Chose Ocean View Resort as our first camping experience in our new trailer. The amenities is what lured us in as we’re new campers in COVID times while still trying to provide some normalcy for our toddlers. We came with family and was able to get 3 sites side by side in Greenbriar, a few sites away from the fishing pond. With 4 toddlers, they loved watching the tram go by at night but also riding around and “sightseeing”. The operators wiped after each round trip and had families sit every other row. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t perfect for the pool and lake but we still went for a little bit. The kids loved the pirate ship! It was cold but at least the pool was warm so we ended up in there instead. The store within the gates has everything you need. We also visited the store right outside the campground. I wish we stayed longer and am hoping we’ll be able to come back again before the end of the season! While we’re still trying to find other campgrounds to visit, I’m afraid we’ve set the bar high starting out at OVR!

Starting with the positive; the lake is superb, nice pool area, good list of available amenities (we didn't use any during this visit) can't comment on store, arcade or other things offered. The nicest, cleanest bathrooms ever seen in a campground! Very impressive showers, hot water with good pressure, tile floors, flushing toilets. I stopped to look at several and all kept very clean. Quiet mornings & evenings. We camped in large RV in far, rear Greenbrier section. Now the negatives, and reasons we will not return again. 1. It is CROWDED. The RV spots are ridiculously close together, you barely have enough room for your one vehicle, picnic table and fire ring. Let alone any privacy. You are all thrown in together, RV's, trailers, cabins, renters, seasonal....felt like we were intruding. Drove around the entire campground and all looked the same. The only spots that looked somewhat more spacious where the large pull-through sites. 2. The customer service from camp employees leaves one feeling unwelcomed. To put it bluntly, they are just plain rude. In several occasions we were stared at (like if doing something wrong) The interaction with main gate security was by far the worst. You are given gate entry cards for 2 registered vehicles. There is 24 hour security here so even with the card there is someone there to grant entry and assist if needed. Within the 3 days we were there, we were never asked any questions upon entering or leaving. We simply swiped the card, greeted security and drove on. Until our last evening there... when my 17 yr. old son, a registered driver on their check-in form, drove to main gate to drop my sister off (one of 2 adults on our reservation). Her husband was waiting for her outside the main gate in parking lot. She unloaded her luggage from our vehicle into theirs and resumed to leave. Until she heard the security guard yelling at my son and not allowing him re-entry. They now, all of a sudden questioned my niece (one of 2 children on our reservation). They would not allow them in without verifying who she was. However, there was no way to verify because you never have to provide your children's name! And children, by their policy is anyone under 21 yrs old. You are only asked to provide the name of drivers for 2 registered vehicles. My son asked them to call me with any questions because he was unsure. They refused to call me by saying they didn't have my number. How do you pull up a reservation to verify information but don't have the phone number?! My son provided them with her name, they "looked it up" and denied entry because her name was not listed. Mind you, we have already been in and out several times over the course of the weekend. At this point another security guard, his name is Bill, instructed my son by yelling at him to pull over outside the gate. This made my child feel threatened and very uncomfortable. He got out of his vehicle and again asked them to call me, as to which they refused and told my son to call me instead. There was some yelling back and forth at this point...considering the uncomfortable position everyone was put in. When I arrived at gate the female guard was calm enough to explain to me that the reason they weren't letting them in was due to the "suspicious activity" in the parking lot!!!!! We never asked or attempted to let anyone else in, we were simply dropping my sister off to her husband outside the gate. They never once approached her husband while he was waiting in lot. They never questioned anything other than who my niece was in my sons car! I then knocked on security booth door to speak to Bill about the situation. Upon first knock he looked up at me and plain ignored me. Upon second knock he came to the door. I asked for his name and told him we would be filing a complaint the next morning. He asked why and tried explaining himself, but I stopped him. It was late and I wasn't going to waste time and energy with this man who clearly didn't care about us as guests and the situation HE CREATED. I am very disappointed and in awe with the way this was handled. Whatever their reasons were, the first thing that should have taken place was a phone call to the adult who held the reservation. My husband stopped at main office upon our departure and spoke to a manager, Doug T. AND WHEN YOU THINK IT COULDN'T GET WORSE He took no responsibility for the guards behavior, no apology...his reason being that my son yelled and cursed back at them. Not taking accountability for the threatening position they put our 17 year old in, screaming at him to pull over. Denying the fact that our children's name were never asked to be provided upon making the reservation ( I have pictures of our reservation, confirmation and check-in info to confirm this). The manager Doug T even went as far as to say he would not apologize for the guards behavior because he knew Bill, the guard did not have the best customer service and demeanor! And because another camper complained over the yelling. We understand they were simply trying to do their job as security. We are not by any means supporting our sons actions when he yelled back at them. But, management should take responsibility and offer an apology for their lack of professionalism and poor decisions in handling the situation. I cannot compare the behavior of a frightened 17 year old to 2 grown adults who should know better. Needless to say, after all that we left feeling very unwelcomed, threatened and discriminated upon. Maybe that was their intent? If so it worked, we will never return. There are plenty of other campgrounds in the area to chose from who value every single one of their guests. I expected more from them, the largest campground in NJ, almost 1200 camping spots! They label themselves as a family friendly resort....I sadly disagree. So, go if you dare....but my family and I value service over clean bathrooms and a pretty lake.

From reservations to check out, everything was simple, comfortable and easy! Well laid out campground with many seasonal and transient campsites and plenty of restrooms, shower houses and laundry facilities. Everywhere was clean, well maintained and modern. The camp store has just about anything you could need with an RV supplies store right out front of the entrance. The pool and splash pad were a huge bonus.
