We stayed in a suite apart from the high rise section. Ocean City is a dry town, so you have to buy wine, etc before you go over either of the bridges that take you to to OC. The suite had a very complete kitchen including a full size range, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. This was a great asset, because there weren't many places nearby to dine out nearby as it was off season. Guests need to know that going from the front desk to the suite with a luggage cart requires an uphill push up the outside ramp. The suite was very quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our group held a dinner in the Garden Room, and it was done very professionally. Unfortunately there was a wedding happening in the hotel in another ballroom, and the DJ had the bass cranked WAY up. It was a nuisance that should have been controlled, as it was felt throughout the hotel until quite late.…
We loved the history and nostalgia of Flanders. Our room, 907, was updated and very clean . The view of the city, bridge and bay from the 9th floor was outstanding! We slept very well in the king size bed and woke ready to enjoy the boardwalk each morning which was only steps away from the hotel. We were surprised by how quiet and smooth the elevator was. It was a lovely visit to Ocean City where we felt so carefree and safe, we will return and hopefully be able to get this same room.
Staff at desk stand offish. No curtains, just cheap shades. Stuck windows. Dirty air vents in room n restaurant. Back of chairs in restaurant showed months of not being looked at. Disgusting coffee maker, filthy in room. Upon checkout no one at desk as "how was the stay". Total lack of sufficient Handy Cap Parking.
I inherited some money from a friend and wanted to treat my family to a stay in the penthouse. Within minutes of arrival, it turned into a nightmare. First by being stuck in the elevator for 40 minutes on the top floor in 95 degree temperatures outside and no ventilation, with my 90 year old mom in a wheelchair and a bellhop. I went into a panic attack thinking we were going to die in there. Bad enough that the General Manager and Peter dismissed that experience. I then noticed that there is only one exit out of that unit and it’s beyond the elevator and kitchen area. The microwave vent fell on my brothers head, the dishwasher rolled out from underneath the counter, had to reset the garbage disposal, mattress pads and pillow covers were not on, vents covered in dust, washer very moldy, wheelchair lift not working to move mom to a handicap room, trash from other units left in the hallway for over 24 hours, some sort of bacteria growing in the pool. Peter told me “you chose to stay”, like there’s somewhere in OC in August to go without a reservation. I waited 60 years to walk in there and was so disappointed, I left crying and my family is mad at me. What a complete disaster 😢😡…
We have been staying at The Flanders for many years. The stays have never been ‘perfect’ but you can’t beat the location so we have continued to stay here. This year, we spent extra for a two-bed beach view. $3k for 5 nights. The view was beautiful but the hotel was NOT WORTH IT!!! Our littlest cut her entire leg on an old metal bed that had no bottom covering to protect this. The room smelled like garbage. The kitchenette was filthy. Old popcorn (from someone else) in the microwave and dirty dishes in the dishwasher. One set of dresser drawers had been left with someone else’s clothing in it and the other set was broken so the drawer physically fell out each time it was opened. The dresser in the kids room had a chain to connect it to the wall (for safety) but nobody had ever connected the chain to the wall. There was a big hole in the bathroom wall by the toilet and we weren’t able to sleep in because there were only blinds on a few windows (and no curtains) so as soon as sunrise hit, it was light as day in every room. We called the front desk and they fixed a couple of problems but it felt like a game of whack a mole, more and more problems kept happening. The pool is lovely and another big reason we stay here. However, we came to the pool after the beach one day (close to closing time) and the lifeguard was so annoyed that we arrived 15 minutes before close that he was on his phone ignoring us and very clearly annoyed by us being there. Our kids (and we) felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable! On our second to last day, the light in the pool broke so they closed the pool for over half an hour while a group of us sat and waited to be able to swim. If you are looking for a great location and pool and don’t care about anything else, this is your place. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a clean space, customer service and a positive hotel experience, DO NOT STAY HERE!!…
My wife and I wanted a quiet , pre-season weekend get away at the beach and to see friends in OCNJ. We opted for the historic Flanders Hotel as a a different adventure. The beach front sixth floor suite was beautiful , clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant served the best filet minion I’ve ever had and all the other meal selections there were tasty and well prepared. My wife got her boardwalk shopping done and I got to enjoy the sun and surf although it was far too cold to swim. Staff and accommodations were first rate and it was neat to spend a few days in a 1930 era hotel. Part of the charm was its ornate decor and going to the beach before the summer crowds was fun.
Comfortable and efficient hotel in Ocean City! Rooms are spacious and efficient. Restaurants serve decent food, service was good and an outstanding location. Off-season prices are fair. Clean hotel with some of the rooms updated.
We stayed in room 905 for the weekend of March 4th to March 7th for our son’s wedding at the Flanders. Rehearsal dinner, Wedding and Morning after breakfast were great, food was good, plentiful and the staff were friendly and spot on. If only the room lived up to the rest. Room was dirty and dusty - looked like it had been cleaned. Dust, smudges and fingerprints everywhere. Wallpaper on the ceiling was peeling off, patio door was swelled and hard to open, private elevator got stuck between floors and master bathroom has ceiling bulbs out. Next day the cold water handle came off faucet and we had no cold water in the master sink rest of the weekend. When you are paying the highest price in the hotel for the signature suite, you would not expect these issues! Had maintenance up twice to fix bulbs and try to fix sink and elevator. I would avoid room 905 - book room 902 right below it for a nicer room with better ocean view. The newlyweds had that room and it was so much nicer than our tired room.…
We stayed for the first time ever at The Flanders over Christmas 2021. I had been raised in Ocean City, so I always loved the hotel, but never stayed there. We were happily surprised. We expected things to be "dated" in a 100-year old hotel, but our 9th floor suite was beautiful: cheerful, clean, and decorated with many thoughtful touches. It really seemed like we were visiting someone's home. The hotel was decorated for Christmas, and it was beautiful. Emily's Restaurant was open - even though we were the only ones there - and they were polite and food was delicious. We really enjoyed our time at The Flanders. We know that the off-season rates are very reasonable, and we expect that in-season is a different story, but it was really worth it.
We loved this old elegant hotel! Went for my 65the Birthday. We had a room on the 2nd or 4th floor, I cant remember which LOL! Lovely....beautiful view of the ocean and the Boardwalk. The room was basically a little apartment with a mini kitchen, small living room and bedroom. Loved it! The lobby is beautiful as well. We had breakfast @ Emily's Restaurant and got the history of the hotel from the waitress. Very happy with this Historic Hotel !
