Just returned from a micro-vacation, 2 nights. King room #20. Room was large, very quiet at night, air conditioner made the room comfy, rug was clean enough to walk on barefoot, bed was softer than I'm used to but still comfy with lots of pillows. We brought snacks and there is a common refrigerator that you can store them, including frozen items. Everything you would need for the beach is provided. Badges are extra charge but that's expected.
Can't beat the location... one block from beach entrance. Bikes/locks are provided and we road each day. Town is literally a 5 minute ride away. Large covered porch where we spent a lot of time reading and relaxing.
Breakfast is included and it was small but enough to fill us up till lunch. I understand that they usually have a buffet but due to Covid, changed it to single service.
Staff is outgoing and friendly and went out of their way to make the stay pleasant.
All employees had masks on at all times and we were asked to do the same in common areas. 'Mask Up' signs were everywhere as a reminder. No problems there.
Traveling during this pandemic has been challenging. I would not hesitate to stay here again and plan to in the fall.

My wife and I just spent four days at the Ocean House, and loved every minute of it. Our room was very nice, and the huge porch was a great spot to hang out. We had breakfast out there, afternoon drinks and even our takeout dinner (restaurants are still take-out or delivery only). The beach is just one block away and they supply beach chairs and towels . The lake is one block the other direction, and the town itself is a short walk or bike ride away. We also took advantage of the bikes they offer to explore the local streets. The area is flat and mostly quiet so it was pleasant to ride around. The included breakfast was quite good as well. The owners and staff did a good job of keeping the place clean and wearing masks in theses covid-filled times. And they were quite charming! We will be back.

We stayed at The Ocean House for several nights. First the pros, super nice staff, very friendly and accommodating. We tried to make a reservation at a local restaurant, but could not get through. The staff kept trying on our behalf, secured a reservation and texted us. There are no blow dryers in the rooms, but they provided one for our stay. We brought our own bikes and they provided us a place to securely store them. Very helpful with directions and suggestions for things to see locally since the weather unfortunately was not great for the beach. The porch is very nice, very relaxing with a combination of comfy chairs and tables you can eat at. They do provide refrigerators for guest use. The room was very quiet and private. The con is it was on the third floor, no elevator and the room was smaller than a standard hotel room. Good exercise though going up and down the stairs. The cons, the property is a little dated and could use an update. We found the breakfast, although good, to be lacking in choices. We’ve stayed at many bed and breakfasts and were surprised at only one hot choice and limited cold choices. Portion sizes were also on the smaller size compared to other places we’ve stayed. Parking as mentioned by other reviews is also pretty limited. It seemed that once guests had a spot in the on-site lot, they did not move their car. Parking on ocean avenue one block away was fine and plentiful. The first night I was nervous leaving my car out of sight but it was fine.
The other con is wifi was spotty, especially in our room and very slow. They would benefit from updating routers and/ or repeaters. The wifi in particular was disappointing. It was a pleasant escape for a couple days, but not sure we’d go back.

Just checked out this morning from a one night stay at The Ocean House and can’t wait to return! We had decided at the very last minute on Wednesday to book a room for Thursday into Friday and am VERY happy we did. My husband had to call there twice on Wednesday with some questions we had on beach tags and food allergies and even he commented to me how nice the man and woman were that he spoke to over the phone. Once we arrived, we found parking and headed in. The wrap around porch is amazing and absolutely perfect. The lobby and sitting parlors are just fantastic and the check-in process was super easy and efficient. We got our room key and beach tags and were offered to have a young man help us to our room with our bags. We gladly accepted that offer as we were on the 3rd floor and the stairs are rather narrow. We unpacked quickly and then decided to take advantage of the free bike rentals and take a 7-8 minute bike ride into town for lunch. While we were deciding where to go to have lunch and then dinner later we ran into Jared outside who was about to cut the lawn and he gave us some of his favorite options. We saw Jared several times during our short stay and he is a top notch customer driven and delightful person to interact with. We rode along the lake into town and it is such a great town! Had a very nice lunch at a cafe and headed back to get changed for the beach. The beach is literally 1 block away and has extremely easy access on and off and it was incredibly clean. We wanted to walk the boardwalk this morning but it was pouring rain when we left so that will have to wait until next time.

I was also thoroughly pleased with all of the COVID protection protocols the B&B has in place and felt very safe staying there. Thanks for a wonderful time and I am excited to recommend this place to friends and family as well as return soon!

