Pt. Pleasant is lacking in hotels as most people rent shore houses. This hotel is clean, located within walking distance of the boardwalk, and has a nice pool. The pricing (I was there off season) is reasonable. One small thing they could do to greatly improve the rooms is upgrade the quality of the comforter/blankets/pillows. They don't need W level bedding, just something a little nicer and pillows that aren't flat as a board.

My main complaint about this place is how far they go to keep it family friendly. It's understandable that a lot of people looking to party might book here and there I applaud them for trying to create a family friendly environment, but the approach they take is very aggressive and unsettling. It is a put off to people who don't even have any intentions of partying. There are signs located all over and a list of exhaustive rules provided at check in. I think they could get the point across without being so aggressive. Furthermore, they are so strict about the one car per room rule. I had 3 adults in one room with 2 cars. I requested to park in the lot and was denied. At 1 am there were over a dozen spots unoccupied. It wasn't a major deal to park across the street, but just an unnecessary argument when they could have been accommodating.

I have stayed here several times and highly recommend it. Very clean, friendly staff, can walk to beach. the pool is heated and rooms have small refrigerators. Behind hotel is my favorite restaurant in area The Wharfside, you must try it.

Finding a quote-on-quote suitable hotel down the jersey shore is tough! Anyone who has stayed down in this area knows that clean and quiet rooms are far and few between. I was suprised by the many positive reviews that the Surfside motel had on Google (via tripadvisor) so I booked a one-night stay there with my girlfriend. Let me tell you, for $69.00 I had the greatest time. The room was CLEAN, the sheets were CLEAN...everything was clean and smelled wonderful (the musk of ocean mold is common in these areas so I'm told). The pool was clean, the general upkeep of the motel is excellent, and the proximity to the boardwalk is a PLUS! I was greated by an excellent employee (an owner i presume) and had no problem checking in. I would deffinetly recommend.

This motel was a great value for the money. If you're looking for a place to sleep between visits to the beach and clubs and restaurants, this place was ok. It was clean and quiet. The office staff was friendly and made it a point to stress that this is a place for families and partying and loudness after hours would not be tolerated. We intend to stay there every summer.

We booked a room on Thursday for a Sat-Tues. stay, did not receive a confirming e-mail, as some parties have noted is done, which contains many rules. Got there, checked in, did notice giant "eyes on you" camera system in office, which accounted for that creepy being watched feeling, and a list of strict rules. Anyone we spoke to there commented on the ridiculous amount of rules and signs in place. Room 222 was alright, no amenities at all. We were woken up the first night by one of the "monitors" banging on our door, trying to force entry to the room with her key, completely ignoring the DND notice, to tell us our window was open. Fortunately, we had the safety lock on. We slept in, but since cleaning is from 11-1, strictly enforced as indicated by other patrons, missed that, didn't mind since we were the ones staying there. As our last day came, we spoke to a couple who advised they were staying an extra day and would be moved from their current room to our room, 222. No concerns there. We later asked the front desk about staying an additional day, were told that would be fine, were not told we had to move, which we would have gladly done. Payment for the extra night was accepted, went for a short drive, when we got back, we found we had been purposely locked out of our room due to it being "in an unacceptable condition" indicating the sheets were soiled and the refrigerator had been used. I was of the understanding that sheets were to be used on a bed when one is sleeping and a refrigerator is to be used when storing food. Can someone correct me? No one gave us their names, so I can only indicate that the woman marching around each day in gray shorts and lots of keys, and the one ordering us to leave, was absurd, saying they did not know how to clean the refrigerator, it would have to be thrown out at a cost of $150.00; apparently they do not know how to clean sheets either. Yes, we slept in the beds, we ate dinner (since this is largely a seafood area we stored leftovers in the refrigerator for one night). She said the rules indicated that no fish was to be stored in the fridge. I scoured the rules and have yet to find that; it will probably be added in. I am 65 and my companion is 52; we didn't roll in mud and sleep in the bed. For future information, you can wash a refrigerator with hot water, soap and leave baking soda if so desired, as any homemaker knows. As for sheets, you wash them in soap and water. Hope this helps. I can't provide a rate on service, as there wasn't any.

In the midst of this set-to, key girl also came up with a story that "someone" had seen my companion pour a can of beer out on the blacktop; they had no idea how to clean the gigantic stain it created (my suggestion is water). My friend informed her that he doesn't use cans, her story changed to it being a cup; regardless, he would not waste beer, and they did not offer any corroboration of this story despite a 16 camera overview (nor was it mentioned at the time we requested another night's stay). However, it apparently is permissible to have beer bottles inside the very small pool area.

Since their reasoning is so preposterous, I am presuming that the reservation was screwed up and rather than admit it, they concocted this farce to avoid responsibility of a booking error. If not, then you basically cannot use the sheets or the refrigerator, which was the explanation put forth.

So we left, no point in reasoning with idiocy. When I got home there was a frantic emergency call left on my home phone (made while we were still at the motel) , from Janine of the motel to call back immediately. An emergency to me is a fire, car crash, etc., not sheets and a refrigerator. Since a few hours had passed and I pretty much knew how stupid this was, I called back anyway, just in case. She was gone, I left a message, got no return call from anyone. After two more calls the following day I spoke with the extremely rude, boorish manager or whatever he is, name of Rich. In response to his "Whaddya want?" and my request for an apology for their crass treatment, he said I should apologize to him(?), and stressed that he had 16 cameras and caller ID, which has nothing to do with anything but I guess makes him feel important. He then hung up on me. I don't think this is professional hospitality promoting good business practices. So yeah, Rich, I am sorry, sorry that we stayed there and wound up having to deal with the nasty attitude of you and your staff. Maybe you should take one of your 16 cameras and point one towards yourself, not a very pleasant picture.

I take my family to visit the jersey shore every year. We stayed at a lot of shore motels, but this time it was the worst experience. We looked up the place online and liked what we saw. In addition, we read positive reviews before we made reservations. Their web site states how the place is clean and close to the boardwalk. It was not until we got there, that we found out that we have to walk for 30 or 40 mins carrying beach chairs and pushing strollers to get to the boardwalk. By the time we get there, we were so tired that we did not enjoy the beach. The rooms were ok, but we were surprised with empty beer canes and water bottles under the bed. The pool was smaller than our house pool and u feel like you are swimming in the middle of the street. People walking on the street and cars driving by are so close that the sometimes say hi to you. It was just the worst of our shore vacations. You can hear the cars driving by until 3 am , so much for a quite place. Never ever going back

We went for a long weekend with our 4 kids and they kicked us out! No housekeeping came the first day, so of course by the second day we had a lot of towels and trash. All of the towels were in a pile and all the trash in the can. The room was a little cluttered because of all of our things in such a small room but we hadn't ruined anything. They called us at the beach and told us we had to vacate immediately:( All that needed to be done was vacuum take the towels and trash and make the beds...pretty sure that's what housekeeping is supposed to do! All I know is that how I stay Ina hotel room is my business, if I ruin things is theirs! We WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! VERY RUDE!

This is by far the CLEANEST hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was extremely helpful and personable. Our room was beautiful, very comfortable. We were very grateful to them, especially since our original reservations for the weekend were at an absolutely DISGUSTING hotel a mile or so away. The staff at Surfside took care of us and gave us exceptional service....I would recommend them to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing stay at Point Pleasant Beach.
