We spent 2 nights at Matyholweni chalets and found them to be basic but comfortable. The Matyholweni site is situated at the bottom of the park, so it is quite far from the main entrance (although you can enter from the Matyholweni gate - it's advisable!) - the chalets are clean, basic and functional - all necessary utensils are there.... We were exactly where we wanted to be. Smack-bang in the middle of the bush. It was peaceful, it was wonderful. Everything was perfect except for the bed and the sleeper couch. The bed's mattress was so old, the dent was there before you sat on it and when you stood up, it was like looking into the Kimberley hole... More

We stayed at Matyholweni in April for a night on our way to the main camp the next day. We would rather have stayed here 2 nights. The south of the park doesn't have as much game but the bush is not as over grazed as up north, and there is a nice variety of game. The accomodation really is... More

Situated in the south of the south of the Addo Elephant park, this camp is easier to reach when travelling from the N2 through Port Elizabeth. The units are a little more luxurious than I expected and come with a fully equipped kitchen, DSTV and a nice balcony overlooking a valley. There are only a small number of units and... More

Our self catering chalet was really well appointed and had everything we could want. It was extremely comfortable and private and therefore was very relaxing. I would go back to Addo just to stay in the camp. My only complaint was that the cleaning staff didn't have any uniforms, and wore their own clothes to clean. It was strangely great... More

Addo National Park is a delightful place to visit. One of the HUGE shortcomings is the fact that except for the two restcamps, there is exactly one toilet out there in the northern half of the tourist area, while in the southern half you have to be a camel to be comfortable. Come on SANParks, you can do better than... More

This sanparks camp has nice clean free standing cabins with kitchen facilities set in thick scrub just inside the park boundary. Access from main coastal highway is quick and easy and much better than if trying to reach the main camp late in the day. From this camp you can then drive inland, through the park as one of your... The facilities at this camp are superb. We stayed in a family cottage with sufficient crockery and cutlery, a two plate electric stove, a microwave and even satellite television. The unit is also equipped with air-conditioning. The Rest Camp is located in what is popularly called the southern end of the park. It is a relatively new less commercialized, area of... More

We visited last year and found this to be the best accommodation we stayed in at the park. It's a lovely quiet spot and the cottages are very well appointed - we enjoyed a fab barbeque on the balcony though did have to find off the cheeky monkeys! The game viewing was excellent in the southern area of the park... More

Luxury living in the bush in well-equipped secluded bungalow. It's great being able to dawdle through the Addo park and then overnight in your own air conditioned self-catering bungalow in thick bush, with only the birds for company (and monkeys, so keep your doors and windows closed when out of the room). Staff at the gate are friendly and professional.... More
