most incredible art on the walls, an eclectic...

This is by far the most luxurious villa/hotel I have been to in all my travels. Classy decorations, modern facilities and that all being part of a heritage building in the heart of Francshhoek. Larry and his Penny are absolutely fabulous. Each visitor should insist on Pearl's apple pie. This is by far my highest recommendation in the entire Western...

Everything was great as soon as you entered the gates. A big surprise was the butler service. Since we have been travelling a lot we just wanted to take it easy and the butler prepared us a lovely barbeque. The Villa we stayed in was top quality and very clean. It is only a 5 minute walk to the center...

We are very fussy, usually complaining about some aspect of even very expensive and well known places, but this place exceeded all expectations. Went last year for a few days, this year went back for ten. Fabulous in every respect. Walk to the attractions of the village, stay in if you like, watch movies (provided, of course) , get the...

We returned this week from our second year of a 2-week stay at La Cle, our very first stay in 2012 we did the normal 2-3 day stopover and, well, it obviously made a very lasting impression. This is the ideal place for a family of 4 with young children, it isn't obvious when you look at the pictures but...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Four individually designed villas accommodating between two and eight guests per villa at the historic Le Grange homestead, within walking distance from the Franschhoek village centre. Each villa not only provides complete privacy and security, it lends itself to entertaining, with spacious living rooms with fireplaces and a library, indoor and outdoor areas, a private swimming pool and garden, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Villas come complete with all home comforts to suit extended stays, and are able to accommodate families with children of all ages. Sophisticated style and breathtaking beauty is the essence of La Clé des Montagnes.La Clé des Montagnes offers an idyllic setting a short stroll from the historic village of Franschhoek. A selection of four unique villas await you on a working wine estate, surrounded by picturesque vineyards, plum orchards with a magnificent mountain backdrop. We invite you to enjoy an unparalleled luxurious experience in the heart of the beautiful Franschhoek valley.La Grange – Sleeps 6 GuestsThis sophisticated villa’s ambience was inspired by the elegant textures, solid woods and distinct fabrics of a colonial highlands lodge. The warm palettes that make up the interior have been carefully selected to reflect the seasonal hues of the surrounding orchards and vineyards. In turn La Grange’s interiors are infused with stylistic elements reminiscent of a Victorian farmhouse – while large, plush furnishings such as deep-buttoned, rollback beds will ensure that guests will receive nothing less than a luxurious stay.Le Manoir – Sleeps 4 GuestsInspired by the French heritage of Franschhoek, the reds, blacks, greys and whites of the interior of Le Manoir engender the spirit of French linens, toiles and patterned stripes. Beautiful antiques, unexpected traditional furniture pieces and carefree colours are at the heart of Le Manoir’s charming character. Homely, yet with a modern edge, Le Manoir offers the perfect salutation to French style in a breathtaking African landscape.La Galerie – Sleeps 4 GuestsSaturated blocks of colour juxtaposed with a minimalistic interior create a powerful energy in this expressive and avant-garde villa. The deep, rich grey walls of La Galerie have been selected to make up the canvas of a beautiful contemporary art collection featuring pieces by the acclaimed Swedish artist Bengt Karl Erik Lindström. Gallery lighting highlights expressive abstracts that forge a dramatic and engaging space, while the furnishings of La Galerie comprise a marriage of sought-after antiques, as well as carefully selected, exclusive contemporary pieces. La Galerie is a fitting tribute to the rich artistic heritage of Franschhoek and the country from which its founders originated.Le Colonial – Sleeps 8 GuestsThe rich patterns and fabrics of Le Colonial pay homage to a fusion of east and north African aesthetics. Patterned fabrics, Moroccan tiles and African art lend the space a tasteful vibrancy and dynamism. Le Colonial’s panoramic views of the vineyards and mountains combine with the contemporary African feel to create a truly memorable experience. ... more   less
