After a few days in the central Berg we moved north to Thendele. We had No 1 on the older section and it has amazing views of the Amphitheater. Best braai view in the world. Well appointed rondaval but a bit amused by the satellite TV! The TV a has changed the layout of the room. It would be better...

Visited three days ago to do the Tugela Gorge hike and I have to say: the location is amazing and the views are breath-taking! The camp is located right at the start of the hike. Unfortunately that's where 'the buck stops'. The roads approaching Thendele are in awful condition and if you are not careful you could seriously damage your...

We have been staying regularly in Thendele since we first visited this outstanding Nat. Park in 1973...first in the older, now refurbished chalets in Lower Camp which are still appealing, then since the 1980s in Upper Camp. Very sadly as far as we are concerned, there has been a steady deterioration in the chalets and the maintenance of facilities, including...

We stayed at Thendele lower camp for 2 nights. The tarred road from the park gate to the camp is riddled with potholes in some areas. The huts are fully equipped with everything you may need. The fridge is very small though. But the main drawcard is the view and mountain scenery. Although under cloud cover for most of the...

These lodges are located in a lovely part of the Drakensberg National Park. They are well appointed and the accommodation is spacious. They are not too far apart if you are visiting with a larger group which needs to stay in more than one. There are some lovely walks nearby, which are very accessible from the lodge area. Beware the...

Thendele is a comfortable camp with beautiful views. The chalets have everything you need so just food and clothes required. The baboons can be a menace but keep everything closed. The walks are beautiful. We will go back....

First off, staying here is all about the natural surroundings, which anywhere in the world would struggle to beat. The lodgings are perfectly acceptable self-catering facilities. The decor is perhaps a little run down, and a few more amenities in the kitchen would have been nice (salt, pepper, more pots and pans), but you really will spend most of your...

We stayed 3 nights in the camp. First of all, the staff have an issue with their own booklet. It states when you want your towels changed put them on the bathroom floor. Which we did, but they put them back up. We noticed this because I cut myself shaving and saw the blood again. And the floors are dirty...

Stayed in cottage 5 for two nights while walking in Drakensberg. Stayed in two bedroom cottage with bathroom, lounge and kitchen. Notices warned that all food should be kept away from baboons and doors kept locked - when we got up in the morning a baboon was walking past our front door only a few feet away

It was so impressive. We arrived in the dark and had a wounderful surprise when we looked out of the window the next morning. We had a spacious holiday cottage without fancy stuff, but with a unique view! And the cottages are arranged in a way that everyone has a free, direct view on the mountains.
