Excellent place for Cape May. Old victorian updated for today. Rooms are spacious with great beds and the complimentary breakfast is outstanding. No pool on-site. but can use the facilities and beach at Congress Hall. Outstanding service. Will be back.
My husband and I stayed here for three nights. It was our first time visiting Cape May. The hotel is cute and comfortable with a very friendly and helpful staff. The front porch is the perfect place for pre- or post-dinner drinks with an extensive cocktail list and nice wine selection. You can't beat the location. It's an easy walk to everything. The beach service is convenient and worked well for us. There is the option to have breakfast delivered to your room, and the food options ranged from sweet to savory with juices and coffee. We would stay here again!
My husband really enjoyed the fillet he ordered and my scallops were delicious! I had one of the best Cosmos ever! Our server was attentive and pleasant! The Virginia is a great place to stay and has a wonderful restaurant.
This was our first post-pandemic trip, a girls' weekend to celebrate a miilestone birthday. This visit was fabulous from beginning to end. The concierge contacted me about every week starting a month from our arrival. The staff are professional to a fault, but also friendly and happy, like it is their life's goal to make you content and relaxed. The property is lovely and perfectly maintained and decorated well but not too fussy. It is wonderful to have a bathroom that is as nice as mine at home, with bath products you actually want to use! Breakfast is delicious and varied and served in your room, on the porch, or in the parlor. Coffee/tea and cookies are served at 2, and a "Social Sips" happy hour from 4-5 is wonderful to meet other guests. Dinner at the Ebbitt Room was delicious, with live music at the bar at one end. I have already planned to return with more friends in the fall! Bravo, Virginia!…
What a wonderful stay! The service we received (especially from Jack and Jarrett)was impeccable. They don't make them like this any more...LOL... We have been staying with Cape Resorts for well over 18 years now (Congress Hall, Star Inn, Star Inn condos, Beach Shack, The Red Cottage). This was the first time we stayed at The Virginia. I have to say it was our favorite stay. We did not realize that there was no elevator in the hotel and although the room we had on the third floor was AMAZING we appreciate the fact that they were able to swap it for a room on the first floor as my husband was not feeling well and was unable to handle the steps. Breakfast was delectable!!!In years past we enjoyed fruit, granola, toast and hard boiled eggs. This time around we were treated like royalty with the sweet and savory choices of quiche, avocado toast, overnight oats, and home made pastries. I felt so spoiled. I can not go back to cereal now that we are back home. Cape Resorts properties have always been special to us but the small details seem not to have been lost since Covid. In fact it was so nice to be able to get away from it all physically and mentally and forget about COVID if only for a brief moment. We appreciate the fact that The Ebbitt Room had seating that was separated from each other for additional protection and absolutely loved the stocking stuffer we found on Christmas Day. The chicken dish was so yummy probably the best chicken I have ever had. Make sure you try the Banoffee pie for dessert. History, charm, amenities, view, grounds everything is amazing. I cannot write enough positive things about this gem of a place. The only complaint is that it was too short of a stay. Do not miss out if you have an opportunity to stay here!…
We were looking for someplace to get away for the holiday weekend and a friend suggested Capy May. Since we had never been there, we relied on Trip Advisor reviews and selected the Virginia, mostly based on the proximity to the Washington Mall shopping district. Everything was lovely. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming and the Christmas decorations were spectacular. The continental breakfast was just right and the bar and lounge area were comfortable. Our only regret was the weather was a bit too cold to truly enjoy the lovely wrap around porch. Every single staff member we interacted with was pleasant and helpful, even when it was obvious they were super busy helping other guests. We will definitely be back!
We stayed here for two nights and had the most amazing time. The hotel is part of Congress Hall and we decided to take a chance. We were thrilled. Delicious breakfast served where you choose. Croissants, Muffins, Quiche etc. Gorgeous room with Beach Plum Farm Shampoos and Soaps. Lovely staff all around especially Jarrett (I think) he did so much and was super friendly and polite. Ebbitt room for drinks and an amazing piano player who attended Berklee College. We will definitely choose The Virginia Hotel again!
First, it is important to note that this great, historic hotel has no elevators. So, if you have a problem with stairs, book accordingly. We had a splendid visit. Our room was on the small side but totally comfortable, very clean and charming. Not a lot of Knickknacks thank goodness. Shower was excellent, bed very comfortable. Parking is complementary. Complementary but plentiful continental breakfast that you order the night before and is served outside on a beautiful porch - heated in cool weather. We were there Sunday-Tuesday. Would not hesitate to return.
We have always stayed in Congress Hall, but last October they were booked so we booked the Ocean View room in the pink cottage. We were so pleasantly surprised. From service to breakfast being delivered to your room, everything was 5 stars. We decided to book the exact same room again this year. Breakfast and coffee are not being delivered to the room anymore. They failed to mention that to us and we waited for our morning coffee for over an hour after our selected time. When I went to check at the hotel what had happened, I was informed “ oh we don’t do that any more” I can bring your tray to the porch. They brought a tray with cold coffee. It must have been sitting a while somewhere. No one around to get fresh coffee. The room has gum stuck to the carpet and used soap stuck to the floor of the shower! The next morning we went to the porch for our coffee and watched as they delivered trays to the red cottage. I asked about that, and was told they just don’t deliver to the pink and brown cottages any more. Funny thing is they still advertise delivering breakfast to the room Also breakfast has changed so much since last year. Last year there was fresh yogurt with granola, fresh fruit and baked goods, along with a nice glass of fresh juice This year we got under-baked mushy quiche, a tiny tiny glass of juice which was basically 2 sips. Next year we will not be back!!…
Stayed here for the second time over the July 4th holiday. Everything from the clean and well appointed room, to the extremely friendly and helpful staff, make the Virginia Hotel the place to stay in Cape May. Close to the beach and Washington Square it is the perfect location. Will be back in September!!
