Clean and updated - Friendly staff and understanding management. We had several requests and they were granted with a smile. If you need anything ask the guys in the front they surely know it all. We had questions about the city, parking, wifi, maps, directions, bus routes, times, they told us which websites to go to, how to get the info, how much things cost, etc/ they know it all.
The initial room was DISGUSTINGLY FILTHYand the refrigerator was not working properly. Second room just as FILTHY!!!! Not given another opportunity to change rooms Was promised housekeeping would arrive to rectify the issues. It never happened! Each time I returned from work I found the room with the exact same issues. Front desk was of no assistance. On last night of stay Front Desk employee told me I could come downstairs and get clean sheets to put on the bed. The sheets that were on the bed were stained with bodily fluid and filled with holes. The bedskirt had a large red stain. There was a dead bug under the pillow. The balcony was covered in bird feces. The bathroom had no heat. The chair apolstery had a disgusting stains, some of which appeared to be of sexual activity origin. The bed table lampshade was severely stained. I took photos of everything!!!!! With all of these major issues, the owner sent word to the Front Desk Mgr. Taylor to offer me a 15% refund on my stay! 15% is equivalent to a spit in the face! Sadly, I had not checked reviews of the hotel prior to booking. Over the years I have stayed at several Choice Hotels and only once had issues with the condition of my room and the Manager immediately refunded me for the horrible experience. This hotel in Edgewater is completely unacceptable! I see there are good and even gleaming reviews from many guests so apparently there is a lot of inconsistency in the quality of housekeeping and staff. The breakfast offerings were abysmal!!!! Bargain basement pastries that were stale. No prepared oatmeal. Given packets that I suppose guests are supposed to microwave. Overripe brown bananas. Couldn't even get a cup of decaf coffee because the cannister was broken. Coomon sense would say to use one of the other cannisters to allow decaf drinking guests the same opportunity for coffee! I had to go out and buy breakfast items! Extremely low class establishment primarily staffed with low class employee service. Spare yourself the stress and uncomfortability by booking elsewhere. There is a Hilton within close proximity. I would think better accomodations can be found there. Best wishes to all for safe and enjoyable travels!…
Are you kidding. I am a 67 yr old prof female. I needed a room for 1 night. My drivers license and all my credit cards have the same last name but 2 letters in my first name are different because of my prof. They refused to rent to me. I am a bonvoy member and an ihg member. This dump in edgewater nj refused. They need new management
Small Comfort Inn tucked away in shopping strip mall area right on the Hudson River overlooking NYC. Very clean. Helpful very pleasant staff. Back area has a small deck you can sit out at & watch the action on the River & riverwalk. Feels very safe..
I took my 21 and 16 year old sons to New York City, and since we didn’t want to break the bank, we decided to stay across the Hudson River in NJ. The Comfort Inn is reasonably priced, right on the Hudson, and easy access to the ferry to Manhattan. The view of the New York City skyline is incredible, especially at night. There is a beautiful riverside walkway that takes you right to the Edgewater ferry landing and the ferry ride was a very pleasant experience in the mornings into Manhattan and very relaxing for the trip back to Edgewater in the evening after a long day of walking. The hotel room was just a regular room, but was clean, had a mini fridge, microwave, single cup coffee maker, and a safe. Although we didn’t take advantage of it, there is also breakfast served by the lobby in the morning. It’s my understanding that the bus into Manhattan stops very close to the hotel also, even though we enjoyed the ferry everyday, but the bus is a more economical choice. The surrounding area is nice and there is food and shopping within walking distance. This is a great option for those that want to visit New York, but don’t want to spend a ton of money. Beware though, New Jersey traffic is crazy and can be a bit rude and we had unexpected toll booths that popped up on our trip in. That part was a bit stressful for a small town mom. 😉 (A toll-free drive is possible, as we accomplished that on our trip out of New Jersey)…
