Wow this was by far my best hotel stay. Great room with a fantastic view. Wood fired heating and comfortable bed in a world heritage area. A must stay, for some of south Africa’s best cave paintings. Beware of the drive in as at the time of this review the road was terrible, but don’t let that put you off,... More

The views of the Drakensberg are amazing. The camp is clean and has a good restaurant, with friendly, helpful staff. Special thanks to Joshua who pitched up pretty fast when, after stupidly leaving my chalet door slightly open, I had a 'baboon incident'! Also to Thandeka, the guide at the Main Caves who showed and explained the San rock art... More

A bit of a drive through shanty town but absolutely well worth the breathtaking views and tranquility. The chalets are equipped with everything you need and the service level of the housekeeping, restaurant and guides are great. The experience as a whole was enchanting and we will definitely return for more hiking through the mountains. A true gem that gifts... More

An out of the way place with much to see and enjoy - we wanted to watch the bearded vultures in their native habitat, and saw Eland too. Baboons - well you cannot avoid them. This camp is well worth a visit. Do not expect 5* hotels but the accommodation is very good and the dinning excellent. We visited the... More

We had an excellent stay at Giants Castle. It is absolutely gorgeous and right in the center of the nature reserve. The chalet was comfortable. The camp provided fire wood, coal and fire lighters so that we could enjoy a glass of red wine by the the indoor fire. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our walk. Can't wait to... More

Set deep in the rolling hills amongst Giants Castle, the thatched camp is positioned quaintly amongst the enormous boulders. One has a choice of either Mountain View or Garden-view chalets all of which are neat and tidy. There is a wide range of walks to choose from to suit any fitness level. From a short 3 km educational stroll to... More

Very comfortable chalets set in secluded gardens with views of the mountain as well as the surrounding bush. Lovely to watch the birds and butterflies in the trees from our verandah. We took the necessary precautions for the baboons and had absolutely no problem. Enjoyed the walks. The restaurant was adequate and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. The... More

The Camp is in the most spectacularly beautiful scenery. The river sounds wonderful. The reception was very helpful and friendly, (we were a day late arriving after an incident on the road), the cottage was really amazing, with the most wonderful view from the verandah. The bed was large and comfortable. The restaurant served very good food which was freshly... More

Giants Castle in the spectacular uKhahlamba national park, aka Drakensberg is an easy 21/2 hour drive from Durban, although you need to add time for the potholed section from Mooi River to the park. Accommodation is offered in either mountain view or garden view cottages. Forget the garden view unless you don't mind everyone walking past your lounge window and... More

Simple bush lodges, a bit dark inside but good location. View from the restaurant is great. Food is ok. Very nice walks, with our without guide. Reception very strict on check-inn hours: "we are not allowed to do the check -inn, you have to wait until 2pm " - it was 1.30pm and the room was ready! Also the reception... More
