Firstly, while I accept the airport transfer bus to the hotel was ten minutes late, I was really flabbergasted when the driver walked off leaving me and my luggage locked in the bus as he went into the lobby - I was genuinely frightened for a few moments. He had simply walked off into the hotel, upon arriving, and forgotten I was there. Secondly, when contacting the hotel here on their direct line I confirmed with the member of staff here that they could not offer an early check in without a fee before 12, so I organised to arrive to the hotel for close to this time and made the booking, as I needed somewhere that wouldn't charge an exorbitant early check in fee and had the airport shuttle bus. When I checked in just moments ago, this morning, I was told in a blaze manner by my receptionist that nobody could have possibly told me this, yet I certainly had been told this and I kept a record to show when the call was made. I am disappointed to learn I have now been charged an extra 40 USD plus tax on the already high price of a hotel, despite receiving contradictory information from the hotel. This certainly gives a poor impression. When I contacted the Holiday Inn office the hotel manager emailed me only to essentially confirm that the hotel receptionist who had checked me in, had in fact issued the wrong information regarding the check in policy. In terms of check in policy the hotel is an omnishambles in how they train staff, each staff member having different interpretations of policy. I simply could have waited an hour and saved myself this exorbitant check in fee. The way I was spoken to by the receptionist and the complaint handled by the hotel manager was poor; in fact, there was as you can see a lot of backtracking. Go with a hotel brand like Marriot or Hilton that takes responsibility.…
Front desk people were nice, room was clean. The shuttle was quick and an easy way to get to and from the airport. The thing I did not like was that fact that the hallways all smelled like weed. The smell kept coming in to my room. I guess it beats cigarette smell.
Our stay started horrible with the shuttle; it never came after a long walk and when we called the person at the front desk said he/she didn’t know where the drver was. This was a main reason we chose this hotel. When we arrived tired at 10:30 pm the receptionist was lukewarm nice but not the usual kind approach you get from reception. We went into the room, there was no soap in the bathroom. We called but the phone wasn’t working, went to the desk we were told to use the shower gel. Avoid this hotel!
I liked the reception guy - he was great, easy going and welcoming. He gave me some recommendations where to get food late evening. Disliked · I dont usually write reviews, but I had to in case of this hotel. I travelled with a family of five. I got two rooms. The rooms were smelly and not great looking. The lobby - shoes sticking to the floor, dirty. The hotel was supposedly remodeled, but it did look dirty. Out of two elevators, one was working but was super slow, the other was not working at all. If you wanted to go quickly and not wait 5-10 min for the elevator, the stairs were your friend. There WAS NO outlet to charge your phone close to the bed. None. The noise was the least of my concerns, but the rooms are noisy, no good sound insulation. The glorified 'Awesome breakfast' - there was a huge line and NOTHING to eat on the trays. Empty trays and nothing on them. Either the staff was not able to catch up bringing the food, or the hotel was 'relaxed' and did not care. I ended grabbing a few small muffins as it was all that was left. Do yourself a favor and go to the nearest Starbucks, skip this joke. The area - it is Elizabeth, NJ, not a good part of town. You can't walk anywhere from the hotel on foot. Not that there was anywhere to go. Summarizing - for close 200USD a room you get a hotel that is one star/cheap motel quality. I travel a lot and this one was definitely a disgrace to the Holiday Inn brand. How important this is - I just booked a hotel today for a few days and made sure it was not a Holiday Inn.…
Stayed two nights at this property. Had reservation but waited in line for over an hour to check in. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine. property was in relatively good shape outside and good shape inside.
Horrible customer service. The gentleman was so rude them people in the hallway smoking weed and being loud. Couldn't get no sleep it more like a motel. Not a hotel. Very disappointed in my experience
Clean and comfy room. Checkin was stressful as the young lady told me that I didn’t have a reservation. Luckily, I had proof of my reservation and payment. Then, she was magically able to find my reservation. Weird. Phone started beeping in the very early morning hours, waking me up two hours earlier than I wanted to. Other than these two things, it was a pleasant stay.
Great hotel, close to the airport. hotel and room was very clean. Woman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. Some limitations due to covid such as no restaurant but they had a list of local places that delivered. and they offered complimentary drinks and breakfast.
I have lived here for over a month at a time. This place is beyond immaculate but exudes excellent customerservice and quality hospitality. EXCELLENCE. STAFF, CLEAN ROOMS, AND AMENITIES. I love it here. Im always greeted, my needs are met, management is great and so is the front desk. I literally leave my cares at the door, come in and have a great stay. 5 stars all the way.
Checked into Hampton Inn near EWR airport 9/110/20 Thur 340 PM. Was using points for a 1-night stay - with $60 more to extend until 5 PM (as I have an int'l flight at 8 PM). At 12:45 PM on 9/11/20 Fri "Annie" came and said I have to pay for a second night - to stay until 5 PM. They don't have a structure where I can pay $60 for a few extra hours. And I have to pay right away - I must go down immediately (even though they have my credit card on file). When I went down she saw that her colleague had charged me $60 on 9/10. And perhaps because she saw that I was indignant she said - it'll be $30 more. Appalling that they didn't honor their commitment and make it up as they go along - and drag a guest (I've stayed in Hilton Hotels for thousands of nights over 30+ years) out to "pay right away".…
