Unbelievable service! Like unbelievably nice and great! Shout outs to Jarrett at the desk and everything else! Adorable Angel in maintenance, who saved the day when my tv was acting up and the fire wasn’t fired up enough! Preston, the cutest lil helper guy who was only on his second day but was trying so hard! Gosh, just everybody! Super kind, helpful and warm!
I mean it’s a beautiful, big, old drafty house, so the place isn’t perfect. But the food and service by far outweigh a few drafty spots, thin walls and a hard mattress.
Every single person we met here was like “Disney nice” including the other guests! Met some great folks, ate the most amazing mashed potatoes I’ve ever had and took waaay too many showers in the small but modern bathroom. Rain shower head thingy. Sooo much water! I was in heaven!
Stay here! Not cheap but eff it, worth every penny!
We have stayed at Congress Hall in the past, but this was the first time staying at the cottages. We stayed in the pink cottage, in a beautifully appointed King room with an ocean view. The cottages are a row of small houses across the street from the Virginia hotel. You can rent a room, or the entire cottage with the kitchen on the first floor. There are no elevators and to get to your room you climb a narrow winding staircase. The rooms start on the second floor, so if you have accessibility issues this cottage might not be for you They really did a nice job renovating the rooms, while keeping the charm of the house. The bedding is superb. They give you beautiful white robes. The bathroom has a beautiful glass door walk in shower. The toiletries are all from their spa and are so luxurious. The room we had on the second floor had so much light with all the ocean facing windows. It is a short walk to the beach and the mall where many of the shops and restaurants are
We visited during covid, and they had extra precautions and even supplied wipes and hand sanitizer in the room
Breakfast was brought to your room, or you could have it on the porch of the hotel across the street. You fill out a card and leave it on your door the night before, with what you would like, and what time you would like it. This is where I deducted 1 star. This is where they were lacking. The first day they delivered cold coffee. Unfortunately there is no phone in your room to call anyone. No front desk so to speak. I tried getting through to the hotel but that didn’t work. There is a Nespresso machine in the room without any directions on how to use it so not much luck with that. The next day we noted on the form to please make sure the coffee was hot. Well guess what? They delivered breakfast without any coffee!! Luckily we realized it and told the delivery person. He did apologize and went to get us a pot of coffee. He came back quickly with the coffee but we didnt realize they had also forgotten my yogurt, so we had to run after him again to tell him. He cane back with the yogurt shortly after. Not a good breakfast experience.
Here are some observations that would be nice. Instructions on how to use the Nespresso. A phone in the room so you can easily get in touch with someone in case there is a problem
These little issues would not deter us from staying here again. We enjoyed our little get away!
My wife and I have travelled a lot over many years, and our room at Virginia Hotel was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. The entire hotel exudes the Victorian charm that people come to Cape May to experience, as it is is full of cozy little nooks where guests can relax and enjoy privacy even at busy times.
The association with Congress Hall (just steps away) provides access to amenities unavailable at other small hotels, and the location is perfectly situated for access to the beach AND the main shopping/dining areas
Finally, we found the staff very friendly as well as efficient

We stayed in the garden apartment. Things we loved: convenience to the beach and town, use of pool at Congress Hall, EXTREMELY comfortable bed, great air-conditioning, washer/dryer outside our room, friendly staff at Virginia Hotel, chocolate chip cookies at the Virginia Hotel lobby. We did not love being on the first floor and kept the blinds shut, so it was a little dark- still it was great. We also had a parking spot just outside the cottage. Breakfast was not included since we had a kitchen but there are plenty of great places for breakfast nearby.

Virginia Hotel is an outstanding property with privileges at Congress Hall and Sandpiper. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful; great training shows. We had a wonderful, romantic anniversary stay in a lovely and comfortable king bed room. The included breakfasts on the veranda were excellent, as was the service. We enjoyed dinner in the Ebbit Room twice. It is a gourmet restaurant with terrific service (April was wonderful!} Pools at Congress Hall were excellent and poolside service was efficient. We can't wait to come back to Cape May and stay here again.

