This was my first time staying at the Islander Motel but not my last. This motel is a gem! The rooms are spotless, the location is super convenient (5-min. walk to the beach and no island traffic on or off), and Joe the owner is wonderful. I forgot my bike lock and went to the office to ask if there was a place nearby to buy one, and Joe whipped one out from behind his desk that I could use for the weekend. It's a small gesture, but he saved me money and precious time trying to find a store.
I can't say enough good things about the islander motel. I have stayed everywhere in LBI and this is hidden gem. Joe the owner is so nice and accommodating but now to the room. If you are like me and truly scared of motel stays with your kids you don't have to be here. SUPER CLEAN!!!! That is all I want in a motel stay. This says a lot about a motel and especially a beach motel. I inspected every area of the room before I even let my kids enter and I was so impressed. We got an efficiency unit for more room. Easy walk to the beach(block and a half). If you are on the fence don't be. Overall great trip!
Home away from home. Proprietor is most welcoming and just what was needed in the middle of stressful working conditions to recoup. Clean, pleasant, quiet, and just right & comfortable amenities without all the fuss, and quick access to the beach. Fir the price couldn’t ask for better.
Great location and hidden gem. The owner is great; motel is super clean and has everything you need. Nice size refrigerator. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants and souvenir shops. Loved our stay !
We've been stating here for years. Joe Clark, the owner is the best. He will go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are immaculate, and well-appointed. His upstairs deck is one one of our favorite spots. There is a gas grill on-premises that we use all the time. The Islander Motel is also very convenient. I'd recommend it to anyone. Tom Driscoll
What a cute & updated hotel this is. Joe and his wife have got to be the most accommodating owners I have ever met. I won't give them 5 stars, I will give them 100 stars. Best value for a motel on the island
I had a wonderful stay here! The rooms are very clean, and I stayed in a nicely furnished efficiency with a cute little kitchen nook. The owner, Joe, was incredibly kind, friendly, helpful, and hospitable. The location is also fantastic--a short walk to the beach, and within easy walking distance of lots of restaurants and shops. Would absolutely recommend!
Had a great visit at the Islander. It’s conveniently located near the entrance to the island, and there’s an incredible donut spot (Shore Good Donuts) on your way to the beach, which is just two blocks away. Joe was helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and reasonably-priced. We were able to use their beach tags and beach chairs. I would stay here again.
This was my 1st time in LBI, and I can't say enough good things about the Islander Motel. We were supposed to check in in the afternoon, but our room was ready to go. That's a testament to the preparation and the cleanliness the Islander provided. They were not taking any chances during this pandemic. The room was pristine, and it was a block from the beach. Joe, the owner, was spot on with all of his recommendations on food and activities. My girlfriend loves seafood, while I'm an Italian Sandwich kind of guy. He recommended Ship Bottom Shellfish and Mystic Meats. Both were A1 recommendations. Then we went mini golfing at night. My girlfriend loved it, while I'm a sore loser and don't wanna talk about it.... I'm a natural skeptic, and I was iffy at first. But soon as we got there all of my skepticism melted away and I just felt happy to stay at a wonderful place, with an incredible staff. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a hotel or motel. Thank you for everything, Joe! You truly are a gem!…
I posted this on a local Long Beach Island Facebook page, but I wanted to make sure it was shared here as well. “I know a lot of people look for houses when coming down to LBI to rent, but I wanted to HIGHLY recommend The Islander Motel in Ship Bottom. Joe was the man at the front desk, and who I assume is the owner. He was nothing but kind and helpful. The room was clean, with a microwave, keurig, and fridge. It’s not big and flashy, but it doesn’t need to be, because if you’re looking for a very reasonably priced, clean and friendly place to spend a few days, you’ve come to the right place.” Great experience with the Islander Motel!!
