Very nice base for exploring Franshoek and surounds. Rooms could have been a bit more private as people were walking by. Staff was really good and took well care or us. Breakfast was an experience in itself!

It^s worth to stay in Fransvliet Guest House for several days. Everthing perfect, from the well equipped rooms, the excellent and daily various breakfasts, the lovely garden to rest and Shirley and her friendly staff.

It is hard to top the natural beauty, fun and excitement that the wine region offers, but Shirley and her team and this wonderful, relaxing home away from home certainly managed to accomplish just that. Thank you Shirley, Victor and the rest of the team for making our vacation even more memorable. The next time we are back in Franschhoek,... More

We arrived late on Sunday afternoon after driving out to Cape Point, and then around False Bay. We were thirsty and hungry. Victor organised a cheese platter and a bottle of cold white wine. Later after taking us to our room we asked if it was possible to have laundry done... no problem. He recommended a lovely restaurant that night... More

We stayed at Fransvliet for two nights from 18th to 20th July 2015 while traveling the Garden Route. The rooms include a fireplace, which is a nice touch! We had the fire going both nights we stayed, which came in very handy given how cold it was, and also added to the charm of the place. During our stay, the... More

Thank you for taking the time out to review your stay at Fransvliet. I am puzzled by the hot water as each suite has 220 lit geyser. I am sorry you did not question this at the time as it should always be sufficient. We are an environmentally conscious establishment but our system runs at 60C, which is usually more... More

We loved our short 2 night stay at Fransvliet. Fransvliet is located just a 5-10 minute drive outside of Franschhoek in the middle of the vineyards. Rooms are very spacious, clean and (for the colder seasons) have a real fireplace. The bathroom is super spacious with his and hers sinks. Nice bathrobes provided. Only negative point is that all days... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Fransvliet. We are delighted that you had a good stay, and apologise in terms of the breakfast. A mis-communication, Victor advised me that you requested a little earlier breakfast, and prepared it the first day. When you arrived a bit later, he assumed that would be your daily time. For guests who... More

Just back from a wonderful weekend with a big group of friends to Franschhoek. We booked out Fransvliet on the recommendation of the vineyard across the road (Leopard's Leap) where we booked big family braai day. Fransvliet was the most perfect location we could have stayed at and the hospitality and attention to detail was amazing. We were pretty much... More

This is a lovely spot! Victor managed to secure us a dinner booking at very short notice at a fine dining spot in Franschoek. The rooms were more than comfortable and very spacious. Breakfasts were great with great fresh juices and lots of fresh ingredients. I would recommend this to anybody staying in Franschoek.

Amazing two night stay here. The hotels is set in beautiful grounds with great scenery. The room was incredible and much better than expected. We had a lovely welcome from the owners who also create the best breakfasts I've eaten. Well worth staying here.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fransvliet Guest House is a tranquil, luxury retreat, only 4 kilometres from the heart of Franschhoek. It is situated on a working farm, growing grapes, olives and figs. Wake up to the call of the birds and in the evening perhaps hear the resident owls calling as they contemplate the night's hunt. Breathtaking mountain views are all around, each one more spectacular than the last. The individually decorated suites are pure luxury, with absolute attention to detail. Soft wineland colours set the tone for a perfect stay. Breakfast is an occasion, every day. Spend time in the newly renovated 65 year old house, either inside or on the veranda, enjoying the view of the pool and the vineyards. Celebrate "the best meal of the day" with either a Continental or a full breakfast that will include seasonal specials. The sparkling pool is at your disposal for those hot lazy afternoons. Relax in the shade with a magazine and an ice cold drink, before you cool off. Lazy winter days are a treat too. Snuggle up in your suite in a comfy armchair with your own personal fireplace - the perfect way to enjoy one of the local bottles of red wine. Meander through the garden, (both indigenous and other) on your way to your suite. Something special will be flowering at all times. In season, luscious figs will be found on the trees, and the scent of lemons may be in the air too. Take an early morning walk around the farm in December. The vines will be green and laden with fruit. In July, a few burgundy coloured leaves and bare sticks have their own attraction. Soak up the 360° view, especially the powerful Simonsberg mountains. ... more   less