The Ocean House is perfectly situated steps from Spring Lake beach as well as steps from the beautiful lake in the center of town. The staff are amazing and make it a point to ensure every guest feels at home and enjoys their stay. They have created a welcoming environment even in these trying times that enables every guest to feel completely safe from a health perspective (every staff member was wearing a mask at all times and guests are required to wear masks indoors) as well as completely comfortable and at home. The Ocean House is a place where you can come for both short stays or long stays to relax and get away. The historic building, built in 1878, has tremendous charm and a gorgeous porch where you can enjoy your generous breakfast included in your room charge as well a wonderful cross breeze. I have been coming to the Ocean House with my family for the last 15 years and I am looking forward to the next 15 years and beyond!

We stayed at the Ocean House mid July 2021 for four nights to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary. We were very pleased with the entire experience, every day, and we plan to stay again. Over the decades, my husband and I have traveled a great deal in the US and in Europe. We have stayed at many different types of hotels from modern chains, to old inns and B&Bs to five star hotels. We really loved the ambiance of the Ocean House, from it’s historic architecture to the décor and wonderful front porch celebrating what’s best about the NJ Shore and Spring Lake. We were very happy with our room.

We parked on Ocean Avenue and kept all of our beach gear in the car. When we checked in the receptionist reviewed all of the amenities with us and gave us a tour of the main floor. She also insisted on helping us with our bags, so we shared some with her. The staff we met were very friendly.

Ocean House does have a small parking lot, but we never used it. Since I grew up at the Jersey Shore I know that parking in any shore town is at a premium. We were inspired by people of all ages jogging and walking on the boardwalk at all hours of the day. We are seniors and enjoy walking.

There is a plentiful breakfast of cold and hot items. The hot special dish each day changes and it is always very good. We enjoyed breakfast on the porch in the morning. In the evening, we often ordered dinner delivered from Spring Lake Pizza and their entrees are very good (we never had pizza!). They will deliver to the front of the Ocean House. We also ate dinner on the porch. (Due to Covid we were not comfortable dining in.) There are two refrigerators for guests to put their items in, you just mark your room number. The dining room is very cheerful and there is coffee, water and tea available.

We rode the bikes around town and walked the boardwalk and neighborhoods many times. We walked to Mass at St. Catherine’s on Sunday morning. We went to the beach every day. The beaches were clean and the water was clear.

This was a very well run B&B. Very clean, excellent breakfast, & beautiful facility. The parking at the Inn only holds about 10 cars. For overnight parking you have to park a block away in the diagonal spaces next to the ocean. One thing I thought was clever is if you need extra soap or shampoo they leave it out in the lobby for you to take it yourself. The owner was very proactive & engaging with guests.

Hands down the best B&B ever!! Everything was absolutely perfect! From the time you check in until the time you check out, you feel welcome and special. The owners have thought of everything and have added so many little touches to make your stay relaxing. Everyone on the staff is kind, friendly and helpful. The house is breathtaking and everything is so clean and spotless. It is a block from the beach - easy walk with easy beach access. They provide beach chairs and towels for you to use each day. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. The wraparound porch is so relaxing and cozy and there are tables so you can eat outside and enjoy the view. The flowers and landscaping are picture perfect. I will definitely be coming back!

We stayed here for a little Anniversary get-away in our favorite beach town, Spring Lake. The Ocean House has the perfect location; a block from the beach and a block to the lake. The porch is wonderful and there is always a breeze blowing through and I appreciated that they've kept the Victorian Charm and history of the Inn. Breakfast was delicious and we also appreciated the Lemonade, water and Iced Tea that were available throughout the day. The staff did a terrific job with handling the COVID protocols and yet maintained a friendly atmosphere. The only downside was the condition of the bikes, many of the chains were rusty and one we chose didn't have brakes. It is a nice perk to have the bikes but we just didn't feel comfortable taking them too far. We paid a little extra to get a room with an ocean "glance" but didn't use it much and probably wouldn't do that again. The porch and proximity to the beach are enough and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed here last week due to power loss at home for about a week due to hurricane. First time at a BB and was pretty good. Room was clean and AC worked good. Staff helped us get a room at a fair price when everything else was sold out. Too bad I still went to work everyday bc 1 block from the beach, 10 min walk to downtown spring lake, bikes and beach chairs all available. Didn’t try the breakfast but looked delicious. The dining room was great with fresh hot / cold coffee tea, waters, soda and snacks. If I didn’t live 15 min away we would 100% be back. Thanks again Ocean House.

Because spring lake is the nicest town at the Jersey Shore! You pay for location. And it's a bed and breakfast it's not going to be brand new.
