I could write an essay. So I will. We checked in at the Econo Lodge Meadowlands and asked for a "late checkout" (12pm instead of 11am). It was my girlfriend's birthday, so she wanted to wake up and use the jacuzzi while I worked until noon. We were told that this "would not be a problem at all." We'll get back to this. We tried filling up the jacuzzi (the ONLY reason we splurged and got this room for her birthday...) and the water was ICE cold. The sink water was decently warm, while the shower water was also ICE cold... so we figured we'd wait it out a little bit. We tried again 30-45 mins later... still completely cold. We tried calling the front desk, but our room phone wasn't getting a dial tone... Instead, we had to walk outside in the rain to go to the front desk to ask the the one employee about this... He ensured us that he had literally "just reset" the boiler and it should be working again. We went back to the room and still had no hot water. We're reasonable people, so we waited it out. After another hour (I have no clue what time it was at night at this point... and all we wanted to do was relax and enjoy the jacuzzi together), we called the front desk (from our cell phones) and the employee actually HUNG UP on my girlfriend. We were so frustrated at this point... We tried waiting again. At this point, it was *almost* comical... 30 minutes later, we hear a LOUD banging on our door... I put on a mask to go answer the door, and as soon as I opened it, the one hotel employee barged in (we weren't fully clothed... it was late at night) and immediately went over to the jacuzzi and turned on the water. It's as if he didn't believe us! He tried letting it run for 15 mins. Then, he tried the shower for 10 more mins before storming out. After another 45ish minutes, we eventually got water that was "warm enough" to use the tub. But, we wasted an ENTIRE night on this... Then, in the morning, we figured we'd use the jacuzzi again (as mentioned earlier). And, as mentioned earlier, we were promised a 12pm checkout... Well, at 11:15am (while we were in the jacuzzi), we heard a LOUD banging on the door! I jumped out of the tub to open it (didn't want anyone coming in the room while we were taking a bath!), and by the time I opened the door, no one was there... Then, our room phone rang... Yes, the same room phone that was completely broken the night before... We answered the phone, and no one was there... This was a night out of a horror movie. I need my money back. Or a free night. Or something... Because this was insane. I've never had an experience like this. And, despite my fantastic writing ability, I've NEVER written a review for a hotel! I tried contacted the hotel multiple times through their website and email address before posting this... but, I couldn't get a response from them!…
Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice underground parking garage. Room was quiet and comfortable, except we didn’t have a table and chairs for eating breakfast. Food options for the free breakfast were limited, but it was enough. There is only one restaurant within walking distance, but hotel is right on the bus route with direct service to NYC. Overall, a better-than-average experience. I would stay there again.
This hotel looks and feels horrible. There are holes in the floor, and most importantly it looks like a prison. You are caged in like a animal. Overall horrible. The lighting is garbage. I even saw a handle of a door hanging off. Who would even want to go to this place?
All in all was ok just stayed a night plenty of parking you park underneath the hotel. Room clean and comfortable they do have a lot of rooms bathroom small modern but the annoying thing they say about bath tubs with jets but they don’t work. You do have a indoor area to sit but I did find that area very humid and stuffy. Breakfast continental you take back to your room to eat toast coffee juice. Within walking distance is Popeyes subway and redds.
We stayed with Friends in Carlstadt to visit New York City. The hotel has a good quality. The man on the Office Desk, Raj , has helpfull and has a lot of tips to travel to NY . He found a solution for baggage. In you have problems call him. Thanks
