Detailed Reviews
Short but sweet stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was bigger than it appeared online. While outside the main New Brunswick area, there is bus stop at the top of the inn's parking lot to allow easy access into town, otherwise it is about a 25 minute walk.
The room had a surprising amount of amenities: mini-fridge with separate freezer section, microwave, iron and ironing board, lots of extra bedding and towels, and plenty of toiletries.

A friend and I stayed over for a girl's weekend and couldn't have been more pleased. The check-in was quick and easy and our room was spotless. Free parking was an added bonus. The beds were very comfortable and though we knew there were others staying on our floor, it was very quiet. If you are looking for luxury amenities go elsewhere. If you are looking for value - then this is your place as it was at least 100 less expensive than the two hotels in town. In addition to walking paths outdoors, there is a game room as well as a book room. We will absolutely be back.

I can't tell you how happy this review makes me. We are not fancy, nor do we promise to me. We are a comfortable, welcoming place to rest your head - and we're easy on the wallet too. So happy to hear you will be returning.

The Inn was conveniently located to the recital hall and to the main campus.
The staff were very helpful.
The rooms were clean and very well appointed.
The location of the facility to local restaurants and attractions was one of the main reasons we chose to stay .

Inexpensive Inn on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus. Renovated dormitory has 2 full size bed units and a few queen bed units. Everything rather basic, but the price, the location and the free parking at a good location on campus is a plus. Small television with basic channels, mini fridge and microwave in room. Wifi free, but limited bandwidth depending upon hour of use and others in hotel. Bucket of ice available upon request. Water pressure in shower just okay, but hot at least.
Pod coffee maker in room, plus Keurig maker in the lobby ($2/pod), but otherwise no breakfast. Little store connected to registration sells some drinks, amenities, snack and some frozen food. Hotel offers list of restaurants in area that make delivery, and you can always leave your car in the lot and take a car service.

Thank you so much for your detailed review! Curious to know more about the limited bandwidth you experienced. We just had a major upgrade, so that should not have been the case. We are relatively no frills. Our goal is to provide folks with a convenient, affordable place to rest. We hope we met your expectations.

My wife and I booked an overnight here due to it’s proximity to the State Theatre. Check in was easy and the attendant was friendly however that is the only positive comments I can make about our stay. The room looked like a former dorm room with the furniture and bathroom in serious need of an overhaul.
After an evening out we returned to find bugs not in just one bed but in BOTH. We would have spoken to the evening attendant however there is NO ONE on the premises after 11pm. They were not due back until approximately 6am. Never have I ever encountered a hotel that does not have staff on duty 24/7. My wife and I were left with no other choice than to pack our bags and leave at 1:30 am.
As a Rutgers Alumi I am disappointed in the quality of this location. While we will certainly visit the area again, we will never stay here or recommend this establishment.

We deeply apologize about your experience. We are a small Inn and operate as such. We staff on premises 24/7, but on-call between the hours of 11p and 7a. As a Alum, you can understand the limitations of being a university owned property. We truly do what is in our power to provide a comfortable, convenient place for folks to rest. We are self supporting and receive no funding from Rutgers. We are not a converted dorm. But we were not built to be a hotel. The building was constructed to serve as a residential facility for adult continuing education in the 60s. We're morphed into an Inn. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, affordable place for folks to rest. We know we are not the perfect choice for every traveler. Once we received your info card, we immediately contacted our pest management company. They found no bugs, but we are taking that room out of service and treating anyway. This is a problem hotels all around the world deal with. We have preventative measures at our hotel to try to catch these situations before they impact a guest. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience. Please check your email for a follow up communication.

I am a man who is comfortable by and with myself. The University Inn is my favorite place to stay on my occasional sojourns in New Brunswick, because it leaves me to be that kind of alone. I'm taken care of, but I'm not "bothered." I appreciate the calm ease of the place and staff.

Traveled to Rutgers for my sons baseball showcase. Chose this hotel based off the available photos, reviews / stars, location to my event, and price. Had a wonderful 2 night stay, and would absolutely stay there again if we come back. The A/C needs to be updated, or ceiling fans added to help circulate the air better within the room. No complaints beyond that. We don't require much (breakfast, pools, etc.), so this hotel was a great choice for us and our need.

If you are looking for an upscale experience or luxurious stay, this is not the place. If you are simply seeking a nice, quiet place to sleep, then it’s just the ticket. Definitely nothing fancy here. Room and bath are a bit cramped but the bedding was very comfortable.Bathroom could definitely use an upgrade (features an old-fashioned noisy dorm-style toilet). But we just wanted a clean and comfortable sleep and The Rutgers University Inn fit the bill.

I am a repeat customer. This location is close to Rutgers campuses. This is a very comfortable and affordable place to stay wen I am visiting the area. Because of the cost, I frequently choose to stay overnight and rest verses rushing back down the highway after and event or activity. Plus there is ample free parking on site.

It's in a lovely quiet area, ample parking, just where we needed to be on campus, but convenient to buses. Great staff, super clean rooms, very reasonable cancellation policy -- we ended up not needing our second night and were able to cancel the day prior for a full refund. This will be my go-to spot when visiting my son at Rutgers!
