We recently had a passing in the family which means we will have to cancel our trip to Ocean City. I called the hotel to cancel the reservation. I told them the reason why and stated that I would like to reschedule for another date this season. I was not looking for a refund. I just wanted to reschedule my weekend. The Woman on the phone said "No, if you cancel you will be charged your first nights stay" I said that I would really like to reschedule to another weekend and she said "No, I can't do that" There was no empathy, and certainly no willingness to work with a family that just experienced a loss and was not looking for a refund. The woman was more interested in charging me my first nights stay (around $300) then she was in customer service or keeping my business. Because of my experience I an writing this review to let others know that its probably a better idea to book with a hotel in Ocean city that has a better cancelation policy and cares more about providing better customer service.

This was our first time in Ocean City NJ (we usually go to Ocean City MD). We found Coral Sands online and given its proximity to the Boardwalk and beach, felt like it would work for the 3 nights we were there. Overall we had a decent time as we were able to enjoy being so close to everything and make memories with the kids. Some good places to eat include OC Surf Cafe, Hula Restaurant, Charlies Seaside Grille. The haunted mini golf was a-lot of fun and for $40 for about an hour for the entire family, well worth it. If you want to check out rides, go to Castaway Cove rather than the one further north - much more bang for your buck. My honest and candid review is below. Pros: * We were able to check in early around noon which was great - Greta at the front desk is very nice and helpful *You can receive two beach passes for a $50 refundable cash deposit - otherwise it is $5 per day for each adult (kids under 11 are free) *Our room (201) was in the corner (furthest away from the stairs however) right above the main office - there is a-lot of natural light that comes in from having two sets of windows and there is a public seating area outside. Depending on how you see it this could be good or bad but it was rarely used and provided for almost a private balcony area to hang out at night *The room itself was somewhat updated (painted, new vinyl flooring put down) and clean. The fridge worked great and kept things VERY cold. The AC worked great and kept the room very pleasant. *Convenient to all - off the main road in (9th street). Easy walk to ACME Supermarket, TD Bank, Boardwalk, Restaurants etc. My girls (8 and 5) had a blast and we made many great memories. Cons: *Bathroom kind of small and not renovated. It looked like it was painted but you can still see the joint compound tape in places. The door is way too big for a bathroom - it is the size of an entry way door. Also one of the lamps did not work in the room. *WiFi not good at all - which is odd because we were above the main office where I assume the main router is. *The rooms are non-smoking but I could not believe the amount of smokers in general sitting outside on the patio areas or sitting areas. They were all very respectful and cognizant of people around them, so no issues there. *There are issues with the house cleaning service. A sign on the back of the door said no house cleaning service. I asked Greta and she said it was old and to just use the door knob hanger. So we got there Friday - Saturday morning put it out and got back around 3:30PM and the room was not done. Told Greta and she had someone come in for us - swept, did garbage etc. On Sunday, we went out again, left the hanger out there, came back around 3:30 and again the room was not done. Given we were to leave the next day, did not want to make a stink, but this was the sole major issue of the trip. Not sure if the cleaning people didn't see it or something, but surely a frustration. * Honestly a little pricey but we did book later in the game.

We stayed one night July 2022. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location is great--a short walk to the boardwalk and beach! The front desk staff was nice, helpful, and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Coral Sands to others. We hope to stay here again.

We spent 10 days here (just checked out this morning). The hotel is a block from the beach and boardwalk (entrance where Manco Manco pizza is). My husband and I came with our dog. I felt very comfortable leaving the dog here alone (this was an important criteria). Also the rooms are very clean, and they practice good covid cleaning requirements. Most hotels that allow dogs always smell like dogs, but the room we stayed in here did not. Parking was a little tricky but there is an overflow parking across the street. In short, it’s not a “luxurious” motel, but it is simple, clean, and great location. We will stay here again next year!

I stayed here may 2021 on the first floor room two double beds. the door had a large gap at the bottom of the door so sand and wind blew in the room There was a hole in the wall next to the air conditioner you could see outside and on the ceiling there were dark markings above the air-conditioner who knows what that was!And forget getting your car out of the very small parking lot maybe can fit ten cars. You can park up the road in the over flow lot and hike back to the motel. If you have more then one car it is $10.00 dollars a day to park here. The best part they are pet friendly so dogs bark in the middle of the night!

Stayed here last week of September. I originally was booked for another sister property that sat on the boardwalk but they decided to shut down early for the season, was offered this property instead off boardwalk/block back so a bit disappointed. Weather was beautiful still off-season. Hotel very quaint parking a nightmare, too compact and not enough space especially if someone doesnt know how to park. Check in was easy, front desk person kind. They did accomodate my request for first floor because I had a bike i didnt want to lug up stairs or keep on bike rack on car for safety reasons so that was nice however, they gave me a room right next to the utility room - cleaning supplies/maid space which was gross because they put trash bins and bags outside of my room. I dont recommend room 106. Walls were paper thin could hear everything next door and beds were hard could use updating. The bathrooms are newly finished they are beautiful however. Room did have fridge and microwave so there was no need to eat out all the time that was nice as well. I'd come back again for the price for sure.

This was our first stay in OC, and we were not very happy with our room. The girl who greeted us was very nice, but we had to ask for wash cloths and toilet paper on the first day. Also, the furniture was outdated, but the bathroom was remodeled, a plus, but the shower water was hard to regulate. When we walked in, there was no light switch on the wall at all, the bed not comfortable, the bathroom door would not shut, and the bathroom towel rack fell down. There was no hair dryer, no hangers, and the ocean view advertised was very poor and far away! The breakfast at the restaurant next door, though, Augie's, was awesome!

This hotel is only 2 blocks from the Boardwalk and Beach. You can actually see the Boardwalk from the hotel! Basic but clean, Friendly staff that are following the COVID restrictions and a wonderful delicious restaurant Archie’s on premises for outdoor dining for breakfast and lunch!😄

Not a family place to stay, A group of kids going in and out all night long all you hear is the doors slamming constantly. The room is like out of the 70’s and I think the spring beds are about that old, hole in the floor, Mouse trap behind nightstand. Paid for 3 days left after 2, had enough.

Enjoyed our one night stay. Staff was friendly and receptive to our needs. "Steven " was very helpful in responding to our questions and giving us suggestions. We were on the beach when he called to tell us our room was ready. Our Kitchenette Room #205, (two double and one single bed) was very nice. Bathroom as well. (excluding shower) A very nice "surprise" to see that the single bed-(room), had it's on TV and Air Conditioner. Location, is a very short walking distance to the boardwalk and beach. "Tight", Parking in the Main Courtyard. Extra "off property" parking, a quarter, of a block around the corner. Shower too small for the "Big and Tall". My husband complained about hitting his head on the shower shelf. (need to place shelf higher Up) A couple of kitchen chairs needed the "leg" screws tighten. (a quick fix, with a Phillips Screw Driver)
