We had such a wonderful time. The owners are such wonderful people and they welcomed us with open arms. Our room was wonderful and we slept like babies. The coffee/tea station had everything you need from Cafe Bustelo (My Favorite) to Hot Chocolate. The breakfast was awesome and always filling. You can eat outside if you like on the decks or in the gazebo. At night they always had munchies to snack on. On the last day we had to leave early before breakfast to catch our flight. They had muffins and fruit set up for us to take with us. Thank you both for a wonderful and relaxing 4 night stay. Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality and we will see you soon. Thank you very much Catherine and Lorenzo!!! The photos are from the back of the Inn. Such a wonderful view!!!
I have stayed at JD Thompson many times and it never disappoints. All of the common rooms are clean and welcoming. Beautiful decorated with lots of reading material about the area The breakfast is wonderful and varied. Snacks and water are always available But the inn keepers/owners are the real gems. They are friendly . They engage each guest in conversation about what the plan of day make.helpful suggestions.
The in is operated by two very nice people who make you feel right at home. Close to many attractions and not far from LBI. Great off street parking. Probably not handicapp accessible though. Great location for my needs this trip.
I had a great 3 day stay here for business. The location in right in town and conveniently in walking distance to most restaurants. The owners gave great recommendations and provided fresh breakfast each morning with ingredients from their onsite garden. I would highly recommend for a trip on or off season.
First let me say that this is a “period” house with lots of stairs, so keep that in mind if you are booking. Also, the location is Main Street so there was traffic noise, although it was very quiet later in the evening. We had driven in from quite a distance and appreciated the accommodation of checking in a little early so that we could regroup prior to going to an event we were attending. Our first impression of the hostess was that although not “unfriendly”, not as inviting or as enthusiastic as I would have expected from someone operating a B & B. We were given a pretty basic tour of the place and our room. For a “superior” room, I found it to be on the small side for the price, but it was clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable and the linens of good quality. The adjoining bath was “newer” so I was surprised that there were no grab bars for the tub/shower. This is very much a safety issue since the floor was very slippery when wet. Robes were provided and the bath towels were of better quality than many hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast was served late for us (8:30-9:30), and there were no choices. I wonder what would have happened if we didn’t like what they were serving? Paper plates and plastic utensils are still in use. The gentleman who was preparing breakfast never introduced himself, but was very pleasant and the hostess seemed more friendly on our second day. The exterior of the property could use some freshening up as it looks a little “weary”. There were a couple of “soft” stairs leading to the parking area. Again, a safety issue for me. Would we stay there again? I think so.…
We stayed at the Inn for a few days while helping family. The inn keepers were the sweetest couple and very tentative to our needs while there. I can just imagine how beautiful the inn is in the spring. I love the history experience while there. The inn is a little dated and in need of a few fixes but we loved it and would stay again. The inn is not handicap accessible and required going up and down stairs.
A beautiful welcoming home and a lovely gazebo setting out back of the house. Inside a gracious area awaits the guests. The very large and spacious original 1800's home in Town is the perfect setting for the furnishings and they are beautiful. The host's Lorenzo and Catherine are delightful and helpful. We chose # 3 Suite... at the back of the house it's quiet and serene. Very private and spotlessly clean. Catherine has seen to everything, from breakfast of several selections and her own preserves, to helpful suggestions for dining in the area. Lorenzo's Breakfast with Ham Omelet was delicious and enlightened me how to make an egg dish stand out with fresh herbs. We will certainly visit them again when we are in the area. They are in town within distance to several attractions such as the nationally known Tuckerton Seaport. The Bulkhead down on S.Green Street, where you can crab, fish & wade in the water of the bay. There is a shooting range and golf minutes away. Long Beach Island is 20 mins away. The lights of Atlantic City ( 30 mins ) can be seen from The Bulkhead ( as locals call it ) on S. Green St during a high tide in the evenings. Thank you, Lorenzo and Catherine we enjoyed our short stay.…
We stayed for one night while in town visiting family. The property is quaint and clean, full of antiques and period furniture. Catherine and her husband were very accommodating, allowing us to check in a couple hours early. The room was good size with a private shower. The bed was a bit to stiff, but that's just our preference. Breakfast was delicious- homemade jam, croissants, fresh fruit, and omelets. Nice conversation and overall pleasant stay!
If you would like to leave your house and still feel like home you definitely need to stay at JD Thompson Inn. the food and atmosphere is amazing and room clean and comfortable. We are definitely are coming back Diana & Patrick
From the minute we arrived our host made us feel at home. The beautiful original decor with antique furniture and furnishings will impress the most decerning traveller. Original art work and beautiful porcelain and glasswear abound. Our room, upstairs at the back of the property had a 4 poster bed with antique wardrobe and chest of drawers, in keeping with the rest of the home. A private bathroom and a desk area complete the room. Bed was comfortable with soft pecale-type sheets. Breakfast was awesome. Who wouldn’t like an Italian cook fixing this for you. Unlike Adam B’s comment, our fruit was really nice, as were the fresh croissants. Catherine and her husband were really interesting to talk to with some great info on the home and surrounding area. There were snacks available for guests all day, with water and juice in the fridge plus teas and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble. The weather was really bad for the time of year...May ...and we had continuous rain, so an umbrella was provided by Catherine, together with coupons for the Tuckerton port. If you are in the area you should definitely consider JD Thompson. It is definitely value for money which you will see when comparing other properties. We would definitely stay again.…
