The beauty and sheer romance of this place is incredible! I can't wait to go back with my husband. We have stayed there twice, in two different rooms. The continental breakfast is complimentary, and very good. Perfect place for a wedding!

Yes, it is an old structure so if you're expecting Motel 6 amenities you probably aren't the type of person to stay here. It is not modern and that is a huge part of the charm. we stayed one night in the Gatsby room and it was wonderful. We explored this huge place and were amazed at the interior. Just a really cool experience and the Innkeeper, Rich, was very accommodating and just a really nice guy. Basic continental breakfast was fresh and delicious. The grounds around the Manor are elegant and will make you think about what it must have been like back way back when.

Stayed for a weekend because we have enjoyed touring a number of historic homes, and this was a unique opportunity to stay in one. We were traveling with another couple, and were both given lovely rooms on the second floor. While the amenities might not be as updated as most of us expect from a nice hotel, you just can’t beat the charm of this place. I’m happy to use a 100 year old sink! I am grateful the house hasn’t been modernized into something unrecognizable as historic. Window ACs, weak WiFi, and truly lame water pressure in the shower were my complaints. But the room was clean, very comfortable, and gorgeous. We were also given the run of the first floor, which is large and full of amazing plaster ceilings, wood carvings, and stained glass that dates to the 16th century. The library and adjacent office were our favorite rooms, but each room impresses. And then there are the gardens! My favorite time of day was early evening...the park visitors leave, and if you are staying at the manor, you have the grounds to yourself. Wander to the annual or perennial gardens... admire random statues... wait for the fireflies to light up the grounds. It was so peaceful. The innkeeper was friendly and helpful with every request. He made our stay feel incredibly relaxed. Loved my weekend here!

This is a very romantic place! If you want to surprise that special person I definitely recommend it! The room was great and comfortable! Staff was very nice to us, the night manager is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, they do not have a restaurant. Gardens are spectacular.

Skylands Manor is inside the NJ Botanical Garden (which is part of the Ringwood State Park), it was built in 1920's and offers B&B when there isn't wedding/event booked on site. Please note that it is not the Ringwood Manor (also in the state park) which is much older (built in early 1800s) and offers an excellent guided tour ($3 for adults)but no overnight stays. The day before our stay we went over some details with Skylands' staff Ophelia and she handled our check-in very nicely. In the evening and for next morning's breakfast, Rich was the innkeeper and he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Rich also made a delicious hot breakfast entree in addition to the Continental buffet spread. On nice days breakfast can be taken on the terrace overlooking the beautiful formal gardens/fountain/pond behind the mansion. You can also tour additional garden areas near the mansion that make up the NJBG. Usually on first Sunday of each month, there is docent-led tour of the first floor of the mansion. For overnight lodging, it's worth spending a little more for the suites (the Queen suite with very large LR, King bed, and spacious bathroom). This is a historic building and the bathrooms have "vintage" fixtures, though operated well. (hot water ran right away and did not need a lengthy wait). This B&B usually runs only on TH-Sun, so some areas/decor items can be a bit dusty. The biggest downside was the loud room a/c units which needed getting used to (not an issue if you go in cooler months). Overall it's a unique and worthwhile stay!
