Stayed 7/16 for 1 night, booked via Orbitz.
1. Chose over other hotels because hotel was advertised as having an outdoor pool. Not on Orbitz or Marriott website did it say that pool is not operating.
2. Breakfast was advertised as $15-$18 on Orbitz, and then $14 on Marriott, upon arrival - I was charged $24. Staff was not very well trained, had to ask for utensils, then for juice, then for coffee, then for jam.
3. Not sure if they provide lotion in the room, but they were out when I asked.
4. Windows in the room foggy or dirty or both, could see the fountain very well.
5. Gym was semi-clean, equipment was all over place and there were dry spills on the rubber tiles.
6. I understand after Covid situation but village feels abandoned, everything is closed.
7. Rooms were very clean.

No reason for outdoor pool to be closed. Should amend the website. it's disappointing. Indoor pool is too small for such a large hotel, it's shallow for children and hard for adults to swim, and it is kept at a very high temperature. Why? Nothing refreshing here.
Area surrounding the indoor pool could use a good cleaning. Nobody needs to see hairballs first thing in the morning.
They were sold out of bagels by 7:30 am on a Friday. What else to eat? $14 for overly processed freeze-dried eggs? Who is making planning decisions?
I gave it 3 stars because the staff is nice and the building could be good if they gave it needed attention. I won't return this year.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that earlier in the year the outdoor pool was closed. It was not our intention to close but we could not get it fixed fast enough. As soon as we could get it fixed, we did and opened it. We are sorry that it was closed. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to better serve you. Respectfully

After reading some recent reviews I was a little apprehensive but on arrival at the hotel we were more than happy with everything. Most of the staff were friendly and competent and our room was very comfortable too. We also stayed in a Pure Wellness room as we had Suite Nights available!

Breakfast was a little complicated however! We are Platinum so breakfast was complimentary but we still had to sign a bill with the option to leave a gratuity even although the breakfast ticket said that it was included. Anyway breakfast staff were very nice and helpful. We had dinner at the bar one night which was very nice and there was a restaurant just behind the hotel which was very nice too. A nice relaxing weekend before the stress of traveling across the pond under all the Covid rules, thank you!

This hotel events department would rather keep money than be a part of a solution to a public health crisis. They hosted a large gathering in the hotel the entire weekend I stayed there (no other dog friendly hotels in the area I could use) and were very weak on mask enforcement. The large party- which took over the entire hotel- did not wear masks at all in the common areas and claimed an exemption (there is not one in NJ). The staff were nice but very weak on enforcement. I voiced my concerns and said that I was very uncomfortable and the staff only apologized. In addition, over 2 days I only saw one person walking around with a lysol can after I complained multiple times. There was no visible staff sanitizing on a regular basis. The hallways were dirty from the large party and the elevators were clearly not wiped down. I am now isolotaing and going for a COVID test because of this. I have stayed in hotels before during this time that were WAY better. I am wildly disappointed and now concerned for my own health.

I have waited a few weeks for a reply from the General Manager Doug Ledke at the Westin at Forrestal Village and since I have yet to hear back I felt compelled to share the unfortunate experience I had there.

Hello,
Unfortunately I did not have a good experience and although actions were taken to make up for my extreme disappointment I still left very unhappy.
I had booked two rooms for myself and some friends and when I arrived to check in I was told that my friends had already arrived and were in their room. I asked HOW were they allowed to check in when I had not listed their name on the reservation? I saw this as a tremendous breach in your security policy and the manager who came out to speak with me confirmed that. As a woman who travels alone for business and as a Platinum Bonvoy member I stay at Marriott properties because I believe that there are policies in place that will provide for my security...my experience at your property failed in that regard. Essentially people were allowed into a room that I had booked without my consent. Now of course these were friends of mine and it was all harmless but the failure to adhere to that security policy could have turned dangerous very easily.

Then once we got into our room the toilet did not work....an engineer came up promptly and we were just dropping our bags off so he returned to do the repair after we left but how could the room be rented out with a broken toilet?? I would think housekeeping would have communicated that information after they cleaned the room??

Sadly my impression from the visit is that standards are not being met and there is a need for more accountability on each individual's part working on the property and I believe that would be your responsibility to address as the General Manager.

I have stayed at your property several times over the years as I have family in the area (and in fact half of my wedding guests stayed at your Westin many years ago) but I am reluctant to return after this experience. There are obviously many other Marriott properties in the area and sadly I feel compelled to try them next time.

I am happy to speak on the phone to elaborate further if you would like.

