I booked a trip where I was staying st four Mariott branded hotels. Each of these hotels prior to Covid would have available either a continental breakfast or eggs/pancakes/cereal etc. for their guests. I assumed this hotel would have either a grab and go breakfast or prepackaged items available. Absolutely not. No go bag or prepackaged items. They had coffee available but they were charging for the coffee, With all the money being saved on their regular breakfast offering, you would think they would be doing something for their guests. Each of the other hotels offered something. If the manager is saving a buck on one of their most visible amenities, where else are they cutting back. The bagel shop about a mile away was just great. IF you want a good deli sandwich, Harold's New York Deli is across the street, Next time the Courtyard in Lynhurst will not be my next stay over.…

I was very disappointed with the sales staff at the Courtyard Lyndhurst Meadowlands. We had reserved a specific room for our wedding after-party nearly a year prior to our event. Just a few weeks prior to the event, the sales staff (Darlene and Tegan) informed us that the room was no longer available as it was being rented out to another guest instead who needed the room for a long-term rental and who would be storing equipment overnight. The sales staff effectively cancelled our prior reservation so that it could profit from a longer-term rental. Shameful management. We were offered another room, but one that was not conducive to hosting our event. When I raised this issue with the sales staff, I was personally blamed for not letting the staff know in advance that I would not be agreeable to switching rooms. I have never heard of a need to make this type of representation. This was an error by the sales staff, and they should have taken responsibility. The Renaissance, just across the street, provided vastly superior service and has a much nicer looking atmosphere. They accommodated our last minute reschedule for our after-party. About 60 rooms of my wedding guests opted to cancel their reservation at the Courtyard and switch to the Renaissance, and all had phenomenal experiences. I would recommend the Renaissance, and not the Courtyard, to any people looking to host an event.…
We had a very pleasant stay at Courtyard. We had opted for the package with breakfast and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the breakfast. We could order from a menu and the breakfast alone makes the stay worth it. The rooms were very clean and the service was great. It was a great trip.
I had a reservation at the Marriott Courtyard in Lyndhurst. NJ from 12/10 through 12/13. 1) I received an email prior to the stay suggesting I use my rewards suite nights. With it being at the then end of the year, it seemed like a good idea. I requested and was granted a suite. When I actually arrived at the hotel I was told the hotel has no suites, so I was given a king room. No free drink coupon for the error or anything. 2) Prior to my arrival I received notification that mobile key was available and would I like it? I have been waiting for this feature as Hilton has had it for years. When I arrived my app said check back later as the key was not yet available. I had stated my check in time would be 5pm and it was now 5:30. This seemed odd, so I went to the front desk and was told they do not activate the key, unless they know the person, and all others have to check in at the front desk. This is idiotic. Who would they know? I have stayed at this hotel 10 times for 30 nights over the past 15 months. As far as Marriott goes I have stayed over 1,000 over 14 years. Who would they know, someone who lives at the hotel? The desk person then said they would activate the mobile key, again for what purpose I already was at the front desk. Ironically, it didn’t work so she had to give me a regular card key anyway. She advised that they had only added mobile key in the past month so they were still working out the bugs. I am dumbfounded that the process is they added mobile key, but you still have to go to the front desk. What are you thinking? 3) I get to the room and see a soap dish in the room with nothing in it, no soap, no lotion etc… The shower had the large push down type of containers that are locked in position in the shower for soap, shampoo, and conditioner and I thought they must have forgot for the sink so I would reach into the shower for them. The next night still no soap. I checked at the desk this morning and was advised they stopped putting soap by the sink as you can just use what is attached to the shower wall. I stated, I didn’t realize the Courtyard brand was trying to compete with Motel 6 and see how cheap they could be. Marriott, are you trying to push loyal guests to the Hilton brand? Really, save $0.15 on a tiny bar of soap? What other short cuts are being made that guests don’t readily see?…
