We stayed at the end of June for a long weekend. The pool was nice and clean with staff there to check you in and out. They had to limit the amount of people in and out due to covid regulations. Which was good! Also you have to bring your own chair to the pool area - also a plus. Masks must be worn inside the general store which was stocked. Most all the staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The play ground areas are closed off right now, but the gaga pit and basketball area is open.
We did get beach badges to LBI with a $35 cash deposit for each badge that you get back when you return them same day. Highly recommend going to the beach for the day. It's a quick drive.
Friends stayed with us at the camp ground during the same weekend and we choose the buddy site. This was great and we had lots of shared space.
The bathrooms were maintained.
The reason for only 3 stars was due to the green head flies. They were a big issue for both families. Although we had bug spray - they still were awful. Bring a large outdoor fan.

We were scheduled to visit family at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference during the second week of August. We booked 4 nights at Sea Pirate for our stay. We have a popup camper that we were pulling up to Sea Pirates from Florida. Unfortunately we had a tire blow out on I-95 in South Carolina which caused some electrical problems as well. As a result we decided not to pull the popup any further north so, we left it at a camp ground in South Carolina and told the owner that we would be back for the popup after our visit in New Jersey. We contacted Sea Pirates and Christine told us that they had a cabin for us so we continued onto NJ. Just bring plenty of insect repellent as the mosquito's are pretty thick.

This is only the third campground I have been to, so I wouldn't say I have a lot of experience. The other two I went to were on large lakes, with their own lake beach access. However, they were not near the ocean, like Sea Pirate is. Sea Pirate has access to the bay in the rear of the campground. Near the front, there is a pool, baseball field, playground, clubhouse, store, and other amenities. The campground is kept clean and the rules are followed (which is a good thing). I have visited many times over the last few years, as family friends own a site there. This has inspired us to purchase our own. We like the location (close to LBI Beach, Amusements, great Restaurants, etc), the amenities, and the size of Sea Pirate. It is not too big. Front desk staff is usually friendly and helpful. You can bring your own trailer and stay for short term, rent a site for the season, or rent a cabin. I would recommend anyone to give this campground a shot.

We rented the captains cottage, which is the biggest space available at the campground. This is perfect for my family of 7. They do not offer linens or pillows which made packing very cumbersome. However, my biggest issue was that instead of a pullout leather couch, there was a visibly dirty and worn brown futon in the living room space. There was so much dirt we had to bring it outside to shake it out. I covered it with a sheet, but it gave me a gross vibe. The chair in the living room area was also faded and worn so we covered it as well. The carpeting in the loft area also looked old and worn. The AC in the bedroom has a broken vent that blew directly on our faces as we slept. My family has done lots of cabins, but we all agreed this was our least favorite. On the plus side, the kitchen area was nice-soap and paper towels provided at least, along with dishes. We also enjoyed the ice cream shop and staff there.

Warning: The bugs at the campground are bionic and will bite through bug spray.

If you are considering a stay at Sea Pirate, book early! We managed to grab 2 nights in October only because the folks who ordinarily stay at our site couldn't make it this year (we know, because their friends and family who had the sites all around us told us - they usually book their sites a year in advance). In any event, we enjoyed our stay so much that we tried to book for next year upon check out and couldn't find an open week to fit our schedule!

This is a gated campground and you need a code to get in. The sites are large, wooded, clean, and the campground signage and map were understandable. There were lots of kids running about, happily playing. All the guests looked very comfortable with their surroundings. There is a dog park, playground, baseball field, pool, jumping pillow, activity buildings, canoe and kayak rentals, a nice general store, and walking trails. It looked like we just missed a Halloween-themed weekend. There was haunted hay ride decorations still up all around the campground. There are many, many seasonal campers here. The back of the campground abuts to beautiful marshlands. Just stunning, but yes, quite buggy. Definitely bring your bug spray.

We liked the super convenient location too. We visited Historic Smithville and the Tuckerton Seaport during our stay. We had a great time and hopefully we can sneak in a quick trip again next year.

Very poorly ran operation, totally unprofessional. They kept a $600 deposit from me citing a contract which they themselves could not honor. Some very nice campgrounds in the area which have solid moral values and are true and honest unlike Sea Pirate.

We took a mini four night vacation at Sea Pirate in West Creek, New Jersey. We had a one room small cabin with a bathroom.

1. Day 1-3 no hot water. Fixed 3rd day morning.
2. Day 2 rented golf cart, bucks & backfires. Told by office, operator error, refused to replace. Replaced that night by water heater repair man who stated the carburetor needed repair.
3. Day 2 found our electronics were not charged because 3 plugs didn’t work, complain to Office. One was replaced because the technician was told ONE OUTLET wasn’t working. He had to come back to repair the rest.
4. Most uncomfortable mattresses if you can call them that. Only 3-4” thick!
5. Told we would be compensated for our inconvenience.
So now we go to sign out & return the keys. I ask about being compensated & they tell me yes I was being compensated for one nights stay which I was happy with until I found out it was a credit for a future stay! I told them no I wanted it to be put towards this stay & they laughed at me & said they don’t do that. Then I find out when I got their email that the credit expires in a year! So all in all STAY AWAY from Sea Pirate!

I have known the Ben family (Bobby/Patrick/David/their mother Anne) since I was 4 and they have always treated everyone with respect and kindness. Shout out to E7 and T11 from back in the day. My best childhood memories, during the summer, came from Sea Pirate Light Campground! The pinball machines, the pool table, and the jukebox! Thanks again for the best memories of my childhood!

They need to upgrade their wifi or offer third party supplier
This is a major problem because u will use all your data
This put a damper on our vacation because we were there for a week with 2 kids using wifi

Upon arrival seasonal sights were overgrown and staff was not welcoming. Rules enforcement was overbearing. I went out and bought crab traps hoping to go crabbing with the family we drove to the area and had to walk down a path that was farther than what you would want to walk to crab. When we finally got to the area it was only about 3 foot wide then you had the kayaker's putting them in the water and there was no room. We walked back to the golf cart and didn't crab. Kid went fishing in the pond full of stagnate water that had scum all around so we left there. Went to the pool they wouldn't let us put the umbrella up the said it was to windy, there was hardly any wind, by the way the umbrella is waited down by a big concrete bottom bigger that the ones you would find at home. My mom sat in the car until we left. Golf carts were not permitted after 8 pm (really) it's not even dark out, They have headlights on them. We are big campers that drive all over to camp and would never recommend this place. ADVERTISEMENT VERY MISLEADING!!!

I’m looking to tent. I know it will be hot, but Is it super buggy in July?

It will be buggy but it depends on where your tent will be. Stay clear of the pond and the marsh. Bring a good fan and bug spray if you go.
