We love it and have been staying there since my son was two! He is now 29. The place is scrupulously clean, and nicely decorated. It is very comfortable. Breakfast is simple but always delish! Beach passes, chairs, bikes etc included. The beach at Spring Lake is a short block from the beach and is not as crowded as other places on the Jersey shore. Asbury Park is a stone’s throw away if you want some great free outdoor music venues and big names for some great prices during the summer. When you add it all up, it is a great deal for a Jersey shore stay!

We have been visiting Spring Lake for years and have enjoyed being hosted by Helene and Joe many times. They are lovely people and most gracious and accommodating. The house is welcoming and immaculate. Our room is comfy and perfect for the two of us. We love sitting on the porch and relaxing after a day at the beach. The walk to the beach is very short. You can't go wrong by spending time in Spring Lake and staying at Johnson House. We highly recommend.

Spur of the moment weekend trip to Spring Lake and lucked out with a last minute opening at The Johnson House. Hellin is a great hostess. The place is spotless and light breakfast offered everyday. Fantastic porch.

Be advised there are no televisions in the guest rooms; could be great or terrible. There is a tv in the lobby/library if needed.

Truly enjoyed our time in Spring lake while staying at the Johnson House. Beautiful B&B located 1-block from the beach. Helene, the owner was wonderful. Enjoyed are time sitting on the large front porch, in this very lovely area. Go to the beach, Take a walk on the boardwalk, or down to 3rd street to shop & have lunch.

The town is small but nice for a family visit for a few days. All the accomodations in this town are in the $200 and up range, which seems pricey to me. (A cruise can actually be cheaper if you go a whole week). The town itself is very clean and full of pride. A tour of neighboring towns shows a big difference. The downtown is a mere 4 blocks long. The boardwalk is nice for walking (no stores) and allows bicycles 6-9AM (beware the headwind/tailwind). The beach was very clean, crowded on weekends but not bad during the week.

Johnson House Inn was a wonderful B&B - clean, friendly, allowed young children. The breakfast was store-bought (cereal, fresh cut fruit, toast) except for eggs & bacon some days (not all), which was disappointing as their brochure advertises homemade. It was walking distance to the beach, and they provided beach passes, chairs (you carry them), umbrellas, and sand toys. No phone/TV in room but who needs it with a big ol' porch w/swing, and the boardwalk/ocean so close. Room had A/C but we barely needed it at night. TV/VCR in common area/living room.
Overall, it was a good experience for a short 1 1/2 hour ride from the Phila. area.

I am always a little nervous when booking at a small inn or b&b. The experience can be wonderful or a disaster.

Fortunately for us, the Johnson House Inn was in the former category. The inn has been completely restored in recent years and the place is immaculately clean.

Hellin and Joe are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are beyond accommodating and a pleasure to chat with. Hellin serves a wonderful continental breakfast and different daily hot dish as well.

Our room was not huge but was comfortable and very clean. And honestly, with the beach only half a block away, the town & shops just a 10 min stroll and the wonderful wraparound porch at the in, you are pretty much only in your room to
sleep. (They do offer larger rooms to accommodate families.)

The inn is quiet and in a great location and offers everything you need for a seaside retreat! Bravo Hellin & Joe for their amazing hospitality and excellent upkeep of this historic home.

The Johnson House was renovated a few years ago and they went top-drawer the whole way. The rooms are spacious and outfitted with a casual elegance. Helene and Joe could not be nicer. Joe picked me up at the Spring Lake train station. They give you beach badges, and towels, chairs and umbrellas for the beach. And, if you want to ride to town (5 minutes), they give you a bike. Helene makes a delicious scone or Finnish pancake every morning to go with the fresh fruit and cereals and breads she puts out. You want for nothing at the Johnson House, and it is picture perfect and could not be cleaner. Walter.

This is a charming house that has been renovated with care. The location is perfect. It is an easy walk to the beach as well as to the town. What is outstanding about the Inn is the kindness and generosity of the owners, Joe and Hellin. They are eager to make sure that you are happy and that all your needs are met. They are quick to offer you a ride , advice about a restaurant or make a reservation. Their goal is to do all that they can to ensure that you feel like guests in their home. Our stay was brief due to inclement weather but we do hope to return.

The Johnson House Inn is the perfect getaway. Welcoming owners, beautifully furnished guest rooms and public spaces, and the best porch in a location that can't be beat, just a block from the Spring Lake beach. Hellin and Jack serve breakfast treats like homemade scones, Finnish pancakes and bacon & eggs, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, breads and cereals daily. Guests can read, converse or simply enjoy the ambiance on a porch that is filled with rockers and comfortable wicker chairs; also a great place for morning coffee!

It speaks volumes when you call this inn last-minute (and for the first time) to see if there may be a cancellation and the innkeeper (Hellin) simply asks for your name and phone number and says, "See you tomorrow." No credit card to hold or any other formality. You know that you're heading to an place where informality rules. And this is the Johnson House Inn.

Hellin and Joe are absolutely wonderful innkeepers -- sat outside on their amazing porch in the evening just to chat. The inn itself is wonderful...very relaxed environment. My room was lovely -- great bed, clean, and with a private patio overlooking the street which provided an ideal location to sit at night and star-watch.

The location is two shorts blocks from the beach, one of the best along the Jersey shore. The town is a few blocks away yet be sure to check with the specific restaurant or store before venturing there in the evening as most were closed (quite surprising given that it's the middle of summer).

The inn has on-site parking for a good number of cars and provides bikes and beach umbrellas for guests. The inn does allow children (there were quite a few during my visit) so if you're looking for an adult-only inn getaway, best to ask about this beforehand. You leave the inn relaxed and refreshed and having met innkeepers who have become friends.