The Virginia Hotel & Cottages are a magical place. The staff from inception at reservations, to valet, to check in at the front desk, to dining at the Ebbit room, to check out and so on, provided amazing customer service and gracious hospitality. Alaina at the concierge is phenominal and has help us many times in the past, always accomodating all our needs and requests. The atmosphere in the hotel is like no other. The rooms are beautiful and if you get a chance to stay at the cottages, the rooms are no different than staying in the hotel. The Virginia Hotel and the Cottages are spectacular and exceptional all all fronts.

The fabulous service started before we even arrived to the Virginia Hotel. The concierge reached out via text to ask about any preferences we had for our stay at The Turret Suite in their Red Cottage. Once we got there the service got even better with constant communication and check-ins. Aiden at the front desk went above and beyond to help. Our suite was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were well stocked with toiletries. The breakfast choices offered were high quality and delicious as was the service. We tried the Ebbitt Room for drinks and it was top tier too. We hated leaving but look forward to coming back.

Love Cape May and the Viginia hotel. Agree with another reviewer, the staff is crazy friendly and helpful. Billy at the front desk could not do enough to make sure our stay was over the top. Like this hotel because it's close to the mall and is open on the off season which we prefer. The restaurant is also open off season as many others are closed. The ebbit room is excellent too. The sommelier Chris was one of the most knowledgeable I have met in a NJ restaurant. He spent a lot time chatting with us and selected a great Tuscan wine for us. Breakfast was included and a nice quiche. Service great again. A nice parlor with a wood fire to sip cocktails and enclosed porch for morning coffee. Leo the bartender did a great job. Had some interesting rare bourbons too. Room was clean and comfortable especially for a Victorian Era building. Dinner was great. Nice menu and service. Can't wait to go back. …

Wanted to check out Cape May for the 3 day MLK weekend with my husband and stayed at the Virginia Hotel for 2 nights in room 102. Pros: The hotel is in a historical Victorian style building with tons of charm, located a short walk to the beach and Washington Street Mall with lots of shops and restaurants. The location is awesome. The room was very comfortable with extra attention to every detail. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well stocked with fluffy towels, local soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Breakfast each morning is delivered to either your room, heated Porch or Virginia Seating room with many food options and your choice of deliverey time. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Enjoyed the front sitting room as well and had cocktails by the fireplace both evenings of our stay. There's also a restaurant inside the hotel. Live music was played from the dining room each evening. Cons: There is valet parking at the hotel, however my husband is not a fan of using valet services. There was free metered parking on the street since its January, but not sure how long the meters will be free. Took a while to find parking each night. Wasn't easy to drop off luggage ourselves since street and temporary parking is tough near the hotel. The staff did offer to help with our luggage, but we opted to do it ourselves with some difficulty. I blame that on ourselves. Our room was located on the ground level across from the kitchen and near the restaurant. We could hear music, dishes and noise from our room until about 11pm in the evening and then again in the morning around 7am. We live in the city so we're use to some noise and slept through most of it, but at times it was loud. Last pet peeve was the refrigerator in our room had a glass door with a bright light that you could see inside the fridge. The light was so bright that it lite up room while we were trying to sleep. My husband ended up placing a bathroom towel over top of it to block as much light as possible. Overall we had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel, but request a room on a higher level away from the restaurant. …

Stayed here over a long Thanksgiving weekend. The staff is truly amazing. Very helpful and extremely friendly. We were greeted with a beautifully decorated parlor, bar, and dining area. The food was unbelievably good. There is nothing that we had that wasn’t absolutely delicious. What really sets this apart is the attention to detail by the staff. Especially Michael, Saule (sp?) , and our bartender Leo. We can’t wait to stay again.

Adorable room, comfy bed, nice bathroom. The water pressure was not the greatest. Excellent Service. Love breakfast on the porch and how the beach is all set up with towels snd chairs. Stayed at the Red Cottage last year, which was also very nice with the same amenities. Nice that there is access to Congress hall pool too, so so relaxing. God willing will be staying at one of the properties next year!
