I am extremely upset regarding an incident that happened at your Hawthorn Suites in Tinton Falls, NJ on June 11th, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Due to being made to feel unsafe at the location when the incident happened, I decided it was best to handle it after I had left the premises and could contact management. When my husband and I arrived at Hawthorn Suites to check in, there were four police cars there. Not knowing what the situation was, I waited a few minutes before entering, to attempt to ascertain if there was any danger. Four police cars where I come from would typically indicate a dangerous situation. Once I ascertained that I didn't hear any commotion, I sheepishly entered to check in. It turned out that the police were there because a customer was very upset. I then checked in and made sure that I had a first floor room as I requested over the phone, when I explained that I had a large, handicapped dog traveling with me and he could not walk stairs. I was pleased that my request was fulfilled and we had a first floor suite. My husband, my dog, and I stayed two nights and were casually getting ready to depart on June 11th, as the sign on the door indicated check out was at noon. My husband decided to run up to Wawa for coffee when he was confronted by a woman in the parking lot asking if we had a dog. He indicated that we did, in fact, have a dog, but that he was on his way out for coffee and that she could come speak with me. The woman walked quickly over to our suite (113) and pounded, loudly and aggressively, on the door. I came to the door, already on edge at the manner in which she "greeted" me. She told me that I had to come to the front desk right away because I didn't pay the $100 dog deposit. I told her my husband wasn't there and I didn't want to leave my dog in the room alone, as he would bark and disturb the other patrons. She told me I had to come right away and that I hadn't filled out the appropriate paperwork. I told her I was NOT coming immediately but I would certainly take care of it when we checked out. When my husband returned, I went to the front desk to address her concerns and check out. She asked me if I was leaving as it was 11:00. I told her we would certainly be out by noon, as the sign in our suite indicated. She told me check out was at 11 and that I hadn't requested a late check out. I told her I would do my best to be done by 11:20. I am a responsible dog owner. I told staff that I had a HANDICAPPED dog when I called and that was why I needed a first floor room. Obviously, staff was too busy dealing with an upset customer (and four policemen) when I arrived, and neglected to have me sign additional paperwork required for an animal staying with a guest. THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT. And then, to be treated like some kind of a criminal was completely uncalled for. I FELT UNSAFE due to her aggressive knocking, demeanor, and her telling me I had to come with her right away. Who does this woman think she is to address me that way? When she walked away from my suite, she left me with my hands shaking and in tears. I do not deserve to be treated in such a manner. I wanted to ask for her name, but I was afraid it would only escalate the situation. I would like to know how you will be addressing this situation and how you plan to make this right. I spent way too much money at your establishment, only to have my experience ruined the day of check out by an intimidating employee. very nice place, plenty of room in the unit. Hot Breakfast was wonderful and unexpected. Didn't get to use the pool but it looked very inviting, only wish it opened early then 10 am. Hopefully use next time we stay.

This hotel was clean. Staff very kind. Internet signsl was terrible. Beds are small, (more like full size,)There is A LOT of wood rot in exterior...but overall hotel was ok. We would stay here again. Representative did match online pricing too!!

If you don't mind not having secured internet and intermittent service and limited bathroom storage space, this is a great place. Great as a layover or for 1-2 days max. We spent 4 nights and the lack of internet service in the back room on the premises was frustrating. Can't do work for work w/o a secured network. Kitchen was great however, they forgot to check to make sure it was stock with cooking pans (pots/cookie sheet). You can obtain at front desk but would have been nice to walk into a room that ready to go. Beds were great and living space area was comfortable.

I read the reviews quickly before booking here and wished I had read more closely. The check in went fine but when I got to my room, the smell was terrible. I had some Lysol in my car and I sprayed it but it did nothing to cover the smell. I had my daughter with me and decided to give her a shower. The tub was stained and slippery. The towels were old. Everything was so worn. I went to put my daughter in bed and she asked me what was in the bed. It was a bug. I took a picture and was granted a full refund. The manager seems concerned but dismissive. The place needs to be renovated. Since the incident, I have been contacted by manager and Wyndham but just be aware.