Lauren Cahill

Good morning Ms. Cahill, We sincerely apololgize for the dissappointing experience. We assure you any practice related to guest security is taken very seriously. Certainly any breach in the standard will be addressed with the associate involved. We will be using this experience as an opportunity to reiterate the importance of following secutiry guidelines, as outlined by the Marriott brand, to ensure this situation does not occur again. Regarding the condition of the room, we will certainly ensure your experience is brought to the attention of our chief engineer and housekeeping manager. Thank you very kindly for taking the time to share your experience with us. Sincerely, Chris Fries

Stayed for a night at the Westin and was surprisingly disappointed. The toilet in my room made a high-pitched whine when flushed that was quite loud and obvious. Simple to fix, no doubt (replace the toilet). To top it off, the toilet seat had an odd film over it that was peeling and had a yellow tinge to it (not a good look for a toilet seat). I literally thought the seat had not been cleaned and tried to wipe it off, but it is apparently permanent. And finally, one of the towels had brown stains on it.

I get that not every room in a hotel can be perfect, but properly working toilets and bathroom cleanliness are table stakes for me.

This hotel has apparently been recently renovated and has very sleek, very modern décor. If this is what is most important to you, stop reading now because this hotel is visually very upscale and current.

But for those who want to know about their customer service…. Made a reservation online but then called the hotel directly to request a handicap accessible room. I was told no problem and received a revised confirmation with this room type noted. When I checked in, I asked if we could use our key card to enter the door to the hotel that was the shortest distance from the handicap parking and, once inside, to the hotel’s elevators, specifically mentioning the handicap accessibility advantage. Was informed that there was no entry through this door. We would have to use the main entrance, a significantly longer walk from parking and to the elevators for someone with mobility difficulties. We were allowed, after I asked, to stay parked by the main entrance so that my partner would not need to do the longer walk to that point from the parking area.

When we entered the elevator, we found a big sign for various hotel facilities on the 1st through higher floors, but the elevator doesn’t have a 1st floor button, only a ground floor button and then 2nd, etc.. Not a big problem for us, but for others, especially foreign visitors who are used to having BOTH a ground and 1st floor in a building, it certainly may be confusing. The communication lapses continued as we exited the elevator. We immediately saw signage with directions to SOME of the rooms on the 3rd floor, but not including room 333. Eventually, we located the room, but the process would have been so much faster and easier had there been signs for this block of rooms similar to the one for the others. Of course, when we finally walked into room 333 ....it was not handicap accessible. Yes, I could have gone back to the front desk to get the correct room and gathered our things and had my partner walk to where ever the new room was located, but at that point, I decided not to since we were only there one night.

So my partner wanted to use the swimming pool and headed there after I left to walk around Princeton. He was stopped by the pool entrance and told he needed a reservation and had to go back to the front desk to get one. There was no signage at the pool entrance nor at the front desk regarding this requirement (there was a sign about the fitness center, but not the pool), and no mention of this requirement was made when I specifically asked for confirmation of the pool hours for that day when checking in. The hotel employee could have offered to call or go to the front desk to do this for my partner but that didn’t happen. My partner was tired and gave up and just went back to the room.

I stayed at this hotel last night with my sister and everything about my stay was unpleasant. I was really looking forward to this trip, my first since December 2019.

I’ve been extremely careful throughout the pandemic but I selected this hotel because of the safety protocols they said they enforced.

Despite signs in the lobby and throughout the hotel stating that masks would be required in all public places in the hotel, the staff did not enforce this policy. There was one large group gathering completely maskless in the lobby. When I commented to the front desk, I was told that they were just posing for photos. This happened throughout our stay and every time I said something to staff, I was told we can’t enforce the policy and the sales team doesn’t want me bothering them.

This is absolutely unacceptable and so very disturbing. All of this on top of the quality of the room. Threadbare sheets with holes, stains on the comforter, shower that lacked any water pressure, and a leaking toilet.

Marriott, this hotel is so far below your standards. Your executive team needs to do an on-site visit and remediate these problems. You are in violation of CDC guidelines and my next stop will be to contact them. This was a long awaited vacation, but it was such a disappointment when I was constantly on guard due to people who refused to wear masks.

We have traveled before this pandemic and this hotel was the prime location to get around Princeton. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this property has lost much of its appeal. As others have said, there is no service so no coffee, breakfast, anything. The pool and fitness centers were closed. You have use your car for just a cup of coffee. The Salt Creek Grille was a saving grace for food but if we had known no services we might have picked another venue. There are limited staff to assist and we had a noisy toilet. Choose wisely when coming to this area.

We were to be upgraded to a suite and they sent us to a room that they said was an upgrade. Not so, so we wanted out of that and then asked for a room near the elevator and the suite is located at the end of a huge hall and of course no bellman to help with luggage. The commode did not fill properly and asked twice for a plumber and never appeared. We stayed two nights and very, very disappointed with the hotel's service. We were told breakfast was until 10:30 by staff and not so and they finally gave us breakfast but only after complaining their staff did not know times.
I am Titanium at Marriott Properties and will only stay in a "real" Marriott in the
future.
