My friends and I recently stayed at the Driftwood Motel. We had an oceanfront shared balcony which didn’t bother us or our neighbors. We arrived and checked in with ease but never realized that the lady in the office forgot to give us our parking pass and then scolded us for not putting it in our window.. the room was clean and very nice perfect for our girls weekend. One night we went to the boardwalk & came home around 1:30am, some man yelled at us for “yelling” when we were just laughing and having a good time on our walk home. The next day the lady in the office (never got her name) called us down from the balcony and said that we would be kicked out if we were “yelling” again and she came and counted us to make sure it was only 5 of us staying there ... i found this very unprofessional & quite threatening. The hotel itself was amazing, we loved the pool and private beach but the management was unprofessional and rude.

This is my place to go when I crave for the ocean and a pleasant quiet stay. Management people are all nice, the price is best among the motels from the area and the location couldn't be better. Rooms are very clean and no closed common areas to worry about in this pandemic.

Stayed early June for 4 days. Room 118.My friend and I were looking for a place at the beach where we could relax and still social distance. We found it! When we arrived I asked for an upgrade and was granted. We wanted to stay an extra day. No problem. We left the property only once for 3 hours. Room was very clean. Beach was Great. Had all our food delivered. Best Covid getaway we could ask for. Thanks Betty.

We always read Trip Advisor reviews before booking hotel reservations. We paid $200/night for our room which was advertised as an Oceanfront Suite, on the 2nd floor, with a balcony overlooking the “heated” pool and ocean. The reviews on Trip Advisor were reassuring. This was our experience: Yes, we had a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. (We love to go to sleep hearing the sound of the ocean). Since no restaurants are open due to Covid, I pictured us getting takeout and having our dinners on the balcony. We never got to hear the ocean at night, nor did we eat meals on the balcony. We quickly learned that the balcony is shared with the renters in the next room, so that was awkward. But it got much worse. It appears that young locals rent one of the $99/night rooms and then have all of their friends over for pool parties. LOUD Spanish music, lots of seductive dancing by girls in string bikinis, a big bottle of Tequila on the table, F-bombs flying....No respect or regard for the other guests. A mom and her little girl were enjoying the pool but left after 2 of the partiers left and then returned with several more people. As for the pool itself, it was never cleaned while we were there. During the day, it was full of large local families. The outdoor bathroom (which I wish I took pics of) was open the first day we arrived, but closed after that. I wonder where ALL those kids were peeing?? There is a little shack by the pool they refer to as “The Snack Bar.” Again, I wish I took pics. When I asked the manager if they were going to be open during the time of our stay she replied, “I have no idea.” On our first day, there was a sign that said Open till 1pm. I asked the man at the window, “Are you open every day till 1?” He practically scolded me for asking. “Nope. I’m closing today (Monday) and plan to stay closed all week. I’m one man here, doing it all!” On to the next thing....if you are a smoker, you will love this place. There are no smoke free areas period. If you’re not into smelling cigs, this is not the place for you. Next..you have to run the water for literally 5 minutes to get it warm. Never did we get hot water. On our third day we went to the ice machine for ice and it was totally empty, and a big inconvenience as my husband had to drive to the store for ice. There is not much within walking distance from this motel....another big disappointment. Lastly, who are these people writing reviews saying the rooms have been updated? I only have a few pics, but here they are. Our shared balcony, the stove, the carpeting....Thank God for the beautiful weather we had, or this trip would have been a total waste of money.

I've stayed at the Driftwood Motel several times in the past 16 years. How can you go wrong here. Clean cozy rooms that were just renovated. We stayed in room 107 which had two beds and a big closet. The room had lot's of space. A pool that's heated and always clean and of course - the beautiful beach just steps away. The deck by the pool has a food concession where you can get a cup of coffee in the morning as well as a hot or cold breakfast, they also serve lunch. At night you can sit by the deck and listen to the ocean waves. Always a relaxing experience. I wish I was there right now. Look forward to going back again and again.
