Detailed Reviews
We where welcomed by the friendly Rieta and the beautiful dogs. Our trip was just too short but we where very impressed with the cottage,
Wished we stayed longer.
A small milk is provided but I would suggest seeing it is a self catering that you bring your own milk for the morning coffee ( they do provide coffee tea and sugar and a very small milk) but it is not enough for a family to share. They provide ice and beautiful bottle of wine for the room as well as fire wood for the fireplace.
We really had a lovely stay and will be back.

We had a wonderful Stay at La Galiniere Guest cottages. Reita was so accommodating and helpful with allowing us to take a shower before our wine tram trip (even though we were hours early to check -in).
The location is great - close to all the vineyards and Franschoek town centre.
A really perfect stay, spacious and clean and a beautiful setting.
Would happily return!

We stayed here as a group of friends visiting the wine farms. The two cottages were lovely and clean, and the outside entertainment area with pool is stunning, with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains.
Marietha and co were very accommodating and the BnB is well-located on the main road and easily accessible. The cottages had everything we needed for the weekend, making it feel like a home away from home!
Good value for money in Franschhoek, I would definitely recommend to others :)

I loved staying there, from the view to the farmhouse feel on the inside of the cottage, we really have nothing to complain about, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you can possibly need! as well as a complimentary bottle of red wine. The only problem was the one dog snapped at me and i got a big fright, i am not scared of dogs as I have several of my own. I can just imagine if you dont like or are scared of dogs or have very little kiddies this will not be ideal. I will definately be back

Response from lagaliniere, Owner at La Galiniere Guest Cottages
Responded Jan 10, 2020
Many thanks for your review Louise. Our four dogs roam the farm freely to provide us and our guests with additional security. We try to make this clear on all websites through which our cottages can be booked. I appreciate that some guests may be wary of our dogs, but we put a high priority on guest security.

The cottage is in a very safe location, it is spacious with a large well equipped kitchen. Great location and walking distance to Wine tram and the Town. Its on a small vineyard with a pool right outside. Very pretty location. We were left a lovely bottle of wine which was produced from the grapes on the vineyard, lovely touch. Definitely a home from home, wish we could have stayed longer.

Nicely equipped cottage. An electric blanket and/or winter sheets would have been nice, given how cold it was. There was a problem with the water - it didn't heat up, but Rietta was very responsive and managed to sort it out the next day.

Perfect location, cottages however need carpets lifted or cleaned and bathrooms cleaned. Grime on shower floor visible. We were 2 families, so having the 2 cottages close together was perfect. Rietha was friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed a relaxing stay here. It was raining a lot the one day, so it was nice to have the luxury of a fireplace. The accommodation is ideally located close to the town and caters for all one's basic needs. The pool must be nice in summer!

Although we arrived later than expected, Alan met us and gave us a tour of the cottage until Rietha (Cottage Manager) arrived and took over welcoming us to the cottage.
A complimentary bottle of wine and a sample of (french press) coffee made the stay even better. Friendly (if a little elderly) dogs and a quaint (double decker bus) wine tram running behind the cottage made for a well rounded 2 night stay. We did not use the pool, however it looked VERY inviting.
5 minutes from Franschoek and the nearest service station, supermarkets, etc.

Great cottage with space around you - unlike most of Franschhoek! We love it here, close to everything and then able to relax in a quiet location in the evenings. Lovely welcome, very friendly - we will return and highly recommend!

Port Elizabeth, South Africa9 contributions1 helpful voteWe are thinking of booking in a self catering cottage in Franschoek over Dec. 24 to 28th. 4 adults. What would the cost be? Would like the room with the best view and near the pool. Thanks
"Perhaps blinds or black out curtains in the second bedroom in Merlot Cottage? Room was very bright early in the morning."Read full review
