Who knew we would be staying at South Africa's very own 'bake off' queens guest house. My wife asked Shirley if she was a foodie and she just politely smiled. The property and grounds were beautiful, each guest room had its own sitting area just outside and the pool was just a minute away. Breakfast each morning was delicious, Shirley... More

Location and accommodation was very good. Breakfast was good as well. The manager and staff went out of the way to please us. The fireplace in the room was an added bonus, especially on the cold night that we were there.

After reading the reviews on TA we decided to stay here as we wanted something a bit out of town but with a fireplace for winter. We were welcomed by Victor and had a lovely stay in a very spacious, comfortable room. There was a massive bathroom with a twin bath and shower and twin vanities. The fire place was... More

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay. We are also delighted that in the main you enjoyed Fransvliet and all it offered. To respond to your "niggle". I have filled the bath twice over a couple of days. on both occasions I got 16cm deep of water @ 60C. The water then continued to run at... More

This little B&B really paid attention to offering a sense of quality in a simple setting. All the amenities you'd need along with a fireplace to warm those winter evenings. We were especially pleased with the breakfast.

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate the praise. Our fireplaces "sell" our rooms all through the winter. We hope you will return in the summer. More

Spacious room with fireplace and full size deep bath. The minibar prices for drinks and snacks is very reasonable. They are not out to make money by ripping off guests who feel like a drink or snack. The bed was very comfortable and had electric blanket which we did not use because the room was warmed by the fireplace. The... More

This guesthouse is well positioned just outside Franschhoek. The rooms are well equipped and spacious and beautifully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast is a treat. Easy to relax here and enjoy being away from the city.

The rooms are big and modern, including all necessities (mini-bar, coffee/tea etc.), a wonderful bed to rest in after a long day, great jacuzzi-size bath and modern shower. The room offers a comfortable little living room area with two leather sofas and LCD tv. In the corner a cozy little fireplace to complete a romantic evening. The view from the... More

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. As to the bath, each suite has its own 250litre geyser, set at 50C. this should be more than adequate for 2 people. As we are in the middle of a serious drought we cannot provide unlimited water. We trust you will understand this. We hope to welcome you back... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fransvliet Guest House is a tranquil, luxury retreat, only 4 kilometres from the heart of Franschhoek. It is situated on a working farm, growing grapes, olives and figs. Wake up to the call of the birds and in the evening perhaps hear the resident owls calling as they contemplate the night's hunt. Breathtaking mountain views are all around, each one more spectacular than the last. The individually decorated suites are pure luxury, with absolute attention to detail. Soft wineland colours set the tone for a perfect stay. Breakfast is an occasion, every day. Spend time in the newly renovated 65 year old house, either inside or on the veranda, enjoying the view of the pool and the vineyards. Celebrate "the best meal of the day" with either a Continental or a full breakfast that will include seasonal specials. The sparkling pool is at your disposal for those hot lazy afternoons. Relax in the shade with a magazine and an ice cold drink, before you cool off. Lazy winter days are a treat too. Snuggle up in your suite in a comfy armchair with your own personal fireplace - the perfect way to enjoy one of the local bottles of red wine. Meander through the garden, (both indigenous and other) on your way to your suite. Something special will be flowering at all times. In season, luscious figs will be found on the trees, and the scent of lemons may be in the air too. Take an early morning walk around the farm in December. The vines will be green and laden with fruit. In July, a few burgundy coloured leaves and bare sticks have their own attraction. Soak up the 360° view, especially the powerful Simonsberg mountains. ... more   less
